  1. Paging Mr Rick Hahn, please take the chips away from Kenny before he does something stupid.
  2. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 10:55 PM) Ken Rosenthal Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal #WhiteSox seeking rotation depth. Traded Jackson to save money, now concerned they're too thin. #tradedeadline #MLB 1 minute ago Favorite Retweet Reply Err. Okay. If any moves are made to trade for a starter then they need to fire Kenny right on the spot. Seriously, you had 6 starters then a few days later after you trade one you need another starter. Now I know Kenny loves moving prospects out the door but for the love of god.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) This is the Trade Deadline of the overpay. Don't tell me we couldn't get a complete haul for Quentin, Crain, Frasor, Ohman, Thornton, Floyd, and Danks. We have the wrong GM for trading away. Kenny is always in All In mode. He will just restock the chairs on the titanic in the offseason. He and Ozzie need to go after this year or it will be more of the same.
  4. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 12:24 PM) Would do anything to get Heyward on the Sox Anything???
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 08:25 PM) This, my friends, is why I "overrate" prospects. In the last three years the Phillies have acquired Lee, Oswalt, Halladay and now Pence. And they still get to keep Brown. How awesome would Cabrera look on our team. We however didn't have the horses to make the deal. Successful teams use minor league talent to replenish their ranks with cost controlled players to go with more expensive vets. They also use the minors as trading chits.
  6. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:18 AM) We most likely didn't have the prospects to deal for with Jackson. I think its probably Toronto who called KW for Jackson just so they can deal him out. We couldnt get Miguel Cabrera because we didnt have too much in the farm. Now we have a player we might covet but have to watch another team walk away with him because once again our farm is bare. Its about time for the sox to have a self evaluation on our strategy for amateur talent aquisition and proper development. The good to great teams now all spend money on draft picks, the international free agency period and their development. We treat it like its some nuisance. Its not just about developing players for your major league team its about developing players that other teams covet.
  7. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:21 AM) I wonder why the Blue Jays would go after Edwin Jackson. They aren't making the playoffs this year. 1.) Because if they are using him for draft picks Edwin will decline arbitration. He is a boras client after all. 2.) They most likely are going to take Edwin + a spec or two and spin him for something of more value. Rasmus maybe?
  8. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 01:02 AM) http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/mb/message.asp...0.1&maxT=15 k0na breaking the PV deal with several other Sox posters dismissing it. I am now starting to really fear this deal is pretty much in the books. The guy already has reported 2 trades b4 they were formally announce so I am going with k0na said. I am just hoping its a good prospect which Toronto has plenty of or else I am sure not only me but this whole board and entire fanbase would be after KW head. The only way we get a good prospect back is if we sent money over. This is not the sox mo. Kenny is swinging for the fences this year while shedding money. He has little to no need for prospects as they are only chits to be used in future trades, so this is entirely within the course of reason.
  9. QUOTE (kapzk @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:50 AM) read over on the Blue Jays forum that if the deal is true that they would like to see Edwin + Eric Thames or Edwin + reliever flipped over for Rasmus, that would be really dumb to see KW just give Edwin to see him dealt immediately for the guy he wanted. Blue Jays have been noted to have interested in Rasmus as well. Kenny needs to be immediately fired if a AA spins Edwin into Rasmus and we get a short term reliever + nothing.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:31 AM) One has to wonder if this team has lost so much money this year that KW's been ordered to slash some of the remaining payroll for the season? 28k tonight has to be disappointing. money this Then we will see valuable trading chits being packaged with crap to free up payroll. In essence we will get little long term return on our value. It also adds to a level of risk that our remaining minor league assets might be added to sweeten the pie to remove players that might have little value.
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) So it's a good trade for KW because it dumps Teahen's salary yet the Teahen extension was a tremendous f***up on KW's behalf that next to no one thought was a good idea at the time? I love how KW makes bad trades to cover up for bad trades, that's been his MO over the past few years. So 6 years of Dan Hudson for a season's worth of good production from Jackson (which won us nothing), 2 months of Frasor, a probable mediocre prospect and maybe Type B compensation. Must we give away good starting pitching in every f***ing trade? Go over budget spending a s*** ton of money on players who don't produce so then you're apparently forced to dump good starting pitching for a reliever, a prospect that I assume will be mediocre and a supp. pick in a god damn seller's market because your team sucks and thus attendance is s*** and you need to start slashing payroll. I pray the prospect is good but I don't see why Toronto would throw in a minor leaguer that's worth a damn, it makes no sense. The draft pick we get is worthless to our team. We would need to go overslot to get anything of value. So in the end Daniel hudson + 1 nets us a Mac conference reliever next year.
