Look Holbrook called two low strikes. Of course it's not when we throw it there.
-
Another umpire who has no clue on the zone. f***ing replace them with robots already.
-
Hawk, the walk comes around to score. Yet silence on the fact that Alexei f***ed up a routine ground ball.
-
Looks like Holbrook has super vision where he can see the hands break across the plate without being at 3rd or first. He must be a f***ing cyborg.

IS THIS THE END OF OUR FAITHFUL HEROES?

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 08:37 PM) yeah, where's this? It usually shows up right before the "are you in or out" annual thread. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) I completely agree with this. He doesn't know how to rebuild. His idea of rebuilding is trading vets packaged with a contract albatross to gain fiscal relief. He doesn't look for baseball players he looks for flawed athletes he can either fix or hope that their natural physical prowess can overcome. -

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 03:29 PM) It's reading the same book over and expect the ending to be different. I will still hold on to my theory that the organization lacks mental toughness. They are the Cubs of the AL. It is a reoccurring theme. Getting swept after the asb by our chief protagonist. http://www.southsidesox.com/2011/9/4/24053...reak-both-apply -

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) We need a starting second baseman who can hit. Gordon Beckham would be one of the best utility infielders in baseball. Then we wouldn't need to carry Escobar and Hudson on the roster. We need a team that can hit. Everyone picks a player that they feel that we can replace when in reality the guys who are consistently hit are the outlier. -

QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 03:07 PM) Itll be interesting to see how this team responds after being swept. It isnt over yet guys. Lots of games left to play. Detroit has been playing bad baseball for most of the season. It was only a matter of time before they went on a hot streak. My favorite is the standings context statements "if I could have told you that we would of been within two games on this date in the offseason you would of taken it". Of course the forget to state the qualifier of well you were 3.5 games in front of everyone a week ago. We weren't supposed to be competitive. The twins tigers are flawed. Their [variable] is not that good. -

We seem to have a knack on getting swept to gets passed in our division after the asb. A lot of times, a single victory is needed. -

I guess Konerko was expecting something besides over the plate. -

QUOTE (TheCut87 @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) im not arguing where he should be placed in the lineup, if it was up to me the 3-5 would be Rios, Konerko, Dunn....all i am saying is he is this season Dunn doing what you paid him to do His OBP should be .370 or higher to justify the low BA. He is at .350. -

QUOTE (TheCut87 @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 02:08 PM) If his walk total is up then yes, this means he is making up for his low AVG by getting on base via the walk. You signed the guy for the 40 HR and 100 RBI not to hit .300 And the best place for an all or nothing bat like this is the 3 hole? -

QUOTE (TheCut87 @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 02:01 PM) at the end of the day does it really matter if he hits .200 if he finishes the season with 40+ HRs and 100+ RBIs? All I am saying is if he is getting his walks (continuing to get on base) hrs and rbi's that makes up for his low batting average. We all knew his batting avg wasn't great when he signed here. That is simply something you have to live with and move on So theoretically a .165BA, 40 HR, 100 RBI would suffice for you. -

QUOTE (TheCut87 @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 01:54 PM) once again you didn't pay the guy to hit for average. Everyone knows when adam dunn comes to the plate he is going to do 1 of 3 things....walk, HR or K. He has never been a person to hit for average but as long as he is hitting HRs, driving people in, and getting on base I can take a low batting average. That has never been his thing, no reason we should assume he is going to do that here. Your 3rd hitter in the lineup is not usually the big power swing and miss guy. You usually have your best bat hitting 3rd. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 01:51 PM) He didn't draft Borchard. Borchard was the last first rounder picked by Schueler. I meant that if Borchard was on the draft board every year. He would keep drafting him over and over because the high power with contact issues is his type of guy. I understand Kenny didn't draft him. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 01:43 PM) One of the worst FA signings in Sox history, IMO. It's the poster child of a Kenny Wiliams wants. He has been drafting guys who project power and tools but the bat making contact with the ball is not one of the tools. All things being equal he would draft Borchard again. -
QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 06:24 PM) I've had police try to convince my girlfriend that I hit her for no particular reason before so the "she was swollen at the time but didn't bruise" thing didn't fly with me. The description they gave of both being too drunk makes me wonder if it is as clean-cut as people would like it to see. I've seen a woman drunkenly batter a man physically and verbally and to think he won't retaliate in kind when super drunk is not as unreasonable as simple "wife-beater." But then again, both of us are speculating, aren't we? You're just eager to to pass judgment when the guy probably just got too rough while drunkenly arguing with his girl. He almost certainly made a bad mistake, but I can't be sure that it's as bad or simple as described and I don't think it is fair to convict the non-convicted in this case. I was called into a house which looked like wwiii happened. Wife bleeding, jaw broken eye swollen shut. The hubby is drunk and has scratch marks. She told me that nothing happened either. Guess what. I didn't believe them. He went to jail.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 03:21 PM) This is a pretty savvy move. Seems like there isn't enough info for us to pass judgement on the wife incident, I'll trust KW to have done his homework. Sure, maybe she fell down. On her face like most of the unprosecuted domestics.

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 05:12 PM) Would be nice to go into tomorrows game with a 1.5 game lead It would be nice to get a back rub by Kate Beckinsale as well. By your logic I should run to the living room and peek out the window. Maybe she is there.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 04:45 PM) Why don't we make Alex Rios our #3 hitter then? Rios should be the 3 hitter.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 04:40 PM) I think that's something they seem to miss in evaluating young talent. I don't know if you can evaluate that but the Sox organization seems to have an epic fail in this. Maye the reason 2005 worked is you had a lot of guys that didn't have the Sox stink on them. This is really nothing new. 1st half of the century they folded to the Twins and now it's the Tigers. 05 was about getting a big lead lead in the division early on. We fended off the Indians towards the end. But we do have issues post asb. Everyone presses.
-
We have a serious organizational pucker factor after the asb. I mean just a slight bit of pressure and they press and die on the vine.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 21, 2012 -> 04:27 PM) Youre not excited about the tales of Ron Santo, in a game that has nothing to do with Ron Santo? All Chicago fans love Santo from the way they made that sound.
