  1. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 08:58 PM) no. I look forward to their early playoff exit. I hate the yearly sour grapes touting well at least they will lose the first round. Guess what, you know what happens when you get into the playoffs you have a chance to win the world series. You know what 2nd place gets a chance to, clear out their lockers and work on their short game.
  2. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 08:55 PM) I don't know why. Preseason predictions had this team finishing 3rd or 4th. Well pre-season predictions mean s*** when you are in first place after the ASB. Its one thing to play good fundamental hard nosed solid baseball and lose. Its another thing to get taken to the woodshed by the crap in the AL and then bend over for our annual Twins slam.
  3. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) Because people think this is the worst season ever and it's all Ozzie and Kotsay's fault. Well Ozzie was the one who wanted to play NL style in his personal 2003 wayback machine. Too bad we play in the AL and have a position called Designated Hitter that he decided to put a few bench players in. But hey, our players are well rested for October tee time.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 08:47 PM) I would disagree. Why the f*** would we fire Ozzie over this? I forgot, he was here in 2005. Maybe we can get Willie Harris, Timo Perez, the legend of Aaron Rowand and get the band back together. Take a look at his second half record since he has been here. If his name was Manuel, he would of been gone already. But because he was on the 05 team you have shrine built to him. This reminds me of Bears fans not letting go of the 85 team. Eventually you can't ride on that crap forever. Build him a statue, and move on.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 08:46 PM) I know I'm the most Anti-Ozzie guy on here, but is there still any real doubt that there needs to be a shake up with the KW/Ozzie/Walker/Cooper foursome? I can't imagine even the most optimstic/Ozzie supporters would disagree. I like cooper but I am ready to clean the entire house out. The only one I want to definately keep is Hahn. That entire group that was in the room with Kenny during the Hudson trade on the Club can go as well.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) The Sox must disagree since they dealt some pretty f***ing good starting pitchers the last few years. So what starters do you want to deal? Who replaces them? I know ... Clayton Richard, Hudson, Gio ... oh wait. they aren't with the team anymore. You guys want to blow up the rotation as well? That makes no sense unless the "rebuilding" means being the Royals the next 10 years. Well Danks hasn't signed an extension and is going to be costly. Buerhle is basically untradeable at this point. Edwin is a boras client, so enjoy next year and thats it. Our rotation is going to turn itself over in the next few years one way or another. Thankfully Kenny decided to go for it and dump one of our best pitching prospects.
  7. Same formula we have every year in the 2nd half. Our offense basically shrivels up. Game is kept close for a bit, we get some situation where the bases are loaded and we choke. The following inning the Twinks break it open. Same f***ing formula, year after year. We keep changing players, same thing. So maybe its time to clean house and start over.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 07:27 PM) I've been as hard on Kenny as anyone. But I'll never criticize him for the Peavy deal. So forget about Clayton Richard. Gio? I like him. But he net us Gavin Floyd. Daniel Hudson? Inexcusable. And yes, I want Ozzie gone last week. People forget the most inexcusable thing, Jackson is a boras client. There is ZERO chance he signs here. IF he does well, Boras will whore him out on the market. If he sucks, then its a one year deal, again if he sucks then really this was a disaster. And he will not provide a pick, so thats out. And Kenny doesn't trade away, he adds because Double Down is all in.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 15, 2010 -> 07:46 PM) It's comical how Hudson is now one of the most untouchable young pitchers in baseball. Even Brewers fans are frustrated they didn't trade for him. Watching the MLB show episode where Kenny's advisors give him their view on the "pitcher with the 5 ERA in the NL" versus the kid was disgusting. Pretty much it sounded like any vet pitcher is worth it in a pennant race over Hudson. Our short sited "all in" mentality is going to doom us to overspending for aging talent and pray for fixer uppers.
  10. I watched the Club after the game tonight. They had Kenny and his band of wise men weighing in on a possible trade for Hudson and more for Jackson. Listening to some of input he was getting. Its time to clean house on a large scale. Put Hahn in charge, and then wipe it out.
  11. QUOTE (kwill @ Sep 14, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) I was thinking that even though we probably lost the division and will not make the playoffs, how much I like this roster. So, I know we are going to make changes because of payroll issues, but if you could would you like the White Sox to comeback with the same exact roster. Well I think we need to start with a new GM and new manager. We have had a rotten rotten 2nd half record under Ozzie's watch. If not for 05, he is already gone. The chips all in every single year needs to stop as well. You cannot win the world series every year. Sometimes you need a strategy. I think the 5 year board that Kenny references is a large white board with random Royals players from this decade and former Cleveland Indian players from the 90s. Then we need to undo the mess that is our minor leagues and get some fiscal flexibility. Kind of concerned that we are at max budget before the season ends for next year because we decided to push all chips in again.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 14, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) I think White Sox fans know better. With the exception of one "lucky" post-season game (because of the coin flip, a rule later changed), that's the ONLY possible reason to have hope...but yet here we are with another late-season, second half home game against Minnesota "choking" it away with the bases loaded and the relievers blowing up in innings 7-9. Its the same thing over and over and over. Their game plan is simple. Throw lots of breaking pitches and pitch backwards. We get very aggressive and get ourselves out. When we get men on, throw breaking pitches and expand the zone. Our game plan is the opposite. Throw lots of fastballs, because for some reason in all the years we have played them, we haven't figured out that they hit fastballs. They catch the ball and play good defense. We pucker up and kick the ball. They hit the cut off man, We over throw the ball and allow the trailers to get into scoring position. They shorten up their stroke and make contact with men on. We swing from our heels and have no game plan. 3-1 and 0-2 are the same count as far as we are concerned. They pound the zone with strikes, we like to get behind hitters. Because you know, no one is expecting a 2-0 fastball. The twins run the bases aggressively. We run fast, sure into outs more than other teams, but we run fast.