  12. So we have a manager that is incapable of using a bullpen properly and we gave him another body. Can't wait for the first 8 th inning pressure situation when ozzie leaves frasor warming up while he let's brunet or oh anger those stressful outs. The only thing more irresponsible would be adding another slappy guy to guillens arsenal.
  13. So are we still winners in the Hudson deal. We are not getting much back in the minor league dept for a move to get monitory relief.
  14. He coulnt rip it down in 2007, what makes you think he would rip it down this year. He only knows how to push all in. I await a change in manager and GM so we can stop with short sided trades every f***ing year.
  15. Well the guillen family biographer is lighting up Kenny on twitter. His handlers must be concerned that a few players missing might move them out of Chicago.
  16. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) I think Jake can grind out one more inning, put him out there Ozzie! Someone woke up Manuel.
  17. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 09:03 PM) I find it funny that the jokers on Chicago Tribune Live made it a point to say that if you get through 5 with a lead to pull Peavy, yet our own manager can't tell that the guy doesn't have the arm stretched out enough to be throwing 100 pitches. Seriously, Ozzie's a f***ing idiot. We need to treat Peavy like a 5th starter. Get him through 5 and then use your bullpen to get the rest of the way. If we did that we would get some killer production from peavy's spot.
  18. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) According to baseball-reference, opponents entering tonight were batting 24-for-59 off Peavy once he gets to 75 pitches Oney spits on your stats. Cowley asks you to get out of your parents basement. Ozzie just asks if stats won a ws like he has.
  19. Right now Oney is calling Cowley prepping tonight's Morpheus quits on season, while a lone hero hungry for victory tries to overcome Kenny's mistakes "story".
  20. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 02:26 PM) Unless the Sox are rebuilding, Sale will be in the pen. Even if MB and Jackson leave, I still think the Sox are more likely to try and find a diamond in the rough FA pitcher as the 5 and keep sale in the MR role. Well with where they drafted him his endgame should be the rotation or closer. If he is stuck in MR then it was a severe overdraft and we would be better off flipping him to another team. His endgame should be in the rotation where he has a few pitches. The only questions is durability with his delivery.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/...h-movement-team I think this is just a bunch of hot air from Kenny since he isn't much for firesales or youth movements, not to mention his job (among many others) very well may be on the line based on how the rest of this season goes. To me, this is just KW trying to motivate the team. Maybe you disagree, though. Either way, interesting read. I figure that they go on a little run this week and he trades Viciedo and reed for some vet. KW doesn't believe in youth movements. He didn't in 07, he won't now.
  22. Can we get the stupid Germans bombing pearl harbor quote over with. Then we can all get rally x player avatars because it worked in 05.
  23. Kenny: Well you tricky reporters got me. The actual deal is Edwin Jackson + thornton + a prospect. They are asking for Viciedo or Reed. I hope to get other parties interested in Jackson so we can get more bang for the buck. We have instructed Hawk and Stoney to start a disinformation campaign. Please can you bring your cameras into the war room. Please allow me to turn the big board around so you can get a good look at my wish list.
  24. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) FWIW, latest from Cowley, apparently through a source in front office, says there's nothing to the Rasmus rumors. THis just means that they didnt tell Ozzie, so Oney doesnt know.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 06:08 PM) Who? Swisher is one, but he did not work with Walker. That is a fact. Its one reason the Sox got rid of him. I hope you don't say Wilson Betemit. He batted 45 times for the White Sox. I can name a few pitchers that flourished after leaving the Sox and Don Cooper walks on water. I think Walker would be a lot more popular if he got hammered and went on talk radio. Dad to Son: Son I want to talk to you about your report card. You got a D in Geometry. Son to Dad: Becky next door got a D in English. Dad to Son: And how does the girl next doors grade in English remotely have anything to do with your geometry grades? Still trying to figure out how a discussion on The hitting coach automatically links the pitching coach in. Hey comparing Jamarillo to Walk, sure valid they do the SAme thing and it's apples to apples.
