  1. QUOTE (onedude @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 11:13 PM) that's what the forum would be for. To set up a time when you are able to have your next game/matchup. With it this way, we should be able to have no problems....as long as it's regulated and paid attention to. I'm up for it....all the way. Shouldn't have to play every single night or every hour....games would probably be every other day or so pending on peoples schedules. I think if you won't be able to find a way to play at the same time, maybe a sim could be accomplished, or maybe have a differ of other people play your games.....just an idea. I was just kidding around. It's just crazy how 2 of the games I'm most looking forward to this year are going to be released 5 days apart.
  2. Cowley reporting from Soxfest had this to say: Breaking Bulls news: Chairman tells reporters that he was not calling out Del Negro, but the assistants.
  3. I do foresee 1 issue however. Killzone 2 and MLB '09 are going to be released, what? 5 days apart? How am I going to find the time to fully enjoy both games? There just aren't enough hours in the day.

    Polydactyly

Calling Antonio Alfonseca a "current big league pitcher" is quite the stretch.
  5. Carlos Quentin is one sexy muthaf***er.
  6. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 08:50 AM) You best learn how to time travel, then. I'd also love a healthy Rocco Baldelli, Milton Bradley, Pedro Martinez or Ben Sheets. It's just not possible.
  7. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 03:03 AM) what did you learn about his attitude? I don't know, he always came off as a decent enough guy, never caused any problems, always appeared to be trying hard, everyone seemed to like him. I just take offense to you claiming he doesn't speak english or talk to the media because neither is at all true.
  8. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 02:42 PM) shouldnt we be wishing joe the best?lol You can wish a player the best while being totally realistic about his future prospects. Personally, I don't see Joe Crede ever playing 140 games in a season again. Have him play half his games on concrete and I can't see him surviving past June. And I have to be honest, I can't hope and pray that every player who departs the Sox will go on to do great things, that's just not realistic. I wish him no ill will much like Aaron Rowand, Tadahito Iguchi, Jon Garland or any other player who has come and gone.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) Q and Dye both below avg? Dye may be close to that, but Q is avg to above avg in LF. He's always been graded out as a good defender his entire career. Yeah, he's always graded out well in rightfield (he was rated as a plus defender when we acquired him) but that's not the position he played last season. It's been pretty close to a consensus on here that Quentin was just bad in left last season. I love Quentin as much as anyone but even I can admit that he didn't take to the position change. And pretty much every metric had Jermaine Dye one of the worst rightfielders/outfielders in the game last season. Also add in Dye's lackluster arm which has been rated in the bottom half of the league for 3 straight years now and you have a well below average defender.
  10. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 11:41 AM) GMAB, how do we know what the hell Uribe's attitude was? The guy didn't speak English and rarely gave interviews. Juan speaks english, just not very well and he gave more than his fair share of post game interviews and even attempted to talk with some of the local sports radio shows from time to time. He has a very high pitched voice for a man his size.
  11. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 01:55 PM) Wherever Crede ends up,the Twins is the last team I want to see him go to.I'd hate to have him have a monster comeback and be on the other side of his desire to whup our ass. I hope he signs with the Twins, see how they like having their starting 3B miss 90 games due to injury.
  12. QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) So you're basically saying no matter who played LF after CQ's injury Owens, Wise, Swisher... it was inevitable that we were winning the AL Central? I also realize that the least favorite Soxtalk player is the starting lead-off hitter, so this whole thread is not gonna get us anywhere. Yeah, pretty much. Unless you believe Wise's 3-31 slump and horrible defense over the final 10 games of the season totally outweighs a brief hot streak over a 9 game span in which the Sox had a losing record. Having Wise go 0-12 in that big Twins series (0-9 leading off) at the Metrodome sure as hell didn't help matters.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 11:11 AM) Someone f***ing stole mine. Its the first time I've been denied my ST screen name on another platform. f***ers. I had to go with K_A_L_A_P_S_E because they just wouldn't let me use any variant of my usual screen name. It didn't matter how many random numbers I put on the back of it they wouldn't accept the name. By playing around with the letters a bit I figured out that there's some combination of letters in Kalapse (if I remember correctly it was having the 'aps' together) that made it unacceptable.
