QUOTE(knightni @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) This is kinda scary I can think of one situation where her face was contorted in a different manner.

When Kevin Walker was actually pitching for us.

QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 07:30 PM) The question the Sox face is much more dynamic than Rowand vs. Anderson. There's Chris Young coming up faster than most expected. Truth be told, I think he's the best of the bunch. He's a .290/.390/.520 guy, I think. And where does Sweeney play when his power catches up with his swing. BTF published 2006 ZiPS projections including the four players you just mentioned in this paragraph. It's worth a look. 2006 White Sox ZiPS Projections

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) However, if people really want to use stats as an indicator, need I do a side-by-side comparison of Rowand and Anderson's careers up to the point Anderson is at today? Rowand repeated AA. Anderson spent half a season there. Rowand had 1715 minor league At-bats. Anderson has only had 936... http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/R/aaron-rowand.shtml http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/A/b...nderson-3.shtml I've done this before, I'll just leave it at this. These links should be just about all I have to show in terms of statistics. Podsednik had 2772 minor league at-bats, and you now consider him one of the best leadoff hitters in the majors. He repeated A four times, and AA three times. He also had a huge sophomore slump in his second full season of big league play, just like Rowand. And don't tell me how Rowand had three semi-seasons to get adjusted to the bigs before his first full year, because you yourself said making a rookie a part-time player is a terrible way to initialize them. So there is a counter-point to your argument. I don't care if Rowand or Anderson starts in center next year, but one of them needs to be moved this offseason. Depends on what the trade market wants.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) And strikeout 175 times. And walk over 100 times. And hitting 50+ home runs is never "easy".

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 04:05 PM) Doesn't Cincinnati love over-paid, under-achieving pitchers? El Duque for Adam Dunn. If only it were this easy...
-
Mench or Kearns would not really be an upgrade from Everett as a DH. Dunn is a completely different story. If he were on the team he instantly becomes our most valuable offensive assest (unless we have a fully healthy Big Frank). He would almost certainly cost us a starting pitcher, though.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) So, you expect a .100 point dropoff in average between 2005 AAA and 2006 major leagues? Zoom never said this.
-
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) And how do you figure that he's taken walks wherever he's been? The most he's taken in any one year was 48. In 248 career minor league games, he has 101 walks. Even if he kept that rate constant in the majors, which is highly unlikely, that comes out to about 66 walks in a 162 game season. He will not touch that rate. As it will be his first full year in the big leagues, plus he will be batting 7th or 8th, I'd be surprised if he topped 40 BB's.

QUOTE(JHBowden @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) Rex -- Supply and demand isn't a difficult concept to understand. I suppose that you would have me believe that in the world as the price of an arbitrary good increases, more people buy it, or that increases in supply raise prices. Analytically, this isn't the case, and it isn't what we find in markets, including the labor market, either. The idea is rock solid. If you're still not convinced, I recommend looking at other industrialized countries of the world. In Germany, for instance, the unemployment rate is 13%, while in Japan and the United States the unemployment rate remains under 5% even in sluggish economic conditions. There are reasons for this, and wage floors are one of them. Germany, for instance, has very high rates of unionization, and the bottom union wage, much higher than the minimum wage in the United States, is the de facto minimum wage. I'm not denying that it is possible for a growing economy to absorb losses in employment caused by wage floors. I'm merely pointing out that there will be some unemployment one has to take into account. There is no free lunch. I don't think Germany's unemployment rate is that high. It's closer to 11%. In addition, it's not like this is very typical for Germany. Their current unemployment rates are the highest they've experienced in about 70 years.

QUOTE(SoxRock05 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) 3E8....are you going to do a highlight reel for each month all the way through October? That's the plan. Whether I follow through or not, that remains to be seen.
-
I don't know if they still do this, but Wal-Mart used to make their execs share rooms on business trips to lower expenditures. How funny is that?
-
I don't have to write down what I was doing for every moment in the playoffs because I remember them all: I was watching the game.

Thanks for the updates BHAM.

Okay I finally finished my May highlight video. Be patient at the beginning, it starts slow but picks up shortly after. At several points I matched lyrics of the song to what was happening in the highlight, see if you can find them all... Sox May 2005 Vid. Enjoy! EDIT: Downloadable April link, if anyone wants. QUOTE(PaHs @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) Do you think they will re-sign him? Or would I be better off getting just a plain Sox jersey with no name? Your best bet is a Marte jersey. I have a feeling he's gonna be here awhile.

QUOTE(orangekrush88 @ Oct 30, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) Ya only getting 4 KBS on my end also, here is a yousendit link instead, won't be up too long but should be a faster speed. http://s61.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0W4VDNW...BC0ESR7ZHDZJVD0 Much better. 20 second download time. Very nice job by the way, I liked how the clips were placed in a random order.
