  1. Gotta throw strikes Haeger. His knuckler is missing by a ton far too often.
  2. This ump is squeezing the s*** out of Haeger tonight. Definitely not equal zones.
  3. There's one K/passed ball. It's going to take a miracle to keep the Angels from scoring this inning.
  4. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) Does Santana look good so far or do we just look like crap? Fantastic control on his slider tonight. Our hitters are also reacting like they've never seen a slider in their life. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:37 AM) Wow, let me tell you. He is getting ALL the calls. What happened that inning to suggest that?
  5. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) That was just a bad swing by dye. Looked like he was just trying to poke at it. I've been saying for two years now that if a Sox hitter has a 3-2 count on them, they'll swing at anything that's not a fastball.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:33 AM) agreed, I think its his somewhat 3/4 delivery. It almost stops and then tumbles before the plate. Weird. It almost reminds me of the cheesy knucklers you see in a video game.
  7. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) No Hitter through 2! He looks good even though hes falling behind. Damn. I could read your posts all night, and be entertained.
  8. Much better inning for Haeger. Another good inside fastball got Quinlan out.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) His knuckler is so much different than Wakefields. Wakefield's is more vertical break, and Haeger's seems to be going horizontally.
  10. QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) Hopefully he can settle in. How does he look as far as his other pitches go? Is he throwing the knuckler almost exclusively? 85 mph fastball, and his ability to get it inside on the hitter has been impressive so far. He's only throwing his knuckler for a strike about 20 pct of the time though.
  11. If Santana gets this zone all night, we're in a lot of trouble.
  12. Quite a different strike zone so far for Santana.
  13. What bet did AJP lose to have to catch Haeger, and not Buehrle?
  14. Good location on his fastball. Somehow, he got out of the inning. I'm more impressed with his command of his heater so far tonight.
  15. QUOTE(Jimbo @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) wow that ball is really really high alot For a knuckler, it doesn't have a lot of movement down. Hopefully it'll get better, but this is one of the weaker knucklers I've seen by a "knuckle ball" pitcher in the majors.
  16. QUOTE(The Critic @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) f***, kid coulda thrown a knuckler to 2nd and picked Chone off that first time. If he threw either of those first two pickoffs right away, this inning would have been over.
  17. So far, it seems like in order for him to throw it for a strike, it has to have little movement.
  18. Looks like McCarthy's going to get a lot of time to stretch his arm out tonight.
  19. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:09 AM) Oh baby, I could never bear to watch a knuckler all year long. Trust me, you won't have to worry about that.
  20. He's not close to throwing the knuckler for a strike.
  21. His knuckler seems too fast, and it's not having time to break.
  22. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ May 10, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) I would assume so, not sure though. Depends if they have a double header probably. It's the Angels only visit to Chicago, so it would almost definitely be a double header tomorrow. Also, I'm not sure if Shields is available for the Angels this series. He had some chest pains recently, and might have to see a doctor in LA.
  23. My biggest annoyance with this whole issue was that people were more concerned about proving that they either did or didn't believe this poster, instead of discussing a possible injury to the best pitcher in baseball so far this season.
  24. QUOTE(JimH @ May 9, 2006 -> 01:49 AM) I think this nails it and I also believe the White Sox will be extra careful with Contreras. He is very tough and well conditioned, there is obviously something wrong with him if the discussions have gotten to DL consideration. We're talking about a big man who's 75 years old. I agree that it has to be of some concern to the organization for them to consider the DL right away.
