  1. I didn't even notice he got banned. I was reading the Olympic thread last night and things got a little owly.
  2. I listened to liberals today say Cheney shot the guy on purpose. We basically had an all out Republican vs. Democrat war again, these "wars" get so funny. But it's nice to not hear the liberals complain for once, making fun of Cheney is kinda refreshing.
  3. I love seeing Madison on your top 5. lol I'm a Madison lover as everyone can tell.
  4. I thought Bode Miller was a class act when they inteviewed him afterwards, he's right about no one being able to catch the gold medalist.
  5. Since when did the French come from behind???? haha joking, that was an awesome run he had.
  6. He'll have a hard time staying over the Mendoza line if he signs with a team.
  7. I love watching speed skating, they all look so graceful out there.
  8. This is the very last game of the season, 1 more game isn't gonna hurt. The NFL Draft will have it's own thread and then in August the NFL 2006 season will have it's own thread.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 05:53 PM) "I plan to take over the state of Texas and turn it into a park where I will hunt the most dangerous game of all. MAN!" I'm sure that's his priority goal after taking over the world.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 05:46 PM) Washington actually I believe stretched his powers hugely, simply because there was no way for the executive branch to function as it was written in the Constitution and Bill o' Rights. Running the DOD, Treasury, etc., there's simply no way one man could do all of that. Look through the initial writing of the constitution...you'll find no mention of the formation of a "Cabinet" of any sort. He came up with the cabinet so that he could manage things somehow, and created the offices. That was a huge stretch of presidential power right there. The Constitution is a brilliant piece of work, the great James Madison at his finist.
  11. Going into today Norway led the medal count with 4. I must say I'm proud of my heritage but let's go USA!
  12. Thoughts and prayers from me also.
  13. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) I believe most of Washington's reputation does come out of his presidency. He did not do much, but that's part of his greatness. He did not attempt to stretch his powers, when the exact workings of checks and balances were still being perfected. Noone was really sure what a president would do, and Washington's immense esteem made his model of a limited presidency very influential. He also delivered a prescient warning on partisanship that was immediately and forever ignored. Yes he said we shouldn't get into parties which now looks like a very wise statement. And he also set the president for only serving 2 terms when some people wouldn't have minded him to become king. And him and John Adams both made sure they avoided any other conflicts with countries because they both knew it'd be even harder to fight another war. As for the Revolutionary War, who knows if the Colonists would've won it had there been another head general instead of Washington.
  14. I'm glad Art Shell gets another chance to coach. I always liked him.
  15. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 09:55 AM) How in holy hell do you not put Andrew Johnson, a consensus bottom 5, on that list? Yeah him and congress just couldn't work anything out, I would've put him on the list. I'm glad to see William Henry Harrison isn't on the list with his 1 month of duty, that's not really fair to him. I went with Millard Fillmore though, the 19th Century had a few good presidents, but a lot of bad presidents.
  16. Is the question about best president during his presidency, or what he did through out their life? I love George Washington, don't get me wrong, but I think almost all of his glory comes from the Revolutionary War. The person I would vote for is James Madison who isn't on the list not surprisingly. He's normally forgotten but that's how it goes. I will vote for Thomas Jefferson because Madison was his Secretary of State and Madison had a huge role in the Louisiana Purchase.
  17. QUOTE(minors @ Feb 10, 2006 -> 11:34 PM) The feds should hold some reasonability but most of it should fall on Blanco and Nagin. Yep, I'm not saying the Federal level shouldn't help, but obviously the State and Local goverenments need to most responsible for getting help as soon as possible.
  18. This is a good move by the Texans, now we'll see what they do with the first pick, either trade it or draft Bush.
  19. At least we got rid of a steriod user and a chair thrower.
  20. With Jermaine O'Neal not being able to play, either Arenas or Redd should make it. Unless they wanna have another big man on the roster.
  21. lol Raja Bell huh. I'll go with the defending champ Quinton Richardson. (I think he's the defending champ.)
  22. I only did it until 5th grade, and by then we had the option of what we wanted to do.
