  1. Jphat....got a few hard outs that inning! Contreras has lost his arm angle, which is flattening out his spllitter and causing him to lose a little control. He's still fine though.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) Fathom, can I ask what the Cubs have to do with the Sox at ALL right now? Why would you even post that if your going to start it off with, "I havent seen to much of it.." Sorry, should have stated that differently. I think the team knows that all they need is one more win, and starts pressing thinking that they can win the game with one swing. We've done so good this series taking solid swings, that I just want to see that continue.
  3. I haven't seen too much of it tonight, but one of the things I remembered from the Cubs being up 3-1 in 2003 is that they seemed to lose some of their focus at the plate, and try to hit the 3 run homer with no one on base.
  4. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) Why must we hit like f***ing s*** vs. Byrd He's changing speeds and is more inside/outside than the previous few righties were. We've had our chances tonight to drive the ball, but haven't cashed in on poor pitches. They're going to Escobar early in this game, so unless we want to see that nasty splitter, we need to start hitting liners again.
  5. Damn, that was a cookie. PK had a cookie in the first inning also that he fouled off.
  6. Good pitches...takes some balls to throw two straight fastballs to Vlad.
  7. This could be a turning point in the series for the Angels.
  8. That pitch has been a strike all game for Byrd.
  9. Well, we knew it wasn't going to be that easy.
  10. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 01:13 AM) Even if he fields it cleanly he's safe, and i gaurentee he goes. Sure. Rivera was pausing briefly as he was rounding first, and then kept going when he saw it on the ground.
  11. Haha, good defense Pods. Tough play, but if he fields that cleanly, Rivera doesn't try to get to 2nd.
  12. Haha, that ball was right down the middle.
  13. Iguchi is opening up way too early right now. I was going to suggest Willie start tonight, but we're obviously sticking with this lineup.
  14. We're not going to get any calls tonight, so we can't allow the umpires to dictate what goes on.
  15. Any chance that the game gets postponed tonight?
  16. Redandwhite....when I'm agreeing with Felix and Rowand44 in the same thread, there most be some flaw in your argument!
  17. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) With all due respect, to the both of you, that is just ridiculous. No, it's actually not. Unlike you, I don't have any bias when it comes to Red Sox players. And don't even try to accuse me of having a bias towards Everett, as I was completely on the keep Everett off the field bandwagon this offseason.
  18. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 08:40 PM) To help cheer me up from the Steelers loss a little, the Tar Heels finished off one of the all-time great recruiting classes. http://northcarolina.scout.com/2/453159.html Not like anyone else cares :-P That's an insane class. With the new NBA age limit, you're going to see more of these type of superstar classes where the players think they can come in and win it all their freshman year.
  19. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) Manny won't be traded within the division and to be honest I don't think he'll be traded at all. As for his defense, he is the most underrated defensive player in the game as I stated earlier. I respectfully say that you're nuts to think he's the most underrated defensive player. He plays the easiest outfield position in baseball in LF at Boston, as he can play about 220 feet away from home plate. He is terrible on fly balls to either side of him, and struggles going back on fly balls. To say he's underrated is just ridiculous. He's a bad defensive player, no other way to state it. I would take Carl Everett over him in the outfield, and trust me when I say I'm not a fan of Everett in the field.
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) You know there is absolutely no chance that the cubs land Giles and Furcal, NO WAY. I think Damon ends up with the skanks, I'm hoping he's right about Pauly though. EDIT: BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, didn't even notice the Brown prediction. I think the Cubs have an outstanding chance of getting Giles and Furcal. They're going to have a lot of money free to spend, and they already have most of the expensive positions set. Furcal has long been rumored to be the main priority for the Cubs, and I know they've been interested in Giles for a while. The one thing I remember about Giles is that he didn't want to play in the Midwest when he was rumored to be traded by the Pirates.
  21. Please don't say Rowand has been putting good swings on the ball. He's showing no patience at the plate, and is making a ton of weak outs.
  22. Actually, I think the predictions seem to be pretty solid.
