Due to his continued arm problems apparently Brandon McCarthy has abandoned his curveball and replaced it with a less abrasive slider. That Danks trade just keeps looking better.

JOE.CREDE. = Twinkie
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 28, 2009 -> 10:16 AM) My dad always told me you should pick a pin number that was the year of your birthday multiplied by 3. Now I have a new idea, haha. And whoever said the Twins don't have a LH reliever, they have Breslow and Mijares, who were probably their best relievers down the stretch. It was Nathan, Crain, Guerrier and Guardado that were the shakiest. The Twins will have an interesting battle for the outfield (right now Delmon Young, who is their most talent player, is ticket for the bench) and at SS (Punto vs. Brendan Harris). Their long relief is still unsettled too. Bonser's out for the year. Maybe Humber or Mulvey, RA Dickey, someone like that. Just glad they didn't get Juan Cruz. I agree, though, that if Liriano is close to his 2006 form, then the Twins are the team to beat. By the way, who said that Crede isn't the best defender in the AL Central? CHW=Fields/Viciedo/Betemit CLE=DeRosa or Peralta DET=Brandon Inge KC=Alex Gordon Inge and Gordon are good athletes, but there's no way they are obviously better than a closer to healthy Crede. The White Sox and Indians might have even more of a train wreck on their hands. Obviously better? No but Inge is right there with Crede, the difference between the two has been minute especially since we haven't seen a "closer to healthy" (whatever the hell that means) Crede since August of 2006.

9 kills, 9 deaths in my first game. There's definitely big time potential here but I first need to figure out what the f*** I'm doing.

Well Santeliz is only 22 years old and on the 40 man roster so I'd say keep an eye on him.

White Sox Mount Rushmore
There definitely needs to be a representative from the '05 team preferably kicking Baines off anyone's mountain. Frank, Buehrle/Ozzie, Aparicio/Fox, Whoever. The Sox don't exactly have an illustrious history of great players, probably the worst of any team that's been around for 60+ years. You could probably make an argument for Maggs (better baseball player than Baines) and Konerko being included on Mt. Rushmore.

ST Game 2: Sox @ Rockies (Tucson)
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 08:11 PM) So if we make our team out of guys who are out of options or who have to pass through waivers, it becomes Owens, Betemit, Lillibridge, Kroeger, Nix, and then an open spot if you count starting 2b and CF? Does Lilli have an option left? Who am I missing? Edit, was missing Wise. So unless Lillibridge has an option left, we're talking Owens, Wise, Betemit, Lillibridge, Kroeger, Nix, with a backup catcher somewhere presumably. Read it: http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/4797/2009...actsheetns8.jpg I included option years.

Getz has all 3 options remaining, Owens is out.

If Beckham's in B'ham...
Yeah I wouldn't call him Slayer if I met him in person.

ST Game 2: Sox @ Rockies (Tucson)
If Hudson stays healthy this year he'll get $8M, something tells me that sort of cash just isn't in the Sox's budget. Even if the money was there I'm not convinced the Sox see Hudson as an $8M upgrade over Getz/Lillibridge.

If Beckham's in B'ham...
QUOTE (Reddy @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) just look at it this way: we should use Slayer as often as possible. if it sticks, it will have been because of us. I say we go for it. I can just imagine it catching on and having Hawk call him Slayer during a game having absolutely no clue where and how it originated. There would just be something so satisfying about the next star of the franchise being called a pussy slayer by crusty old baseball announcers.

ST Game 2: Sox @ Rockies (Tucson)
And Jhonny Nunez closes it out with a 1-2-3 ninth that included a K. The Sox had some pitching on display today, very impressive. 9 IP, 7 H, 0 BB, 7 K, 1 ER

ST Game 2: Sox @ Rockies (Tucson)
QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Feb 26, 2009 -> 04:08 PM) The (more specific) point I was alluding to was, in 2010 there will be a big name (Viciedo, Fields) or one of the current standing 2B (Lilli, Nix, Getz, /Betemit/) missing the team entirely We seem to have too much depth in the IF. 2B - Getz SS - Beckham 3B - Fields LF - Viciedo CF - Alexei RF - Quentin 1B - Viciedo/Fields 2B - Getz SS - Ramirez 3B - Beckham LF - Viciedo/Fields RF - Quentin DH - Viciedo/Fields
