Game 2: The DeathMarch Continues
southsideirish71 replied to LittleHurt05's topic in 2011 Season in Review
QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 09:22 PM) I know its a big hole....but maybe the momentum from today can help us get back in the race. So when we are mathmatically eliminated are you going to still have hope that maybe someone got the standings wrong. Or maybe that we can get a handicap for having Dunn and Rios in the lineup for most of the year. -

QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 12:14 PM) Both share the blame, more to Dunn. And blame is maybe not the right word. Responsibility would be better. Who is more responsible for Dunn's performance? I believe Dunn. So as a manager if I have 2 engineers. One of which forgot how to do his job. If I knowingly send the one to customers day in an day out and leave the other one on the engineering bench. Am I doing my job. I mean sure, the engineer is incompetent and probably needs to get better. However do you think my clients will care. Do you think they will call up and say well you know, its not your fault that he blew up our system. I blame the engineer. -

QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 12:02 PM) Sure. But not nearly to the same degree as placing a majority of the blame on him. Are you not indicting any of the players? or is it all Oz's fault? Who is more to blame. The veteran player hitting so bad that he is now in some historic conversations on futility. Or the manager who trotted him out there in the 4 hole and against lefties for the better part of the season. Most managers drop the player in the order to help him find himself and then work on match-ups. Guillen seemed to go against the grain and just throw him into the 4 hole into the wolves so to speak. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 08:06 PM) You can tell the ESPN announcers think the Sox are TERRIBLY coached. Now all we need is Oney to get into a nice twitter war because people are commenting about the coaching.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 07:51 PM) Bobby Valentine is ripping on some of our hitters, especially their hitting mechanics. Great to hear Went he got to the sox he was an impact hitter...... He has had a number of changes to his hitting over the years..... Interesting comments.

2 outs and a man on first and NL 2.0 inserts his strategy.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 06:45 PM) So Balta. Did Flowers really need another day off? Hit a homer (and only run) off one of the best pitchers in the game currently, then ride the bench. Now that AJ is back the kid will be lucky to sniff the occasional lefty. Dust Guillen needs to go. The kids were the key to getting us back into this. Guillen of course can't disrespect a vet by playing the hot hand.

Thanks everyone.

Game Thread: Sox v. Tigers 3:10pm Sept. 3, 2011

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) Just so I'm clear, was Mitch Williams a former pitcher? Obviously a control specialist who knew the in's and outs of pitching. I must of been drinking a lot back then because I remember Mitch being a pitcher with some of thew worst mechanics I have ever seen falling off the mound and relying on just heat. Imagine Matt Thornton's velocity with a worse secondary pitch. -

Mitch Williams is about to cry. Maybe its the 177 degree heat, the ball that hit him in the head, or his perfect mechanics and mastery of the pitching science. -

Wait a second. How the he'll did they score. I didn't see one player attempt or execute a bunt. Maybe we can have Marty drop by to tell us that Kenny "The Genius" Williams forced guillen to bat rios 4th. -

After one of the recent games Ozzie was asked about the kids stepping up. His response, well we need to get the vets going. It's almost september. They are not magically going to figure it out dusty. Can't wait for the reign of ignorance to be over. -
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 01:22 PM) Willits and Inge for next year? Anaheim and Detroit don't seem to want them anymore. Is the plan to get the number one draft pick for 2013. Because I dont really think any of them provide a talent boost.

Bartolo Colon and her 26 year old sister. Methinks that the one on the right gets lucky more. While the one on the left considers getting lucky running into a double quarterpounder with chese smothered in lard and bacon drippings.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) Do you want Becks at second next year if this is the true Becks? We got any other possibilities? Let's see if another coach can help him out. He has regressed with the current deer stand buddy. -

4 runs given up by our staff seems like 10. Most teams with competent offenses can overcome a 2 run deficit. -

Here is ssi's formula for the rest of the year. 1. fire Greg walker and mike gelinger. 2. Release Omar and replace him with Viciedo. 3. Put Humber in the pen, and Zach in the rotation. 4. Rios is your 4th of. He doesn't start at all anymore. 5. Viciedo is the new dh the minute kong gets healthy enough to play first. Dunn is bench filler. 6. Frasor and ohm an don't see anything but low leverage situations. 7. Peavy is on a pitch count watch. The minute 75pitches hits, get the bullpen ready. -

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) Sometimes I wonder if it's not really Walker as much as these guys just have a low baseball IQ. We have had enough roster turnover through the last couple of years and the one constant is the coaches. -

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) It's amazing what happens when some young guys get to actually, you know, come to the major leagues. In the same vein, I am absolutely convinced that if Dayan Viciedo were in this lineup, the effect on the rest of the team would be dramatic. The ball just jumps off his bat, and we sure as hell don't have anyone for whom that could be said, Konerko excepted. And walk can't speak Spanish. -

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 09:45 PM) The argument is they brought him up too soon. They had to do it to replace the other mental midget brought to you by the Sox farm system. We keep exposing our young hitters to the same coach. They get worse over time. Now we have a guy who could crush some of the best fastballs in the SEC and now he can't catch up to fastballs ala another pupil of Walk. Bravo Whitesox, keep ruining young players but at least you are loyal.
