  1. Nice play by Crede, and Danks pitches over the leadoff double.
  2. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 12:51 AM) Yeah he was saying that he is doing his job and thats all he is focused on and when they asked him if he and Ozzie talked about it he said "I am working and thats all I am doing" It was all in his tone that you could tell he is big time pissed. Jessie Rogers said today that their relationship has been awful since Sunday, and that there's a ton of tension surrounding them. Ozzie also stated that Baines and Cora are his two closest friends on the team.
  3. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 11:48 PM) Not that it really matters, at least IMO, but has there been anything out thee linking Smoak to the Sox, like scouting? Just the SEC tournament, but I have it on good authority we were there to see Beckham
  4. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 12:02 AM) f*** YEAH! This means the odds of Crow being there at 8 increased a ton! I have a bad feeling we'll pass on Crow.
  5. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 10:28 PM) My old man just called and said Levine was just on ESPN 1000. He said part of the reason for all this was to protect Mark. Levine claims Buehrle has had a shoulder problem since ST, and he can't start on 5 days anymore, but needs a week. Now I don't know how much of this is factual(if Levine is correct, I know he said it), but I suppose we will find out pretty soon. So Loaiza's going to be starting now? Hopefully Levine was stating hypotheticals, becase Loaiza would be a huge step backwards for the rotation.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 08:00 PM) The guy is very talented. Out of Tennessee if I recall correctly. He hasn't put it all together yet though and has definitely been susceptible to the long ball (based on the couple games I saw of him earlier in the season). Last time I saw highlights of him, he had a very good change-up.
  7. QUOTE (jenks45monster @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 08:03 PM) Looks like the Reds won't be taking Crow. According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, they've narrowed it down to: Matusz, Posey, G-Beck, and Alonso. http://beta.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/s....cincinnati.com I can't see Reds taking Posey, as they drafted a catcher last year. If I was them, I'd take a pitcher.
  8. 1. Crow 2. Smoak 3. G. Beckham 20. Castro
  9. Why is everyone so eager to trade one of our pitchers? Outside of Wassermann, everyone is intergral to the pitching success they've had so far.
  10. The only positive I see with Loaiza possibly being in the bullpen is that he's done well against righty hitters the past two seasons. He's not a roogy, but if used right, it's possible he won't be a huge liability.
  11. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 06:10 PM) can you believe they're re-making that? with will smith's kid! Really, I hadn't heard that?
  12. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 05:25 PM) Wasn't he injured? Maybe he is done then as I have not seen him but was goinn by last season more than this whenhe was at least servicable. Serviceable? His ERA was close to 9 with the Dodgers.
  13. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 05:13 PM) What is odd is why wouldn't other teams be able to offer him a starting rotation spot. Really low risk / high reward....... Look at he Yanks, sign him and move Joba back to the pen. Maybe he really liked it here and wanted to return for some reason. Hell, he would at least be a .500 pitcher guaranteed in the NL. For an inning or two, Loaiza could be as effective as anyone out of the pen The Yanks sure loved Loaiza when he was there. Has anyone actually seen Loaiza pitch this year? His fastball was in the mid 80s when I saw it, and he had very little in terms of offspeed pitches.
  14. QUOTE (29andPoplar @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) Jason, I just don't think they'll go with a high school guy. Call it a hunch. Now if Smoak is on the board they've got to think really hard about passing him up. Heir apparent for Konerko when his deal expires after 2010. Then again, the same could be said for Brett Wallace. Aren't the Giants all over Smoak though? Yes, Smoak won't be there when we pick. I think the possible guys are Skippy, Wallace, G. Beckham, Crow, and Castro. I'd be happy with the first 4.
  15. I'd rather have Wassermann on the team than Loaiza. I saw him pitch a few games for the Dodgers the past few years, and his stuff was below average. I like Loaiza though, so I hope he can revive his career.
  16. Maybe he wants to set the minor league record for strikeouts in a season by a Mexican born player?
  17. QUOTE (29andPoplar @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 04:11 PM) The Diamondbacks GM publically gave Williams credit, he said KW was badgering him about Quentin for a long time. I remember a quote from KW when talking about the offseason being successful, and something he said was that they went out to acquire Carlos Quentin. Not just any outfielder, but specifically Carlos Quentin. I also believe that Quentin was a name they tried to get in any possible Dye trade.
  18. Take Crow if he's there! Contreras will be a free agent after next season, and it's not like we have any possible options coming along in the minors (Poreda will be a set-up man, in my opinion). I can't imagine the outrage on here tomorrow if we take Castro.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 06:15 AM) Posey falling to the Sox is better than Alvarez falling to the Sox. Thats how much I like Posey. The Sox should be thrilled if he lands in our laps. As far as drafting a closer goes, it should be noted most scouts believe he'll transfer from the pen to the rotation (and he possesses some plus plus pitches). Risky pick, but his arsenal is very good (according to scouts). My brother brought up a good point....many teams say they'll make a closer into a starter, but how often does that work? The Blue Jays thought David Bush was going to go from superb closer to frontline starter....and that hasn't worked out that well.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 03:01 AM) Up 6-0 in bottom of 5th. Oh nice...a glog on sportsline said it was called off.
  21. Tough night for Cardinals...up 5-0 in the top of 5th, and game gets rained out.
  22. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 03:51 AM) Gaitright was burning to first, he fielded the ball fine, he couldnt find the ears on the ball. It was a slow chopper that hit the lip and bounced lower than he thought. It wasn't a bad play.
  23. Ramirez has had the best at bats on the team over the last two weeks.
