  1. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 01:23 PM) I know 3 weeks into the season is why too early to start the debate, but I think a guy named Ian Kinsler deserves that title right now. Dude's hitting the cover off the ball right now. Not to mention Brian Roberts, Aaron Hill and Robinson Cano.
  2. Fear the Tigers and Justin Verlander's 9.00 ERA
  3. Happy Birthday guy
  4. QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) Without a doubt he's the best pitcher on our staff. Another great performance today, he's quickly becoming one of the premier young starters in the AL. I'll also point out how well BA has been doing since getting the starting job. It was noted in another thread, but he's definitely proving that he deserves the starting spot. Two more hits today with a double and RBI He's f***ing incredible, there's really no argument in my mind as to the best starter on the staff. 0.84 WHIP, .138 BAA and 0.95 ERA so far and that includes a game in which he really didn't have it. 9 hits in 19 IP
  5. .316 AVG and .386 OBP for Getz Unfortunately he awakes in a cold sweat every night out of fear of leading the next day's game.
  6. For those of you writing in Jermaine Dye as the 2010 DH, don't get your hopes up. There's no way he moves out of right field, his reputation for being a strong defender is much too strong.
  7. not in the f***ing least
  8. Anyone else worried that Josh has yet to hit a home run? What's up with this guy?
  9. QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 06:10 PM) One game puts you in a slump, if you didn't know... Feels like a [very odd] vendetta to me.
  10. Alexei doing 2 things in this one that he was pretty horrible at last year: he drew a walk and stole a base. Good stuff.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 06:28 PM) Alexei takes the BB. The 47 PA rule.
  12. QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 06:23 PM) G1 actually. I'm sitting in the 3rd row, right behind the third base ump with a few other sox fans Are you wearing Sox garb? If so there's a good chance they'll show you.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 06:06 PM) Hopefully Alexei's turned on the lightswitch as completely as he did last yera. last year: 47 PA or May 16th. I figure his season turned around after that HR in San Fran. coming into today he has 47 PA, so lets hope
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 06:03 PM) josh in a rut. Lexi to the 2 spot? Trade one slumping hitter for another? Unless you think 1 good game ends a slump.
  15. I LOVE Carlos Quentin. Oh, and Chris Getz.
  16. QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 10:52 PM) I posed the question to myself yesterday of who would I rather have than Quentin IN THE LEAGUE right now? Given his age and potential...there's probably only a handful of players I'd rather have. But like your question...it's a moot point. We're going up against one of them today, he'll be in right field. You'd also have to take into account position (Carlos plays a non-premier position). There's quite a few on my list but Carlos is definitely an elite talent.
  17. Hawk: "when we got to be ballpark yesterday everything looked good; we had Jose going for us they had the rookie Bergeson making his major league debut for them but then everything went bad." Seriously? Did anyone actually expect us to win yesterday? I thought that was by far the worst matchup of the series, I didn't think we had a chance.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 11:57 PM) I'd have no problem with Quentin in CF and finding a way to get a guy like Allen up and playing LF. Our defense already sucks, might as well try to rake. No thanks, I have no desire to see Buehrle put up a 5.00 ERA this year. Our defense is mediocre but you're just pushing to a level of epically bad with a move like that.
  19. Why exactly do people pay attention to power rankings? Some dude arbitrarily ranks the best teams in baseball through 2 weeks worth of games and this is supposed to be somehow relevant? Someone explain this to me. I mean, the OP doesn't even like the writing style of the author so it can't be for the witty analysis.
  20. QUOTE (TLAK @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) Rongey, Cowley, Farmer and Jackson in rain delay theater are very funny. Unusually good radio for WSCR. It's actually been surprisingly good. Darrin Jackson is a very funny man. Washington, Baltimore and Boston are all in rain delays.
  21. According to Cowley there's a window 30 to 45 minutes from now.
  22. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 05:38 PM) Joey Devine is a kid with a world of talent. Can't seem to get that arm to work, right. I still can't believe Beane got him for Mark f***ing Kotsay, I don't care how many arm problems he's had.
  23. It's been almost 51 f***ing hours since I've last seen White Sox baseball. I'm getting antsy.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) Last time I made this argument using the examples of Crede and Rowand their relatively slow "adaptation" to the major leagues (or any Sox hitting prospects since Ordonez, Lee and Durham), I was told that's irrelevant and that Beckham will be the exception...that it's a "new era" of White Sox youngsters coming up and dazzling upon entrance to the big league arena. Because Gordon Beckham is at all comparable to a meh prospect like Rowand? If you really want to make a comparison go back to Ventura who's probably the most comparable Sox prospect in semi-recent memory to Gordon Beckham. And if Gordon were to hit as well as Crede did during his first 200+ AB stint with the Sox I'd take it. I'm also confused as to why Beckham needs to be compared to past Sox prospects (none of which were as highly regarded as Gordon) as opposed to someone like Ryan Zimmerman.
  25. Joey Devine had surgery on the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow today but the details are sketchy. He's likely to miss the remainder of the season but if ligament replacement was involved it'll be a year plus.
