I am torn on this a gamble either way. Not against it though.

Bears signed NT John Jenkins, formerly of the Seahawks, to a one-year contract. Jenkins was expected to meet with the Colts after his visit with the Bears but saw everything he needed to see in Chicago. The 27-year-old fared poorly over 217 snaps for the Seahawks and Saints last season. Related: Seahawks Source: Adam Caplan on Twitter

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) It was actually the most accurate of all of the Obamacare projections: http://www.commonwealthfund.org/publicatio...ll-forecast-aca CBO scoring was also a gigantic part of developing the ACA. Most of the creation of that bill was due to feedback on the CBO score on how to get the cost closer to neutral, including phaseouts of the medicaid funding to states. https://www.forbes.com/sites/theapothecary/...s/#112efd3346a7 Article disagrees

You could not wipe your ass with the last CBO report that was not even close on anything when Obamacare came out. Now it's the end all beat all. I take anything from CBO with caution their track record not so good.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 13, 2017 -> 08:19 AM) Wheaton got $5 million guaranteed. He's on the roster. That was posted after Wright signed and before Wheaton signed. Bears did not sign 1 of the top 40 rated free agents, but they sure paid the guys like it.

Gar/Pax does not care jobs safe as can be.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Markus Wheaton's contract with the Bears amounts to a one-year deal at $6 million. The full contract is for two years at $11 million with $5 million guaranteed, and apparently $6 million in year one. It sounds like the second year on Wheaton's deal amounts to a team option. So the Bears gave Wheaton a deal similar to Brandon Marshall's, who landed a two-year, $11 million contract from the Giants with another $1 million available through incentives. Reports out of Chicago had the team struggling to woo free agents due to organizational instability coming off a 3-13 season. The Bears were forced to severely overpay backup-caliber players Wheaton, CB Marcus Cooper, TE Dion Sims, and QB Mike Glennon. Source: Jason La Canfora on Twitter

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Mar 12, 2017 -> 03:26 PM) Mike Thomas: Bad hire or worst hire? Worst hire when he left Cincinnati for Illinois they threw a party. Brian Kelly hated him and had nothing good to say about him. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 12, 2017 -> 10:58 AM) Coaches wouldn't leave Butler and VCU for Illinois, that is pretty much my point, though I am pretty sure there were more than that who weren't even interested publicly. EDIT: Pretty sure Martin was connected at one point and flat out said no. They had a lot to do with some coaches not wanting to work under Mike Thomas AD than not wanting the Illinois job at the time. -
Wright was underused as the Titans' slot receiver last year, but he has the talent to make an impact in Chicago. His signing makes Eddie Royal's $5 million cap hit expendable. Cameron Meredith, Kevin White, and Wright should open 2017 as Chicago's top three wideouts, with Markus Wheaton competing for a roster spot. The 20th overall pick in the 2012 draft, 27-year-old Wright offers vertical ability in the slot. He underachieved in Tennessee due to clashes with several different coaching staffs and hard-luck injuries Per Rotoworld

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Mar 11, 2017 -> 04:30 PM) #Bears announce they've signed DB Marcus Cooper to a three-year contract. It's a fallback signing after Chicago struck out on Stephon Gilmore and A.J. Bouye. Cooper has plus size (6'2/192) for DC Vic Fangio's scheme and had four interceptions as a 13-game starter in Arizona last year, but he got flamed in coverage. Out of 120 qualified cornerbacks at Pro Football Focus, only six had worse pass-coverage grades than Cooper. Ideally, Cooper would be the Bears' No. 4 corner behind Tracy Porter, Prince Amukamara, and Bryce Callahan. Source: Jeremy Fowler on Twitter Can you say toast cover skills are awful. I am sure Pace will over pay badly.

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Mar 11, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) It's official: Illinois has fired John Groce About 2 years too late. -
Bears signed OT Tom Compton, formerly of the Falcons. Compton is a career reserve. He played just 70 snaps for the Falcons last season. The Bears have weak starting tackles in LT Charles Leno and RT Bobby Massie, but Compton shouldn't be in the starting mix. Related: Falcons Source: Jason La Canfora on Twitter

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 10, 2017 -> 08:33 PM) Sessions asked for the resignation of 46 US attorneys with no notice and for the resignation to be effective immediately. Replacing AG's is common, but not doing it like this. These are all Senate confirmed positions so it'll be a long time before every replacement is nominated and confirmed. Clinton fired ALL 93 US attorney's in 1993 right after taking office hardly anything new.

PWInsider has confirmed that Impact sent a fifteen-page cease and desist letter targeting Matt and Jeff Hardy, and perhaps others, demanding that they immediately stop using the gimmick.Impact is claiming, as earlier reports noted, that they own the intellectual properties created by Matt and Jeff due to their now-expired contracts and that they are not to use anything related to the Broken gimmick moving forward. ROH received letter prior to 15th Anniversary show tonight. -
Getting close to nut cutting time on a Q deal. I think someone is going to pony up soon.

Bears GM Ryan Pace confirmed Mike Glennon is "our starting quarterback." Pace added he is "fired up" about the possibility. Okay, champ. Glennon's contract contains $16 million guaranteed year one, which is starting quarterback money. The deal is very team friendly from that point on, however, suggesting the Bears are not sold on Glennon as the long-term answer. It will not be surprising if they add another quarterback relatively early in the draft. Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter Glad somebody is fired up.

Bears re-signed K Connor Barth on a one-year contract. The deal includes $155,000 guaranteed. Barth was fine for the Bears after joining just before Week 1, but his 78.3 conversion rate is nothing to write home about. Still, he did convert all but one extra point, and the guaranteed money suggests he will have a big leg up if Chicago brings in any competition in camp. Source: Brad Biggs

When JR dies selling would be great for Sox fans. -
Bears signed TE Dion Sims, formerly of the Dolphins, to a three-year, $18 million contract. It includes $10 million guaranteed. It's a ton of money for a blocking tight end who was forced into a pass-catching role for the Dolphins last season. Sims has a sure pair of hands, but is not a playmaker. He's averaged a well below average 9.4 yards on his 74 career grabs. He'll be second in line for targets behind Zach Miller. Source: Mike Garafolo on Twitter Did any team overpay for so little value than the Bears so far? Pace earns a D for today's signings.
