  1. The Indians have a lot of "magic" so far this season.
  2. The last few years with KW definitely is a perfect example of John Wooden's quote of "don't mistake activity for achievement".
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 4, 2011 -> 03:39 PM) The circumstances that led to the Nick Swisher trade and then the subsequent giving away of Nick Swisher were pretty brutal, too. The Danks deal was a big-time win. Was that KW's last victory? He won Quentin for Carter. As for Swisher, I get so pissed when people say "well KW had to trade him for scraps cause he wasn't a good fit in the clubhouse". Well, just like with Orlando Cabrera, isn't it KW and Ozzie's responsibility to do their research to make sure that players they acquire are going to be good clubhouse fits? It's not like Swisher came here and acted differently than he had in Oakland. It's not his fault that Konerko, Dye and Thome were uptight leaders.
  4. Buddy Bell gets way too much credit around these parts. Sure, we've changed our philosophy in the first round to go after higher ceilng guys. However, we're still in the bottom 5 with regards to our farm system, and we still see significant holes from our prospects when they're called up to the majors. It's going to be interesting to see if the Sox give up/trade Beckham sooner rather than later.
  5. 2006...that was a great, exciting team up until Iguchi's game winning single heading into the ASB.
  6. I'd like to see this lineup: Pierre Rios Konerko Dunn Quentin Alexei Teahen Beckham AJP
  7. Interesting tidbit I heard. Bulls are VERY interested in drafting Iman Shumpert with one of their two late 1st round draft picks. He'd give them a good defender and length off the bench at the combo guard position. It's likely the main reason he decided to stay in the draft.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) I could tell you it was mechanical! In fact I did that yesterday! It was nuts...his left arm seemed to be on the far end of the left part of the mound, and the rest of his body was on the far right part.
  9. So what's happened to Broxton? Just overuse over the years? He was throwing 89-91 mph last night after averaging 98 mph a few years ago.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 4, 2011 -> 04:55 AM) They guy who wrote the story didn't write in until AJ was released, and there has never been confirmation from another player. If AJ was as hated as you claim, that would have come out a lot sooner, and there would have been at least 24 other players, plus coaches plus trainers telling everyone they could about it. IIRC, Tomko confirmed that story.
  11. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 4, 2011 -> 03:52 AM) Have the Sox done less with a championship season than any other baseball team in recent memory? Good question, but with each passing year, it makes me appreciate 2005 even more. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, went right for us and we capitalized on those breaks. It was definitely a fluke, but not in a bad way. We deserved the World Series that year as much as any team has in a long time.
  12. Nepotism Night would be great. Everyone that has a job because of their dad would receive either an Oney Bobblehead or a KW Jr. Bobblehead
  13. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 4, 2011 -> 03:09 AM) Why Thursday(s)? Off days, much easier to do something drastic
  14. I'm sad that Hawk didn't announce the game tonight. He might have been speechless for the last 20 minutes of the game.
  15. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ May 4, 2011 -> 04:01 AM) KW will be the first to go. I think he has a shred of dignity and will eventually fall on his sword. In a few months. My prediction is Walker goes sometime in May, Ozzie leaves for Florida at end of year, and KW becomes VP with Hahn taking over during offseason.
  16. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 4, 2011 -> 04:00 AM) Something's about to crack on this whole thing. I don't think they wait much longer. Either this Thursday or next Thursday, we will see someone terminated if this terrible stretch continues (in my opinion).
  17. Seriously, me neither. Not that anyone cares, but I've emotionally checked out on this team. Sure, they can suck me back in with a 25-5 stretch, but I just don't believe in the organization right now. I'll be watching games now to enjoy Santos, Humber, and hope to see improvements from Beckham/Quentin/Rios/Dunn/Sale/Floyd/Morel
  18. Wait, this hasn't been happening all year?
  19. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ May 4, 2011 -> 02:38 AM) wow, talk about a big mistake signing dunn lol i liked it at the time. but yea, i guess there were a few red flags, when he ended the second half so bad and he didnt even want to dh. he came out saying he would and whatever the team wanted, but only because they offered the most money I blame the Cubs
  20. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ May 4, 2011 -> 02:38 AM) Don't worry guys, we have all this talent in the minors. This organization is so, so f***ed. Time to get Viciedo up here. In all honesty, Omar is a waste of a roster spot, especially if Ozzie refuses to pr him or refuses to use him in mop-up duty.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 4, 2011 -> 02:35 AM) Arms, hands, same s***. Extending you arms leads to longer swings, period. I haven't been able to watch the White Sox as much as I'd like (though it seems that may not be so bad) but they're approach is just bad. As a team, they don't have a plan at the plate. Each guy is up there doing his own thing. You know I was one of "Slayer's" biggest fans at first, but it's truly vomit-inducing seeing what's become of his swing. The Orioles were just attacking him with 90 mph inside fastballs, and he looked like how we would.
  22. Ozzie's going to tell Jay Mariotti to view this thread
  23. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 4, 2011 -> 02:32 AM) It's such a terrible misconception that hitters need to extend their hands. All it does is slow down their swing even more. I have no clue what Walker is telling these guys, but it isn't working. Extend arms, I clearly meant (not sure if you did). Neither guy has any power because they're just pushing the bat thru the zone.
  24. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ May 4, 2011 -> 02:30 AM) what does 05 have to do with anything? and no, pk isnt part of the problem. hes the only good thing we have you defend Ozzie more than anyone it seems. Accept my apology if it's not due to 2005.
