  1. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 12:56 AM) I'm ready to mark this down as a perfect game for Scherzer. Phegley's pop up was so pretty. He had a beautiful bat flip.

Simon Castro with another bad outing. It's hard to see how he was every a top 100 prospect.

Nick McCully not faring well in AAA
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 12:45 AM) I'll stand by what I've said for a while -- they'll be good once they buy some good players. And they're in great position to do so the next few years.

No Wilkins, Tim Anderson or Barnum = yawn
  6. I also wonder if the Cubs are going to try and get Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez this week to help their horrible pitching going forward the next few years.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 12:32 AM) That will look great next to their attendance trophies. With the money they'll have to spend, they're going to use a lot of these prospects to go after the likes of David Price, etc. Their organization is in a far better place now than it was a year ago, despite the lack of improvement by Castro. Especially if there are two PTBNL and Ramirez is one of them, this was an incredible deal by the Cubs. The Rangers are giving up more for Garza than they did for Cliff Lee.
  8. Cubs are going to have the #1 ranked farm system, aren't they?
  9. The Rangers better be locking up Garza to an extension.
  10. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 12:15 AM) Sounds like the PTBNL could be Neil Ramirez. Fantastic return if true. It's just amazing to me how much value Garza had. Hahn better get a better return for Peavy than this.
  11. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 11:23 PM) One of Bryant/Olt will end up in left field. This trade was magnificent. I liked the original trade that was rumored much more where they were getting Sardinas and Ramirez. Grimm is garbage.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:47 PM) Very convenient that the Brewers suck and Braun has been battling an injury all season. Probably the best time for him to cut a deal. As someone that hates the Cubs, I'm pretty happy with Braun only being out the remainder of this year
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 10:19 PM) What exactly are the Cubs gonna do with Olt? 1st base is locked up, and if I am to believe the hype, Bryant should be in the majors at 3B very soon. Can he play in the outfield? Just gives them one more guy they can try and get good value for when they eventually trade for pitching.
  14. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:19 PM) I wonder who the 3rd player is. Either way CJ Edwards is legit. Jury is still out on Olt. Wouldn't be shocked if it's Sardinas
  15. It's amazing how much more the Cubs got for Garza as opposed to Dempster last year.
  16. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 10:13 PM) Who would be considered our #1 now? E. Johnson
  17. Hell of a deal for Cubs: @Ken_Rosenthal: Source: #Cubs will acquire Triple A IF Mike Olt, Single A RHP C.J. Edwards and a third player from #Rangers for Garza.
  18. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 08:59 PM) Even With Texas off, the only guy who made sense was SS Sardinas. The sox could easily hold onto Alexei and deal Peavy for an OFer or 3b. And fill out other spots with Crain, Rios, et all. CJ Edwards would have been either our 1st or 2nd best pitching prospect
  19. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 09:55 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 8m Sources: Garza will not pitch tonight for #Cubs, deal with #Rangers near. That is 3:47 CST. UGH!
  20. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 22, 2013 -> 02:58 AM) Don't overlook Texas as a landing spot for JFP...not sayin', just sayin'. Any idea who the Sox would be interested in? If they want to give up Olt, Sardinas, Edwards and another person...bring it on
  21. The reason Wells isn't an everyday starter is due to his stance. It just seems to give him too many pitches he can't get the barrel to.
  22. Braves fans cannot be liking this game very much.
  23. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 08:25 PM) What the hell is Flowers looking for??? 2-1 count and a fastball right down the middle and he just looks at it!! He has got to be the worst pitch guesser ever Yep, he really does guess at the plate far too often. Nice to see the catcher complaining with the umpire though...not!
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 08:19 PM) Sit around and compare those 2 lineups for a second and then realize that their current lineup is missing 2 outfielders. They're hitting the ball like crazy. And their bullpen has been pretty awesome
  25. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2013 -> 07:58 PM) The problem is...since they're both right handed, it'll be really tempting to over-play Phegley if those are the only 2 catching options. Yep, and it's not like you can use Flowers against tough righties to help out Phegley.
