White Sox (Buehrle) v. Yankees (Tub O' Goo)
southsideirish71 replied to Reddy's topic in 2011 Season in Review
You know how messed up our scouting department is, when we cant even scout players who used to play on our team. Anyone shocked that Colon has a two seamer. AJ seems to be. We forget players weaknesses and play to their strengths. Why who knows. -

QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 07:12 PM) As opposed to stinkin' it up up here?!? And replace him with whom. Do you really think that Omar and/or Lillibridge is anything but limited exposure is a good thing. If Omar was good enough to start someone would pay him to start. And outside of some nice fine catches, Lilli is the 25th man on your roster. They need to fix this and fix this now. Sending anyone to our minor leagues is a recipe for failure. -

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 07:07 PM) All I know is Gordo comes up and tears the cover off the ball within a few weeks of being on the team. Then Walker gets into his head, changes his entire swing, and now he's got like 2243 thoughts in his head up there and he can't even kick up his leg until the ball is nearly by him cuz he's thinking so much. I don't think we have someone down there that is responsible for fixing people. How does one explain fundamentally flawed swings like Anderson and his hitch, and guys with high strikeout rates like Danks getting pushed past AA. THe entire point of our minor league system is to look good so we can trick someone into taking our guy for something of value. The idea of development from within is foreign. Why do you think that we rushed the last two decent prospects through the system. -

QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 07:03 PM) You're really not alone on that thought. He really needs to be send down for a while. Do you really think that he is going to develop under what we have down there. What go down to AAA and crush some of the Felix Diaz's of the world in that bandbox. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 07:00 PM) Interesting that Smoak and Brett Wallace have flown past Beckham this year, as they were in the same draft and were guys we were interested in. I would venture to say that you have those two players developed under our system and they are not the same. -

QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 06:55 PM) What is Gordo's problem?? He seems to be starting way late and secondly it seems he's thinking WAY too much up at the plate. At some point the guy just needs to react like he did in 2009 and we got a #2 hitter...ughhh His stance looks different, swing mechanics has changed. I would venture that he has been "fixed". -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 12:10 AM) Would have been nice to win but the better team clearly won. Cory Crawford almost won that game and if it wasn't for a another horses*** give away, he may have. Next year we need to tighten up the D and work on the passing a bit. -

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 08:52 PM) I think now people will see why I was so ballistic last night. Ozzie didnt make Santos the closer, hes just dicking around and hoping for success. Bullpen by magic 8 ball. -

I truly believe that comcast bought their gear from Wayne and Garth. 3rd largest city in the US and we have local cable access for a sports channel. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) Why the f*** are we running into outs in the 9th inning Ozzie inserting "strategy" into the game. He really believes that he isn't in the AL. -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 08:30 PM) Morel and Beckham need to be sent down. Platoon Lilli and Omar and leave Teahen at third. Bring up Dayan and grab anyone off the street that can play the infield for a month in a pinch. I don't know I trust the folks in the minor league to fix anyone. Year after year we see fundamental mechanical issues move to the show. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 02:26 PM) Let's be honest though...if Dunn ever resumes hitting like Adam Dunn...there are possibly only 2 guys on the roster you really look at and think "Unmovable", and that's Rios and Peavy. Rios could easily make himself moveable again, he did last year, and Peavy isn't hurting the team in salary if there's insurance on his contract. If the guys are hitting and playing like they are capable of then we are not talking fire sale. But if large parts of the team are taking a siesta for a few months then it doesnt help their value. -

QUOTE (Chisoxrd5 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 02:20 PM) The x-factor this season is the $130M payroll. If things continue down this path, the Chairman is set to lose big money this year. When this team is running deep in the red this June, it will force changes. Most likely these changes are going to be player personnel, but I would have to think Jerry is going to hold more than just the players responsible for this kind of failure. The only problem RD. Is that the ability to move for fiscal cleansing is minimal. Jackson and Buerhle are in their last years and won't garner a ton of prospects. Danks is worth something, but the minute we start moving our pitching then we are f***ed. Because the farm is empty and we have some older players locked up for a few years of a win now mentality. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) Much like every year, prior to the season I think man this team is good. Then we play and I think man this team is bad. This team got me this year. I was confident coming out of ST that they would be good. Then they get destroyed on the field. Same routine, different year, players shuffle in and out and same result. -

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) Not that I'm saying that it should happen, but if they lose this game and get swept or lose three of four to the Yanks, I got a feeling that either Walker or Ozzie is going to get whacked. Before any of that happens, someone will get sent down. Walker and Ozzie are immortal and cannot be fired. So here is your formula. 1.) A rookie send down, or someone released. 2.) Angry tirade. 3.) Team meeting. 4.) We score 9 runs in a single game. 5.) Everyone declares the season saved because the bats woke up. 6.) Then we get combination press releases/Hawk/Rongey talking about how every member of the sox managerial staff works harder than anyone, and that the issue is with the players. 7.) Then we get the pressure is hard to play with routine. 8.) Inevitably we lose a close one and Hawk screams about some phantom missed umpire call, or crooked strikezone attemping to advert attention. 9.) We start to play the NL and start winning again. Hawk declares all is well. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) His ERA since his rookie year is 3.56, and that's been while pitching in a big pitcher's park. It's not worth 7/$120 to the White Sox, but that's the going rate for this caliber of pitcher. Because we are going to replace him and Jackson, and Buerhle with what? I keep peeking down in that farm of ours and things look a bit bare. -

Well I wonder what the fallout is going to be this year when the marketing campaign "All In" with a s***ty team doesn't put asses in the seats. Hard to justify the salary when the team takes a few months off every year because of asshole puckering syndrome. -

QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 01:40 PM) man what the hell is going on with Pierre He should be on the bench for a few days having a mental rest, or whatever Ozzie calls benching rookies. Of course without he super fast grindy slappy hitter type, Ozzie can't create the NL Marlins offense of slappy grindy win. Right now, Pierre is Pods deux. -
Nothing is wrong. Nothing to see. Facing all-star pitching every night, and of course it's cold. And uh the team is pressing. We have plenty of time, insert excuse here. f*** it.

So if this is "ALL IN", then what is a partial effort.
