  1. So it seems that teams outside of the sox do score on Bruce Chen.
  2. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 08:37 PM) 1 hit And the most infuriating thing will be when our hitters fall over themselves to complement Chen. Now according to Stone, Chen is Mark Buerhle. Okay that's not water they give to the announcers, it's bourbon.
  3. 1 f***ing hit so far. Really. I mean the corpseball teams of the past laugh at this offense.
  4. QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) If Gordon Beckham never plays for us again, I won't be upset. The first thing that happens if the sox ditch beckham. A competent hitting coach will have to undo what he learned here. And Beckhams replacement gets to learn how to spread his base wide and emulate the rowand stance and swing. Mechanical looking sure, effective no so much, loved by our opposing pitchers yes.
  5. I don't care what it costs I am getting the weekend package for so fest because the q&a sessions should be amazing.
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 08:10 PM) You guys can b**** about Rios, but at least he is making good contact and going to right. After he batted last time, the next 2 batters did far worse. Yes he wins the tallest midget award.
  7. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 07:44 PM) Chen knows he owns this lineup. just wow. I wonder if they watch tape of teams who beat Chen so they can alter their s***ty approach. Chen watched Joe Mays highlights after he called Nick Blackburn.
  8. The wife turned the yard into flower heaven which in turn has made it insect hell. Welcome our new friend who has moved in, the great black wasp. One of theses f***ers got into the house and wound up stinging me. The other bug that can just go away are assassin bugs.
  9. Well he is generating ground outs.
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 07:41 PM) Dunn is a lawn ornament. That is right at him. Dunn is about to cost this kid a win with his stone hands.
  11. Well not bad so far. I am sure a cutter is in his future.
  12. Stone hands at first can't catch a throw.
  13. Angel Hernandez showing why an annual visit to the optometrist is a good thing.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 07:14 PM) i thought that too He didn't even look towards right.
  15. Okay Hawk, it looked like Morel picked up his third base coach and put the brakes on.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 07:03 PM) Stewart has been pretty good. I wonder if they are calling for the Twins hitting coach's head on twinstalk.com right now. Well he has had the Rochester redwings scoring more runs than the sox this year.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 06:59 PM) Since the AS break, Pavano's ERA before this game was 9.41. Batters had hit .359/.950 off of him. I guess he was due for a good start and you just gotta tip your cap. Well again as Hawk is alluding to, he throws a change up. No one on the planet can hit one of these pitches. In early days pitchers were put to death for witchcraft for throwing these magical pitches.
  18. QUOTE (South Paw @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 06:53 PM) how does stewart look so far? He looks good so far. Ball is definitely moving. The offense however will fail him as we are making Pavano look like Cy Young.
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 02:35 PM) Is it the coach or the hitter? As Ozzie said it's the big leagues not the minors. Here you perform there you learn. Ypu don't teach up her in the bigs. But, in watchign two of the 4 games I don't know if they had an approach other than Konerko in game 4 I am afraid I am going to have to signal the bulls*** alarm on this. I find it fascinating that we have pitching coaches that specialize in tweaking mechanics and teaching new pitches to pitchers yet for some reason hitters come up here as a finished product. I have seen enough hitters over the years to see that they change throughout their career. Their swing plane, the mechanics of the load, hell their feet position. If you cant teach or change why do they do that. They should come up here say f*** it and swing away. This is a game of adjustments, and if you show up to the show and thats it guess what you are done because the scouts and the opposing pitchers will eat you up. Hell look at Konerko now and compare him to his start, is that the same exact hitter. No. Look at Beckham, and compare him when he came up, is that the same hitter. No. Good or bad, these guys make adjustments and change and learn.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 09:28 PM) I can't remember last time he hit a double into the right center gap. He was great at that when he came up, but now he has no chance of hitting it there because he can't get on top of a high fastball. Tonight's game is as pathetic as he's looked in a long time. So sad that he comes up barely being touched and he hits pretty well. Then the longer he is under our system the worse he looks. His swing and his stance are nothing like the kid from Georgia.
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 09:16 PM) I think Beckham gets traded in the off season. Then he will have his best year once he gets away from this teams approach.
  22. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 2, 2011 -> 08:45 PM) The next will be the undervaluing of our players come the offseason when we're looking to trade them. And think, last week people were worried about dealing Quentin and Thornton because of all this boogey-man talk of "white flag" and "attendance dropping." Well, how'd that work out for us? Attendance is s*** and we could have easily played this poorly with a few less players. It's just ridiculous anyone could have thought this team was anything more than what we're seeing. It's as if Williams knew with dealing Jackson, but then out thought himself. Well, hopefully we'll just lose the remainder of this series, then the Twins series, and can begin looking forward to next season. Just end this misery now instead of September. The problem with that is the manager. Do you think for a minute that 8 games back or more will stop Guillen from starting Omar over Morel, rios over DeAza or any of thebother silly decisions that he makes.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 1, 2011 -> 09:54 PM) What a lousy game. Same ol s***. So the Sox again let the trade deadline slip away and here comes the final slide to bury the team. Team is as dead as it has looked in a long time. Yankees should have no problem sweeping this one. Were there more Yankee fans at the game than Sox fans tonight? Nice bunt by Lilly. I don't want to scroll back in the thread to that point in the game. Surely there was an epic meltdown. I merely laughed. Bunting in the American League should be reserved for the late innings. The only thing bunts do in the AL is prevent big innings by your team.
  24. Ozzie's take on the game. " we didn't get the bunt down" Lmao
