Gordon Beckham's hand... (not) actually broken
southsideirish71 replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 7, 2010 -> 09:28 PM) Teahan and Moral must be new players. I've never heard of them.... Really, are we really pulling the internet typo police routine. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) That's game. Only the moronic would put Scott f***ing Linebrink into a game in September with the division title in check. Jesus Christ I will be happy when we are done with the magic 8 ball show and hire a real manager.
-
QUOTE (bobryansson @ Sep 5, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) This isn't Ozzie's fault. Sheesh. You have had years of seeing Ozzie leave starters in one batter too far because he asked the guy after 118 pitches if he felt fresh. Here we are with the game on the line and Scott f***ing Linebrink is in. What in the name of all that is holy is a scrub pitcher who has sucked pretty much for a while in the game at this point of the season.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) Terrible, AJP swinging for the fences there. This team just finds ways to lose now. HERO syndrome there. 2-1 and you have a guy who hasn't thrown a strike for most of the inning. So on a pitch high and away you swing like you are trying to burn one through the wall. f***ing stupid AB right there.

2010 Whitesox baseball, snatching fail from the jaws of victory.
-
QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) Unstoppable force, immovable object. That sort of thing. Of course on 2-1 he made sure he expanded the zone.
-
Now the battle of wills. A guy who has no control, against a guy who has no patience.
-
Well on the good news, Andruw Jones doesn't have to worry about seeing a breaking pitch. Bad news, this is the type of pitcher that requires patience as he can't throw strikes.
-
Chris Perez and the strikezone are not friends right now. Don't swing the bat until he can throw a strike or so near the plate.
-
Hey look magic, the other pitcher took the bunt away from Ozzie.

Our efforts against our division and s***ty teams in general have handicapped us going down the stretch. Good teams don't consistantly f*** up like this against inferior talent. There are only so many crappy teams you can make into world beaters by kicking the ball around and pitching like you suck. For all those who are saying the sox are gassed. Well its their own damn fault. The only reason they needed that run was because of how horrible they started the season. Play 500 ball in April and May and beat some of these crappy teams and we are printing tickets for the playoffs. Its our own damn fault.

QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 08:40 PM) WTF is that about??? A man upset that more athletic men get the spotlight. He looks in the mirror and sees a superstar, so he figures he will use his limited power to let people know that sure Napolean was short, but he was powerful.
-
QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) I think Manny should bat third no matter what (at least to start), but that's just me. I disagree. The perfect place for Manny is the 5 hole. He provides something Konerko desperately needs, protection. In the 5 hole he will drive in a lot of runs.

8/28 Gamethread - Danks v. Yank$;
southsideirish71 replied to clyons's topic in 2010 Season in Review
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) I'm even more pissed off now. Danks/Pena really f***ed us. I won't mention Torres. I envy him. In reality he should be working at Burger King, but he somehow got to the majors. We seem to love that Felix Diaz/Lance Broadway/Kyle Mc mix. The medicore tops out at 89 fastball with a 12/6 curve that doesn't have the tilt and no command. Unless you have pinpoint control, and can throw a few pitches to exact spots you are going to have problems throwing cheese up there. Thank god we have been getting a bit balsy with our 1st rounders lately. In a dream world we spend more on our draft and go for talent over safe not so good. We also seem to love the Mike Jackson relief pitcher mold. We have had 3 pitchers on the team with the same exact stuff that he had. Only one year did we get anything out of that type of pitcher. -
Fuentes is not that good. Kind of a crappy pickup by the Twins. Can't wait to see him come in and get rocked.

Happy Birthday Slav.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 09:57 PM) I dunno. Obviously second guessing the bunt tonight is a reasonable criticism since we lost. I just think in Oz's mind it was a no brainer. Man on, tie game, bunt him over, get the hit, we go home happy unless we can't close it out. Pierre might have stole second on oldtimer Kendall. Then we bunt him to third. Oz could have taken that gamble on the steal. It's fair criticism but it's also fair to say the bunt is a decent percentage play with nobody out. He isn't even going by his own rules of Ozzieball. For all those who think this is the same stuff we saw in the first half of 05. The formula for that was Podsednik gets on, steals second, then Iguchi hits him in or moves him to third with a hit to the right side. 1-0 sox. Now its Pierre gets on, we waste an out and bunt him over. Then they walk the next guy to set up the DP. Inning over.

Oh look Kenny has a fan that has a twitter account. OneyRoberto

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 09:17 PM) I assume the first post was in green. The big league hitters don't get any blame for inability to get a clutch hit after bunting the guy over? Why is bunting with Pierre on first indefensible? I think most every manager not named Earl Weaver in the late innings bunt there. Yost let Blanco steal. He must not of read the Ozzie Guillen manual that fast guys need to be bunted over.
-
QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) except thats bulls*** because no umpire should be holding some grudge against a team/player/manager and letting that alter their calls in those games.. yes, I realize it happens but it shouldn't regardless of what ozzie said or did Go to your local police dept, give them your name, and call them all cocksuckers. Then drive the speed limit in your town. I bet money you get pulled over. Why, because life is unfair and people hold grudges.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Still cannot get over how bad the 2-0 ball call to Blanco was. Well maybe our manager can keep his yap shut a bit when the umps over the years have f***ed up. Sure some of them suck, but having open battles of public opinion are not going to work in the long run. This is like going skydiving, and the guy packing your chute is a guy you called a cocksucker 24 hours ago. Then you are shocked when you pull the cord, and see pots and pans flying out. Joe West is what he is, and getting into battles with him is not the answer. He did exactly what we thought he would.
-
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) Man for as good as the pen had been they have been equally terrible of late... Well today its kind of hard to fault the pen. The offense had plenty of opportunities to come through and didnt. You are on the road in a tie game, there is no room for error.
-
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) Yes I do. All the bulls*** this team just went through these past few days, coupled with the big win the last game in Minnesota will cause this team to pull together and put on an unbelievable stretch run. And I'm not being facetious. Why is there some bonus round of interleague that I missed on the schedule.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) Jason Kendall always kills us. Advanced scouting? The guy has a .620 OPS for f***ing sakes. Sounds just like the type of guy that Ozzie would want on this team. Slappy, no hitty, not so good. A role player on a real team and a starter on a garbage team. He has future whitesox written all over him.

Everyone seemed to be worried about how we do against the Twins, when its losing series to the likes of the Tigers, Orioles, and Royals that will be our undoing. The losing record against the AL says we are still a bad team, that had some smoke and mirrors added one when we played the AAA league.
