  1. Konerko's slam is the biggest HR in Sox history.
  2. Don't fall for their bulls***, every single Cub fan in their dark, bitter hearts is rooting against us. I hear the roars go up in the bars every time the Astros do something good and it ain't from Astros fans.
  3. QUOTE(SAVVY18 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) On the pe-game show on Fox, Roeper was on and called the flip floppers "TranSOXuals". Did you see when Roeper was sitting with Black Jack and the guy from Fox asked him: "so Richard, you being a die hard Sox fan and all, surely you must have some fond memories of seeing Jack here pitch". Roeper looked kinda stumped and on the spot and pulled some general BS otta his butt like: "oh yeah, I remember Jack going out there and always giving his all for like 7, 8 or 9 innings at a time". McDowell gave Roeper that big crazy eyed look like: "That's all you got"?! I love live tv.
  4. Kinda related, I saw a 'Biddle' and 'Simas' jerseys at the bar last night. Killed me.
  5. The Lidge sign is the winner, but also the most risky. If he comes in and mows us down in the 9th for an Astros win, you're gonna need help pulling that sign otta your colon.
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) At about 5:30 they had a ton of scalpers inside Jimbos. Brokers must of ate a lot of upper deck seats, there were a lot of empties mixed in upstairs. Yeah, a couple of my co-workers said the same thing, lots of single UD seats that were empty the whole night.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) I wonder if they clued Steve Perry into the fact that he was at Game One of the World Series because those other 3 guys in the picture think he sucks?
  8. I hope we win in it 7, so that more die hard fans have a WS experience. I'm sure some die hard fans who didn't get tix to games 1 or 2, have them for games 6 and 7. It wasn't meant for me, but someone else might as well have a blast.
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) You have to respect him a little but for that stand. At least he wasn't wearing an Astros cap A little, but a real stand would have been not to attend at all. Especially since he doesn't do photo ops or appearances for political reasons.
  10. That shot of Lidge slumped over in defeat on the mound as the Sox jump around at home plate in the background captured it so well. Great shot.
  11. Did anyone see Blago on one of the pre game shows from the Cell? I can't remember which station it was on, but they were trying to get him to put on a Sox cap. He said something like: "No, I'm a Cub fan and to do something like that would be one of those crummy things that politicians do all the time". C'mon dude, you're already AT the game.
  12. Right on, it's the 'look at me' crowd. :puke
  13. On the Taveras triple, didn't the ball hit the ball person's chair and take a wierd ricochet?? Is that the play we're talking about? If so, you can't really blame Dye for that. Not to mention Taveras can fly.
  14. QUOTE(drowninginflame @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 07:30 AM) he was crying after he blew it I didn't see that, that's too bad. It wasn't a bad outing at all, they hit a couple of good pitches, give them credit. But again, it's a hell of a lot easier to hit a 97 mph fastball when that's all you're looking for. Vizcaino put the bat on the ball, period.
  15. We tagged Lidge, let's handle Oswalt. I want to see Gooch have a big game with the bat. We'll need everything we can get on Tuesday.
  16. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 02:56 AM) I thought McCarver said "how do these things happen?", and it wasn't a rip against the Sox. It was more in a "wow, october is unreal, eh?" kind of way. Like how does Pods of all guys end it off Lidge? I doubt he would ever say "why does this happen" and cry for the astros. He was just living up the moment. He may be terrible sometimes, but i liked what he had to say here. "How does this happen?" I have no idea Tim, but it's just awesome. Like they say, you can't script October. I thought the same thing and I gave him the benfit of the doubt the first time I heard it. When I listened to it the second time, his tone seemed biased and almost angry. Whatever, it's just interesting to see people's true colors come out. Sox win!!
  17. "Unbelievable, why do these things happen?" Where's Deion when you need him to chase him around with a bucket of ice water?
  18. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 24, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) I'm not saying he should be the closer, actually I think he never should have lost the job, but we better see Dustin Hermanson in a damn game soon. I would have been ok with seeing Hermy tonight and I'm not just saying that in hindsight.
  19. I remember earlier in the year, he bounced every curve ball for like 2 games straight, so maybe he's afraid of a costly wild pitch. As long as he mixes in the hook and keeps it high and keeps the fastball high as well, he should be fine. I'm drunk and repeating myself and I'm drunk..
  20. Funny. I hat to say this, but I have hard time hating the Astros. They play with a lot of fight, very similar to the Sox.
  21. Even if doesn't feel like his hook is on, he still has to throw it. At least throw it out of the zone, so it doesn't get killed, but throw it. You never know, they might chase it, every strike counts.
  22. Sorry, but what I mostly see from Mark lately is him giving up a lead over and over again. We caught two huge breaks tonight, the Biggio error and the Dye HBP. If those go the right way, we'd be talking about how bad Mark looked. All the love goes to our offense tonight.
  23. I love Bobby, but he needs to find and go with something offspeed. I don't care how good your fastball is, if that's all you're throwing, it will eventually get hit. Especially if the same hitters see it on back to back nights. Has he given upon his curve?
  24. Thx for the tip, I'll need a bar for the 3 road games. I haven't been impressed by the ones near the Cell.
  25. QUOTE(moneyman6544 @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) In the ESPN postgame show, I shouldn;t have watched anyway, They had noted on how Oswalt has the best "stuff" for the Astros. Not argueing there. But Peter Gammonds then had said on how the Astros have the best home record in the bigs...... Failed to mention that the Pale Hose have the best road record and how that might possibly mean something agaisnt the best home record. Gammonds still showing no love. Just my thoughts though. and correct me if I'm wrong, please. I understand they have to generate interest in the series, especially now that we're up 2-0, but some of their s*** is ridiculous.
