QUOTE(Goldmember @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) we can always google bomb it like we did to moronotti last year... Marriotti and douchebag go hand in hand.
  2. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) I accept it is not going to happen any more than we are getting Ken Griffey in a trade. That doesn't mean I have to shut up about it. And if we wanted to put Chris Young on the 40 man, I'd be all too happy to release Timo Perez to make that happen. (I'm sure there are other options of guys we could get rid of.) Just realize it is a choice management is making. In my opinion the wrong choice. Look at Franceour for Atlanta. The kid is a lightening rod for the team. I think Brian Anderson, Chris Young, or Jerry Owens could be a similar lightening rod for our team, which looks asleep right now, if management would let them fill that role. Trouble is, I don't know which of those 3 guys could actually get hot. (Remember Joe Crede's first year call up? Still the best he's ever hit.) My guess would be Young, Anderson, Owens in that order, with Joe Borchard a distant 4th (but still a better choice than Timo Perez). I picked Young because his K/BB ratio is better than Anderson's. But I'm willing to let Anderson have the first crack because he's already up here. Ozzie, please play him. Everyday. 2-3 days on the bench and you can guarantee he'll go stale. Jeff Francoeur is also the 14th ranked prospect in all of baseball as well as #1 in the Braves Org. There were no other minor league OFers left in front of him after Kelly Johnson so he was the next to come up after they lost both of their corner OFers. The White Sox currently have a temperary spot open in LF and that is all. There are at least 2 OFers ahead of Chris Young in the orginization in Borch and Brian Anderson (who is now up). They weren't going to purchase his contract and bring him up for the extent of Pods' injury and leave Anderson down in AAA, seeing how Anderson is ahead of him and there's only one spot on the roster for them to fill. Brian Anderson most likely will stay on the team through August and then September. Chris Young and Jerry Owens will both stay in B-ham through the end of the AA season. You will not be seeing them in the big leagues anytime soon. Especially Owens. Timo is here to stay.
  3. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) Where did you find the lineup at? Reifert's blog.
  4. Timo has a career .294 BA and a .824 OPS in 17 ABs vs Radke in his career which includes a HR from earlier this season. Dye has a career .148 BA and a .448 OPS in 27 ABs vs Radke in his career. Even is he wants to get Timo in there for Dye that does not mean he should lead off. He swings for the fences a lot, which is odd for a player of his size and stature and he is deceptively slow which is not a good quality for a leadoff man. Stick Arow in the leadoff spot, he was absolutly ridiculous there last year.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) Timo's leading off again. Anderson is also in the lineup tonight hitting 9th and playing right. This is my last game before I go to school My head hurts. Perez, LF Iguchi, 2B Everett, DH Konerko, 1B AJ, C ... Rowand, CF Uribe, SS Crede, 3B Anderson, RF
  6. Maybe this new found bulk will provide Ryan with a HR sometime in the near future. It would help his resume out a lot if he atleast had one for the '05 season.

    Is it possible...

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) Does that heal on it's own? How long..? My bisep took 5 months to heal and a part of that was rehab so I could start throwing agian. With a torn calf muscle you'd probably want to see a doctor. He'll most likely advise you to give it rest and try to stay off it. You'd want to do gental exercises to relax the muscle. Right now I'd hit it with heat and see if it gets any better. If it doesn't I'd go see my doctor, your doctor could prescibe an anti-inflamitory to help with any swelling. Generally it doesn't take too long to recover from a fiber tear.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) "Except" a trade? I think you mean "accept". Grammar police coming at ya! Why must you do that? I think we have established by now that for the most part I'll use proper grammar but at times there will be a serious slip up and I'll do something stupid like that. If really want to find something wrong with my posts, just about every one contains a comma splice.
  9. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) I'm going with Bafia. There is a large groupy following for Bafia and Ozney, it's very scary.

    Is it possible...

