Bears Vs Detroit
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) Fathom, weren't you b****ing last week about how the Bears didn't do a good job of getting their hands up in the air on passes? Yet, where are you this week to compliment? Of course, that would probably be too hard, but... Actually, no, that wasn't me b****ing about that. Thanks though! I never said a single thing about getting their hands up. The main thing I said tht you fought with me was that Thomas Jones is better than our 2nd WR in regards to around the NFL.

White Sox vs. Twins 09/18/05
Does Mike Sweeney really hate the Sox this much? He's been worthless against the Indians this series.

White Sox vs. Twins 09/18/05
QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) YAnks down 2-0 in the 2nd If only it was the White Sox, the game would be over. However, the Yankees have this thing called explosive offense, and they have more comebacks than any other team this season.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) How are those $200M Yankees doing? It's funny, with their big payroll, and their starting pitching has been saved by Chacon and Small.

Down the Stretch...
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) Regardless of what the Indians did today, we need a win. Today's game = biggest game of the season (and you'll be seeing me say that a lot over the next few weeks). Sure, but it would be great if we could get a little help from another team once this month.

White Sox vs. Twins 09/18/05
QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) This is not happening... :headshake It's amazing how some teams have no problems picking up their intensity during the stretch run, and other teams just s*** the bed.

Cleveland up 2-0 in the first already today.

Down the Stretch...
Indians are already up 2-0 in the first. A T. Hafner 2 run homer, as well as two deep fly outs. When will the nightmare end?

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) Our payroll, and those of other Central teams, reflects attendance. If we supported the team better at the gate, they'd spend more money and the division would be ours to lose every year. We're spending 34 million dollars this year than the Indians. That's the worst excuse you could possibly imagine with this situation.

Bears Vs Detroit
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) Good thing they replaced that useless Green with Harris. Now there is a guy who makes plays. I thought it was Tillman's fault for not holding up Williams. You know, for a supposedly great defense, the Bears sure seem to give up a lot of yards.

Peanut's off to a terrible start this season.

Don't Look Now Volume 2
The White Sox look like the sprinter horse, which gets out to the huge lead. Then, there are the Indians, who stayed in the middle of the pack, and then made their huge run down the back stretch. How many times do you see the sprinter horse actually stay in the lead? If this was a Hollywood movie, we'd lose by a nose at the finish line.

Keep Writing the Sox Off, friends + foes
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) I think you're all missing a huge aspect. This team is not the same team they were at the beginning of the year. They're different teams, and this one sucks. They don't thrive off of being doubted, they fold and agree with the doubt. This team is just another piece of s*** White Sox team that we've become accustomed to. The starting pitchers are fatigued, Hermanson is hurt, and Pods can't run. Those were 3 of the main reasons we started off so well.

QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) People are just venting. I think it's understandable. Almost every thread these days reverts somehow to the slump, so it's difficult for me to try to tell people where to vent. You can count the people who are still overly optimistic on one hand now, it seems. When guys like Hawk, DJ, and Farmer seem to have lost hope, then you know it might be time to be worried.

QUOTE(SoxPhan7 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) What are the odds of Everett getting a day off sometime soon? Please ozzie! I know you make the line-ups but c'mon! Because if they don't make the playoffs, then he can tell all the media "f*** you, I played my starters the whole way at the end of the season after everyone b****ed that I subbed too much". One of the things I've never felt that Ozzie had a good grasp of was being able to input a bench player, such as Gload, Anderson, or Borchard, and adjusting the lineup to put them in. Instead, Ozzie usually will play 3 benchers at a time, and he'll just plug them into the same spot in the lineup.

QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) i understand all that, but does it really need to come up in a thread like this? One thing I've noticed during this potential collapse is that it really doesn't matter what the topic of the thread is, people will just post their doomsday beliefs anywhere.

The blame goes to KW, fair or not, for not upgrading this team when it was clear that more was needed for this team to maintain success throughout the whole year. We even had a big struggle in August, and he still didn't obtain any offensive help. It was pretty clear the Reds weren't going to give up Griffey Jr. You have to know that will be his excuse if he's made the scapegoat after the season.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) What is it about pressure that brings out the worst in this team? It's been that way for at least the whole 21st Century, hasn't it?

QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) why do cubs fans always have to come up? Because that's what happens. There were tons of us going nuts when the Cubs collapsed also.

Everett and Crede make this team weaker
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Furcal's probably headed to the Cubs this off-season. He'll want to lead-off which isn't possible while Scotty's around. Well, if that was really the reason he wouldn't come to the Sox, I'd put Pods in the 9th hole faster than you could say Ditka. There's going to be a big financial battle for Furcal this offseason, with him being the top choice for many teams, including the big spending Cubs. I think the chances of the Sox getting Furcal are....remote.

Don't Look Now Volume 2
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 06:57 AM) I can't even walk outside without a Cubs fan pointing and laughing at me. I would bring up 2003, but this is so much worse. This has nothing on the 2003 collapse by the Cubs. 5 outs away with a 3 run lead and a game up in the series from making the World Series is in a hell of a lot better position to have a "dream" season than the Sox this year.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Yanks have like 8 left vs BOS and they wont sweep em all!!! We are 8.5 ahead of OAK also now too They have 3 games left vs each other. The rest of their schedule is rather easy.
