  1. Ventura needs to figure out that Rios should be our 3 hole hitter before the point in the season that Guillen figured it out with Dye in 2005.
  2. I chalk this up to our players making the Royals into the Twins. Put a Yankee uni on these guys and we destroy them. Now we have had two days of the broadcast team talking about how hard they are to beat. Not really. It's just another mental hurdle we need to overcome.
  3. I am sure that Bruce Chen And his band of merry friends will ace the tigers and their hitters when they face them.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 09:20 PM) playing for one run off of Chen with Danks bunting was crazy, especially considering how KC ALWAYS fights back vs the Sox. Well the Royals can hit fastballs, so of course we pump them in over and over. Another team in our division that we lose the game before we take the field. Other teams beat the royals by destroying their bad pitching. We get into pitching duels that are created by our hitters.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 7, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) Looks at this lineup the Sox had tonight? A lot of easy outs right now, especially have to bench two of our hottest hitters for two guys who aren't MLB caliber hitters. It's Bruce Chen. There are AAA teams that can put up more than two runs on his garbage.
  6. Royals pitching is meat to the rest of the league. We treat them like an endless group of ace pitchers painting the black with exploding stuff.
  7. Pitch selection there was the issue. No reason to keep pumping fastballs in there with 2 strikes.
  8. Hawk with loser talk. I would rather play the Yankees than the Royals. realyy?? Trust me, teams love playing the Royals.
  9. QUOTE (kapzk @ Aug 4, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) PK back to being bad Shoulder shrug. He is back to being a head case. Maybe We can move him to the 5 hole.
  10. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 09:50 PM) RT @dhnovak: Someone phoned in bomb threat to U.S. Cellular Field. Police bomb unit en route, but no suspicious items seen yet #breakingnews Any homeless men wearing cubs pajamas yelling wooo..
  11. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 09:47 PM) Donno, wasn't Ozzie the king of IBB? No his problem was he was afraid of the little guys and would pitch to the thumpers.
  12. Well the smart move is to walk him. Our previous manager would pitch to him to show how big his nuts were.
  13. I wonder when our manager will figure out how to change the batting order without getting Mr. Shrug and batslam all upset.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 09:36 PM) cough Bat Rios 3rd cough come on PK, flare one to right Considering that Konerko is not hitting, and Dunn is either homer, walk or miss it would be nice to get our best bat in the 3 hole. DeAza, Youk, Rios, Dunn, Konerko, AJ That looks like a better lineup to me.
  15. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 3, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) Shouldn't be an issue, all you have to do is look up what kind of ram you're currently using and buy the same type...Amazon and Newegg pretty much ask what system you have, from what year, and show you exactly what kind of memory to buy. I bought 8 gigs for my iMac for 40 bucks off NewEgg and it worked perfectly. One of our internal staff purchased my Macbook Pro late 2011 model with 4 Gigs of RAM and a 5400 RPM 500 Gig Drive. His reasoning was a bigger drive is better. 5400 RPM drives shouldnt exist on a laptop. They are entirely too slow and have impact on your battery life. So if I order memory from Apple they tell you only 8 Gigs are available for my device, even though you can get 16 gigs on the laptop. So 16Gigs of RAM later and after adding the latest 256Gig SSD drive from OCZ my laptop is running pretty damn quick. GNS3 can finally run this project I am working on. I spend most of my time working on virtual images off of my Mac so outside of processing, IO and memory are very important to me.
  16. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 2, 2012 -> 08:07 AM) He was attacking the Bible. Why should your beliefs be shielded from criticism? There is a difference between a point of debate and saying the bible is written by a bunch of assholes. People are entitled to opinion and of course different views.
  17. With the economy turndown I encounter more people at the local grocery store using the link card. I also have run into lots of abuse. Take tonight for example. Woman in her 30's buys 80 dollars worth of groceries on the link card. Then has a seperate transaction for 120 dollars of alcohol. Walks about the front then gets into a brand new 2012 Audi A4. Leave the assistance for those who need it.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 11:46 PM) My intent was mainly to disassociate Christians with that position on homosexuality. Not all see it the way we assume, just most. I don't mean to make this a religious argument, but only religious topics are offended by fact-based arguments. My assessments of the writers of the bible are very subjective, but I hope the point that (by Earthly perception, which is what every other topic is bound by) humans wrote the Bible. These same humans, whether reading or writing the Bible, would not have understood a discussion of homosexuality since it didn't exist to their knowledge. My opinion is that the Bible makes no statements about homosexuality and thus the practice of marriage is not addressed to that end. My feeling is that too many hide behind their religion to support their fear of alternate sexuality. Greg or other religious folks in this thread may very well not be in this camp, but I cannot help but think that this common reading of religious text is perpetuated by those less noble than our good Soxtalk posters. You don't want to make it a religious argument yet you take the holiest text in Christianity and say it was authored by assholes. The Bible to Christians is a Devine inspired text and not an opinion rag written by some cave dwellers. And you realize that homosexuality did exist back then right. You act like this was some secret.
  19. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 10:39 PM) Didn't read Rush's bulls***, but we should quit saying that being a "Christian" and opposing gay marriage or homosexuality in general is wrong. There are Christians that realize that the Bible was written and assembled by a bunch of assholes that not only had their own agendas and fantasies (here's looking at you, John the Revelator) but also a bunch of assholes that had no grasp of the concept of alternate sexuality. Literally zero. I have heard accounts from people living as recently as the 1950s that WERE GAY but had no idea that those feelings were a known phenomenon or shared by others. Homosexuality being known as a clear cut preference is very new and real sexual attraction and "love" between the same sex wasn't going on around Jesus and his immediate successors. They couldn't address what they didn't know. Marriage as only being between man and woman makes sense since that was the only thing that made sense at the time. It is easy for a Christian to say that the "true" intent was that marriage was an institution of love. Or you can be like me and laugh at the history behind this major world religion and the assembly of its practices and beliefs. Oh look another enlightened atheist here to save the poor Christians from their book written by assholes. I am glad that you are enlightened. Your outrage on intolerance is rich.
  20. Another umpire who doesn't understand the game. Fire them all and start over with umpires who give a damn.
  21. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 08:26 PM) Jesus christ Beckham. Feel free to stop being useless any time at all. He had solid contact that the guy in left caught. Sometimes that happens. Hence why they give them mitts. I understand that he hasn't hit that good. But nothing wrong with that last AB.
  22. Watching the rangers cameraman do the up and down on Emily, the fox correspondent was funny.
  23. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 07:47 PM) That was a tough play, tough to get a throw off and a good throw won't get him anyway What was a tough play. Receiving the ball at first and throwing home.
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2012 -> 07:34 PM) Tyler Flowers thinks he has a good eye, but he just has no concept of the strike zone. Maybe he should be an umpire because they don't need an understanding of the strikezone.
