QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) I agree, he was my idol growing up. I think it was two seasons before he died, he started the season with 6 sacks on opening day! He was an absolute beast, I'm glad I actually got to see him in person. Who else here can claim they actually have a Derrick Thomas authentic jersey? Yeah he was my idol for most of my childhood, especially since football was my favorite sport then. He I also remember him getting 6 sacks on opening Sunday Night against Oakland, I think it was Sunday night anyways. And I don't remember this but on November 11th, 1990, which was my 5th birthday, he had 7 sacks in one game against Seattle, but Seattle ended up winning that game on the last play I believe. Anyways I saw him in person when I was in 2nd grade, I was too shy to go up and get his autograph when I could've easy at training camp in River Falls, Wisconsin. I really regret not doing that. I also have a jersey of him, not authentic though. I never really was the same in regards to football after that. Baseball became my favorite sport then. There has been no Chief that has worn #58 since then but have they even retired it? I think I checked a while back and they still hadn't had it retired, according to the website.

barry bonds impersonates paula abdul
WilliamTell replied to thedoctor's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I think it's hilarious, Bonds would be the last person I'd expect to see do that. -
I'll be a homer and pick the USA.

I don't blame the Nationals one bit. He comes in and says where he is and isn't playing, the team is more important than he is.

I'll be at work but I can't wait to see the box score, haha.

It'd be cool to see Aaron and others come back, and I had to be cold hearted about this but I'll be happy once it's done when Aaron and fans can move on and Aaron can contribute to the Phillies. It's not that I don't like hearing about Aaron, but he's a member of the Phillies now, which means he has new obligations for them and not us obviously.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 09:17 AM) To all of the catholics in the house... What are you giving up for lent, and what are you binging on today? Catholics don't have to be the only ones to give up something for Lent. But this Lutheran can't think of something, haha.

SD state legislature voting to ban abortion
WilliamTell replied to samclemens's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 08:10 AM) I have to ask those of you who are in favor of banning abortion (or pro-life or whatever we are calling it today) a question. If your stance is that the fertilized egg is life immediately, then why the rape exception? That makes no sense to me. If I believed that life started at conception (which I am still open to, I am not dead-set on this topic yet), then to me, the ONLY logical exception that would be acceptable is when the mother's life is on the line. If conception occurs via rape, that life (if it is one at that point) is still a life, regardless of what action created it. The crime itself is horrific, but if life is to be protected no matter what, than rape cannot be an exception in my view. So can you explain that, please? The rape exception just doesn't sit well with me. I can see where you're coming from. It's such a grey area, especially with the rape case. My viewpoint is pro life with the exception of rape and if the mother's life is endangered because of the pregancy. -
I remember this very well, Kansas City ended up losing I believe but it doesn't matter. I still have a hard time believing he's gone......

Isn't that just weird how they always go in 3's?

SD state legislature voting to ban abortion
WilliamTell replied to samclemens's topic in The Filibuster
I'm not going to read through all the 7 pages but my opinion on abortion is that it's not the child's fault the parents have some fun one night, don't punish them for the parents mistakes. If it's going to save the mother that's one thing, and about rape, that's another, but if abortion is ever completely banned except for the health of the mother and rape, then there will be a lot more rape cases coming up. -
Could Chicago host the 2016 games?
WilliamTell replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub

It was a pleasant surprise when I came onto the site this morning.

Does XM carry spring training games?

I don't think he should've said this especially since there's equality and such. But there is a double standard with this aswell, if women said a man's place was outside mowing the lawn, no one would really care, but still if I were Brian I wouldn't have made those comments.

I'll give Frank a standing ovation if I'm there. I'm the 9th person to vote and the 9th person to vote for a standing ovation. It's not like he's mad at the fans, I think he'll be excited when the fans stand for him, and it should be expected to, he had many, many great years here, it's the least any of us can give back.

I don't even think she'll win the Democrat nominee, but that's also wishful thinking. -
Matt Kenseth wins in California.

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Feb 26, 2006 -> 04:10 PM) ^^^^^^^^^ Chicago has more pieces in place than Atlanta did. Which is why Chicago should be able to have it. -

If Atlanta can have it, why not Chicago? -
that's too bad though, I always hate to see a career end with injuries, assuming it does end.