  13. Another second half s*** the pants effort. We had the usual 2nd half sox versus the twins, we kicked the ball a bit, centered a few pitches up to the twinks, and then of course get men into scoring position and then strike out or pop up. The players change, the same f***ing thing happens. At least in the 90s the Indians just beat you to death and you were numb before it was over. This death by 1000 paper cuts crap is just murder. I have our slogan for next years marketing campaign. Its September baseball, a fresh yellow streak is running down our leg. Some might call it piss, we call it a rally river. For Tickets call.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 14, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) More than a legitimate possibility. The Twins have completely mind-f***ed this franchise. And it starts with Ozzie and obsession with licking their assholes every chance he gets. This entire thing is a mess. I don't see a light at the end of this tunnel until they just clean house. Kenny and Ozzie need to go. Clean out the minor leagues, and just start over. There is no plan. From the top to the bottom. We fling crap at the wall and pray something sticks. For years we have used the buy low methodlogy to picking up outside help. Not being able to understand that your mancrush from 5 years ago, is not the same player sans injuries and age. The minor leagues are just abysmal. We have had 2 times over the last few years to reload and haven't because Kenny always thinks he is one player away. We still go searching for bargains in the draft instead of looking for talent. The only difference is that we are now at least paying attention to the first round. Afte that its almost like we think there is nothing there after the first round. Then of course we don't instruct. Wear the mitt on your head and we will promote you. Can't hit a curveball, you get promoted. Dont know which way to run, we promote you.
  15. QUOTE (chiguy79 @ Sep 14, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) PK saving runs again...we would be the Mariners without him... You could say the same about interleague.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 12, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) Ah, I forgot how awful Jay Cutler is. G-reg and Forte suck as well. He had one bad pick. Devin A dropped a ball in the end zone and you have had people putting the ball on the ground all over. That pick doesn't result in a score unless Peppers gets called for a stupid blow to the head penalty. That drive was stopped and it was out of field goal range. For the most part Cutler has had good drives.
  17. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 10, 2010 -> 08:49 PM) If Ozzie was GM, a lot of this dead weight would be off the team I would rather a random homeless man to make decisions over personnel than Ozzie. Ozzie wanted Jerry Owens over Quentin. Injury took that away. Wise was a leadoff hitter and starter. Kotsay is our DH. If Ozzie was our GM we would be the worst team in the league. The fact that he thinks that his plan is sound and you can in fact play national league baseball in the american league is proof alone.
  18. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 09:39 PM) If the Sox can sweep the Twins they are far from done. Its a big if, but if they deserve to be in the playoffs its something they have to do. The Twins are 10-5 against the sox head to head this season.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 09:32 PM) So there's been a 9 game swing from where we would have been if we won that Sunday game vs the Twins after the ASB to now. Plain and simple, Twins deserve the AL Central with their amazing play since the ASB. The better team will have won. The annual white sox piddle down their leg post ASB baseball that we play around here. Time for some changes.
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) I'm a couple losses away from giving up on the season. It just wasn't meant to be. And it's sad. If we could've played at least .500 ball in April/May we'd probably be in the lead right now. Ifs, and would haves.... If we played 500 ball in April/May If we could beat teams in our division. If we didnt take a few series off against bad teams in August. The formula for winning the central is simple. Beat up on bad teams, play 500 ball against good teams, and beat your division. That is the formula for winning it. The only reason we are here is becaused we beat up on the NL and had a historic run due to that. Take a look at our record against the AL, and then look at our divisional record. We are the reason that we are in this peril at this point of the season. We have had a 7 to 8 game swing in the standings over the last month with the Twins. We had it, and we pissed it away. Hopefully someone can explain this offseason what the f*** the plan is. Because I don't see any direction from anyone.
  21. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 08:28 PM) If you were the manager, would you have sent a message and put Morel in, telling Teahen to sit his horrible defensive ass down? After that second error (which led to 4 runs), I wouldn't have hesitated. Ozzie doesn't work that way. He benches players out in the court of public opinion, then he goes back on his benching and plays them anyway. He is like a small dog. Lots of bark, no bite.
  22. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 08:08 PM) come back and split tomorrow -- still a chance for a great 8-2 road trip. 8-2 is a good road trip. The fact that we started 7-0 and are looking to salvage a split with Detroit because we forgot how to play baseball however gives me a bad taste.
  23. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) only hits tonight by konerko and omar. guess it doesn't really matter what teahen did. Well lets look at the positive. Ozzie's rotating DH allows for our players to be fresh for their tee times in October.
  24. AJ was on the radio today talking about how if they win 90 and lose the division its not so bad. They will be upset that they lost and all, but 90 wins. yeah. So basically we fattened up on a good stretch against the NL, played like crap for months at a time this year. Our first two months of the season, and our record against bad teams and our division are the tombstones on our playoff chances this year. We are running out of time and our team is taking it in the pooper.
  25. QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Sep 8, 2010 -> 07:33 PM) Maybe something can be salvaged tonight...like out playoff hopes? But no more starting Korsay and Teahen. Kenny needs to do a better job of building a roster. We basically played a man down on offense all year long because he listened to the whims of a man who is pretending we are in the NL. Ozzie proofing the lineup is the key for any executive who is above him. Role players especially lefty marginal players become keys in our lineup. Oddly imagine if we took the money we spent on Manny, added Kotsay and Teahan. We might of had a real DH.
