One thing this disaster has done is exposed all the ramifications that poverty can have in some inner citites. From the sounds of things, the N.O.P.D was a joke, a disaster plan was not in place, or not funded properly, or funds were cut off etc, etc. Unfortunately for them, N.O. has been looked at as some sort of exception. I bet it is not. To put it in perspective for you, think of N.O as the west side or southeast side of Chicago. Kind of hard to imagine, but if a similar disaster hit that part of Chicago, do you really think the effort and response would have been much better? Ever been in a poor part of town during a snow blizzard? Those areas don't even see a plow truck until the snow has damn near melted. Now imagine a major catastrophe. Drive through other areas and the trucks are out before the snow has even hit the ground. Might seem like an apples and oranges analogy, but you get the point.

I asked this before when this topic came up and I never found the t shirt. Maybe, you guys can help me this time around. Last year, I saw a guy at the cell wearing a black and silver T-shirt that had a drawing of a CTA train approaching down the platform. The platform read Sox-35th on it. It was awesome, I have never seen it again. By the way, his GF had the same shirt on, but her's read Addison on it and was in Scrubbie blue.

I had allergies worse than anyone I know, up until last year. My eyes were dry and would itch and swell, the roof of my mouth near the back would itch, my ears would be plugged up, I'd break out in hives sometimes. I tried like 3 different meds, they all made me weak and sleepy, so I'd stop them. Suddenly, I just don't seem to get them any more. Whenever I do, it's very mild.

It's too early to decide this now. The playoffs are all about who's hot during that time. A loooooooot can still happen. Chances are, both Dookie and B Mac end up in the pen. If it comes down to one or the other, there is no way I take a chance on the kid crapping the mound under pressure.

I hope that's true and I hope the number of dead is not anywhere near 10,000 like the mayor thinks. Although I wouldn't be surprised.

Let's hope his recently new found power doesn't result in him swinging for the fences on every pitch, no matter where it is, or what the situation is ......again. I'm gonna take a wait and see attitude with Juanito.

Sorry if this is another post. This name might not mean much to most of you, but Chilton was a member of Big Star, one of my favorite bands. Apparently, he was staying in a hotel in the French quarter and no one has heard from him since last Monday. Big Star never really made it big in terms of record sales, but they are loved by critics and had a huge influence on almost every band worth listening to. I think someone else mentioned them here before.

It makes you realize just how poor the conditions must be that they leave behind in their countries. Some Americans make it sound like these people could live good lives in their own countries and that they instead maliciously choose to come to the US. Ask yourself this, if your family was slowly starving to death in Illinois and someone told you that if you crossed over into Indiana you could survive, would there really be a decision to be made?
