In Eric Johnson's 2015 debut the Sox built a 6-1 lead then held on to complete the sweep in KC.

 

Johnson pitched well giving up 3 solo HRs in 6 innings before he ran out of gas in the heat and humidity of KC.

 

Johhny Cueto only lasted 3 innings before he was pulled after giving up 5 runs on 7 seven with 2 walks.

 

David Robertson picked up a save.

 

Recently acquired Mike Olt went 2/4 with 2 K's and played solid at 3rd.

Out of all series the Sox had on the schedule this season, this is the last one I would expect to be a sweep.

Probably not . Sox just caught him when he's been struggling his last few outings.

Finally. f***ing finally!

The Sox go into KC and win all three. Halleluia. Finally. It really means nothing but I'll sure take it. I just don't understand how we can lose so many games against KC then sweep a 3-game series finally out of nowhere.

The strange thing is we all know it signifies nothing. It's just a wonderful thing, though, to sweep them.

 

From a Royals standpoint, the Cueto acquisition is a reminder not all midseason additions do work. He blows. And he's another guy whose gonna soon be making 20 million dollars a season for 6-7 seasons. I just don't understand how baseball execs can hand out these contracts and risk the player immediately turning to s***!

Post All Star break in 186 AB Eaton is batting .333 but leading the team in K's with 51. Strange what a sore shoulder can do but the end result isn't bad but he might need off season surgery.

 

Eaton has said " it would be more fun hitting in the three or four or five hole" so if Micah Johnson pans out somewhere Eaton would love it.

When was the last time a pitcher who had success in the NL replicated that success in the AL? Cueto has sucked, and Hamels has just been OK for the Rangers (I'm aware of the small sample sizes). We all know what's happened with Samardzija. I can't think of one. I guess Volquez has been OK this year but he's not really a guy I would say has had a past history of success.

I took a look at the top 10 Cy Young award winners over the past few seasons for guys who spent a lot of time in the NL and came up with Anibal Sanchez, Dan Haren, Bartolo Colon, Cliff Lee, Jose Valverde, and Josh Beckett. None of them were really close to the top, they just placed and performed well, had a closer thrown in, none of them were obviously 100% consistent either.

while i really can't say either way, i just like to clarify this. is what is being discuss is, an elite pitcher whom most would agree, if he came or is in the NL, does that mean that his stats may be watered down. as oppose to an equal pitcher in talent in the AL????

Both leagues are so different. I like NL baseball much better. I don't know how much as changed but even the strike zone use to be different. How long a pitcher stays in the game is dependent on whether to pinch hit. IN the AL you have to throw to a DH. I think the talent is better in the AL but when it comes to the post season the NL plays the game better. The Sox don't have success with former NL players. Dunn couldn't adjust to AL pitching and we shall see how Laroche does next season. As for shark I think he is over rated. He also came from a Cubs organization where it is OK for players to have attitudes.
