  1. I'm going to update these galleries throughout the Spring: Gallery of Smaller Pics (44) Gallery of Large Pics (1)
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 07:10 PM) Why is Thome sticking a needle in someone's arm? Oh No! That's Swish. The picture that is supposed to be Danks is actually Sisco. And still no pictures of Quentin.
  3. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 02:56 PM) If he Swisher has a plus arm, that means the Sox would have 3 plus arms in the outfield (assuming Quentin is in fact the left fielder). That would be the first time in a long time that has happened. From Merkin's column yesterday: That has to make Quentin the favorite for the LF job.
  4. QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 01:50 PM) ' I really don't understand all these people saying Owens should be the 4th OF. Do you really think a winning team can have Nick Swisher in CF? I don't. I want Owens out there every day because he can chase balls in the gap. Swisher will let them drop for doubles. Whatever offensive issues Owens has will be made up for by the balls he chases down. I want him starting - and batting 9th - every day. Let Quentin come off the bench this year and take over for Dye next year. Have you ever even watched Swisher in CF or Owens for that matter? Owens is nothing special out there, he's fast sure but he provides no other defensive ability aside form his closing speed. From what I've seen of Swisher he's not that bad out there, pretty close to average with a damn good arm which will allow him to hold hitters to singles on balls hit softly in front of him, unlike another OF on the roster who possesses a puss arm. When you factor in the projected difference in offensive production between Quentin and Owens suddenly the nominal difference between Swisher and Owens in center doesn't look so bad.
  5. QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 12:28 PM) But a stolen base does not move anybody over Therefore a single and a stolen base can not be equal to 2 TB.
  6. Am I missing something with Sportsline? We're like a week into spring training and thus far the only 2 teams that have had pics uploaded are the f***ing Mets and Yankees. I f***ing hate New York.
  7. Another thing to keep in mind: The 40 man roster is currently full, someone would have to be dropped in order for this to happen. (assuming it's a major league deal)
  8. There have been a couple surprise minor league deals signed this offseason (Jorge Julio immediately comes to mind) so you never know.
  9. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) I'd sooner deal Floyd than Danks if we're going for Roberts. Too bad there's a huge difference in trade value between the two.
  10. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 09:13 PM) If they get rid of Masset for Fatolo, KW has had an offseason to be fired over. 1. Waste money on Uribe 2. Move Garland, a solid #3 SP who is 27 for a 35 y/o SS 3. Drain your already weak minors on a guy who averages .260 with many Ks 4. Then Masset/Floyd gone for Colon. Ridiculous. Orlando Cabrera is 33, the Uribe situation is a non-issue and to characterize Swisher as a .260 hitting K machine is a joke.
  11. QUOTE(chisox2334 @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) If true I really duno what the w sox are really doing. This spring training has alot players at attention... Brian Anderson seems to me going be gone, Masset is out of options, Floyd is out of options but they like him alot. Does Danks have options go back down? Danks should have 3 options remaining. And here's the link for anyone who's curious: http://www.impactodeportivo.com.do/?op=dis...amp;format=html
  12. This paper is notorious for being, well, wrong. We'll see.
  13. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 07:17 PM) What makes people think Crede can obtain us draft picks? First off there's no chance he'll become a type A, and I don't know how good of season he'll have to have just to become a type "B" free agent which would net us one supplemental pick. Big whoop. He'd have to surpass his '05 production in order to qualify as a Type B.
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 06:02 PM) If we could get them at equal cost, sure. But Hall is already under contract for this season. Hall is going to be paid about $2 million no matter what. So is any upgrade from him to Olivo worth extra money? I would have had no problem with the Sox eating the $1.75M remaining on Hall's deal if it meant signing Olivo. What's $1.75M to a team like the Sox? Hell MacDougal is going to make more than that next year.
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 05:43 PM) BTW, heard a great segment on Cowherd's show today. Basically about a third or more of baseball's GMs hold degrees from Ivy League and similar schools. K-Dub is quite at home in baseball being a Stanford Alum. So it seems if you are going to impersonate a baseball insider, claiming an Ivy League degree is great cover. Anyway, the GM as CEO comparison makes sense in the suits. KW is one of only 2 GMs in the league who are former major league baseball players.
  16. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 11:46 PM) Anyone who says that's not hot is a liar. It's not hot.
  17. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 11:33 PM) My appologies for saying 'battle'. I should have said it more clearly considering both guys are proven. It will be Ozzie's 'decision' on who he wants to see pitch the opener against the Tribe. The decision has already been made, I can guarantee you that. Baring injury Buehrle will take the ball on March 31st in Cleveland.
  18. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) I understand that, but if he doesn't have a job, Boras doesn't have a leg to stand on...plus you can get hahn on the case. I knew there was something wrong with Lopez and just assumed it was the Boras factor but I remember now he had TJ surgery in August so he's probably going to miss the entire 2008 season.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 07:52 PM) Just out of curiosity, who do people consider to be some of the better hitting coaches in the league? Milt Thompson
  20. QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 07:26 PM) I can't get into all those freckles You don't find measles sexy?
  21. QUOTE(greg775 @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 06:28 PM) I hope both are long gone. Wasserman is not good and does anybody really want to see MacDougal's wildness kill us in crucial situations? I'd prefer MacD over Wasserman if one makes it over the other. I hope our new guys are the answer over last year's disasters. Have you even seen Wassermann pitch? He's your type of pitcher, he throws the ball over the plate and gets [right handed] hitters out. He has a pretty simple approach.
  22. Since we really haven't heard much on Ozuna's recovery from the broken fibula I thought I'd post this: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...oxnt18.article#
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 18, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) EDIT: It's on nfl.com now and I spelled Muhammad wrong. So did NFL.com, don't beat yourself up too bad.