  14. QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 01:56 PM) Convenient for CQ to save him from scrutiny by almost giving away the Central for smashing his hand into a locker/wall whatever. I'd like to think Wise was actually a better player when he was starting and knew he would be everyday. We don't win the division last year without Wise. period. Owens would not have been capable of that spark. I'm not calling him an all-star, but sometimes journeymen need to find their niche. Wise never played scared... he plays smart. Quentin punched his bat after falling off a pitch. Oh Wise looks like a smart ballplayer until you get him in the outfield then he just looks confused. Wise starting receiving regular playing time on September 9th. He proceeded to hit .206/.265/.429/.694 with 3 SB, 5 BB and 13 Ks from there on out including a 3 for 31 slump over his final 31 AB. Hell of a spark. He had a 9 game hot streak between the 9th and 19th in which he hit .313/.333/.750/1.083. The Sox went 4-5 over that span. Thank god for DeWayne wise and his 2 HRs in a blowout against the Royals.
  15. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 01:52 PM) I wasn't impressed with Quentin's D, but I wouldn't call him below average. I think we expected to find out he was a plus defender and then just saw he wasn't. He was definitely below average last year and he didn't really improve as the season went on so there's no reason for me to believe he'll be any better next year. It's gotta be tough for him playing a whole new position after spending his whole playing career on the right side of the outfield but he never adjusted to the position, even as late as August he was having trouble reading the ball off the bat.
  16. Well one thing's for sure, the Sox will have the worst defensive OF in the game for much of 2009. 3 below average defenders with Dye and Wise being well below average. Toss in Fields at 3B, Pierzynski behind the plate and Konerko at 1B, should be fun. Maybe we can break some records.
  17. QUOTE (forrestg @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 09:22 PM) so I was 1/3 right. If we are not in contention in July could you see us unloadin any of the above named players? Well according to reports KW has been shopping Dye all offseason and he'd love to unload Konerko. Thome is pretty much untradeable since he holds a complete no trade clause, can really only DH and makes $13M this year. Konerko is also a rather undesirable player right now with 2 years and $24M left on his deal, a full no trade clause and coming off a pretty horrible 2008 campaign, KW may look to trade him but it will be an uphill battle especially with the economy in the s***ter and a far superior player in Adam Dunn looking at perhaps only $5M a year, which makes Konerko's contract look awful. Dye is easily the most tradeable, is comming off a very good 2008 season, has only a 6 team no trade clause, can play the outfield and is only signed through this season so if the Sox are out of it come July KW will undoubtadly reexplore the idea of trading Jermaine.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) I just saw this post. we should all have our PS3 names somewhere. Mine is THE_Rockraines (shocker) Mine's K_A_L_A_P_S_E Can not wait for Killzone 2
  19. I find if amazing that people still believe Scott Boras and his annual glowing offseason reports. All of his clients are 100% healthy and ready to have breakout 2009 seasons! I guess you're willing to believe the lies of a scumbag like Boras when he represents a f***ing deity like Joe Crede. I guess Boras' scheme to keep Crede off the field for the remainder of the 2008 season is working on some people. He's a 31 year old broken down shell of a formerly good baseball player. It's time to move on and finally find some stability at a position that's been in turmoil since the end of the 2006 season.
  20. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 04:12 PM) True, but Alexei and Danks aren't arb-eligible for a while. Jenks will almost certainly walk when he hits free agency. And by the time that CQ will needs to be locked up, Paulie, Mark, Dotel, and Linebrink will all be gone. Swisher's departure has also freed up a moderate amount of payroll. Danks is arb eligible for the first time following the 2009 season so his cheap years have just about run out and Alexei can walk in free agency following the 2011 season he has a clause in his contract that allows him to forego arbitration.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 10:41 AM) Incorrect. Once the draft passes he's free to sign anywhere without compensation. I was just talking about the offseason, there is no offseason deadline. If you actually read the rest of the thread you'd see that your conclusion was reached and discussed further 3 days ago.
  22. This was a deal to avoid arbitration, he was eligible for the first time so this buys out his first 2 years. He's still 3 years away from free agency.
  23. QUOTE (onedude @ Jan 21, 2009 -> 11:46 PM) i was HUGE into socom 2. Then three i was about half interested....and confrontations problems just blew me off the franchise. Until they can make a must have addicting shooter again, I'll continue to pass on it. I have Confrontation....and last I played it was fixed, I just can't come to play it...just no interest for me. Yeah I was actually addicted to SOCOM II for a few weeks back in High School, I would spend 10 straight hours in a US Central Desert Glory room. I got so good with the M4A1-SD, M87ELR and the HK5-SD it was scary. Then SOCOM III came out and the online multiplayer had a ton of bugs and lagtime and they didn't include Desert Glory or Fish Hook in the release so I ended up going back to SOCOM II. It's a shame the franchise has fallen off as much as it has since II was released, I never had as much fun playing a video game as I did playing SOCOM II.
  24. So how exactly do we determine who is the rightful owner of the nickname "pudge"? Because Carlton Fisk was hardly the first catcher to be affectionately called that.