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) This happened Friday night.. and right next to the lump it feels like there is a small hole I'm gonna wait and see. The pain goes away when I have a few beers so I'm good tonight, tomorrow, Friday and Saturday. If there's a small hole in you calf muscle then there is a good chance that you could have snapped a muscle fiber. When I tore my bisep 2 years ago it just felt like an empty space where the muscle should have been.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) He will be. He hits Radke fairly well, and Dye has done horrible against Radke. I bet Timo plays in RF tonight. Timo has 2 HRs this season one against the Tigers in May and one on April 9th against Radke, of course Paul Konerko and Carl Everett also went deep in that game.
  12. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:34 PM) Your buddy was listening to the Dan Patrick show. It took them 5 minutes to figure out what number Sosa wears.
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) Kenny Williams is way past plan B guys. He tried everything he could to help this team. Everything was either over priced or just plain s***ty. Right now the plan is that the players we have, need to step up, period. ie: Ron Villone for Brandon McCarthy. This was one of the worst trade deadlines in the history of MLB. The Marlins overpayed for Villone by giving up Bazardo, luckily Kenny didn't bite on a similar trade.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) I think if the Royals really wanted to move him the Astros, Dodgers, and Angels would have made a HUGE push for him. I think Royals will hold on to him, maybe they think they can get more for him in the offseason and explore it then It's not about what they're getting in return. It's about the fact that he is the team leader, the best player on that team and nearly the only major leaguer they have. If they dump him, Royals fans will have 0 reason to watch the games. Kotchman for Sweeney is more than enough for the Royals to accept the trade, they're not going to get much more than that during the offseason.
  15. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:45 PM) Bingo. Actually, when those rumors surfaced, I was VERY suprised the Royals didn't pursue it further. Both would benefit in a MAJOR, MAJOR way. Sweeny is off to play on a contending teams in the playoffs. The Royals have the 1B of the future. Yet, no deal. Figure that one out. Sweeny ain't going anywhere. Which means if the Royals wouldn't except Casey Kotchman, a 10 ten prospect in all of baseball and a top 5 position player for Mike Sweeney, it's going to be near impossible for the Sox to pry him away from the Royals.

    Is it possible...

It's possible that you could have tennis leg which is caused after the calf muscle has been torn, you can still walk but usually with a limp. The Calf muscle is generally torn when you use a sudden burst of agility such as sprinting.
  17. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) Also, you might have to top the Angels offer of Kotchman. I don't know if Kenny is even interested in Sweeny, but, you certainly can't afford to get in a bidding war over him. Nothing doing. Casey Kotchman >>> anything we have in our minor leagues. It'd take a s*** load to get him.
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) read the part where I said several others. I'm not going to waste my whole time typing it. But yes Garland, Mulder, Hudson and Harden and Zito over Buehrle. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) Know what, f*** this board. You can't stand to have anyone on the team criticized. f*** it. I'll find another board. Now I don't have to read the absolute s*** that he posts on a daily basis. :D
  19. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) 1)Buehrle is overrated on these boards. Some people saying they wouldn't take a pitcher over him and some saying he's the best young pitcher in the leagues. Um no, he's a nice pitcher, but I'd happily take Oswalt, Clemens, Pettite, Peavy, Santana, Perez(when healthy), F. Hernandez, Dontrelle, Bartolo and several others over him. Oliver Perez, LMAO. The guy was healthy before he decided to go around kicking s*** and he posted a 6.16 ERA and 1.64 WHIP. I'm sorry but he's going to have to put up a 2.98 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 239 Ks for more then 1 season before I start calling him an elite pitcher. This is most likely Clemens' last year so as of next season Buehrle will be more valuable. Go ahead and check Dontrelle Willis' splits for Pre and post all-star break for the past 3 years. The guy is a very good 1st half pitcher but once July rolls around he suddenly goes in the s***ter. ERA for Pre/Post AS Break: '03: Pre- 2.08 Post- 4.60 '04: Pre- 3.99 Post- 4.05 '05: Pre- 2.39 Post- 4.17 Career: Pre- 2.84 Post- 4.28
  20. QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 01:49 PM) This can't be the whole list...it looks like only the AL East, Astros, and some stars are on it. EDIT: Mets too.* The cleared list is only Griffey, the Mets and Yankees.
  21. I'm about 99.9% sure that this is not the game thread, it is in fact the Sox & Roll announcment. Yet it's reading like a game thread.
  22. QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:57 AM) Ramirez is just awesome on defense though. Defense at SS shouldn't have that kind of affect on a players rating otherwise you'd see J.J. Hardy right there with Hanley Ramirez, considering how most people see Hardy as being the superior defensive SS. Ramirez has him in AVG and by a little in OBP but Hardy has more power seeing how Hanley has about 0 power.
