  1. Truer words have never been spoken. Never gets tired, the audio makes it even more funny. It's time someone prints up some: 'Elia for Mayor' T-Shirts. You'd be surprised how many Cub 'fans' have never heard the rant. What is Elia doing nowadays? We should invite him to the Cell for 'Lee Elia Day'.
  2. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) The rain is really needed right now though. But keep in mind the last dozen times or so we were told we were getting rain, not a drop fell (except about 2 weeks ago when there was a microburst over 294 and that was over with after about 5-10 minutes). For very selfish reasons, I don't need rain on Saturday.
  3. Scattered, heavy thunderstorms for Saturday PM, f***!
  4. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) Muranic (sp?) Acid will take it off.. but I'd call the police if I were you. A nice $75 ticket for defacing public property might make the asshole think twice about doing that s*** next time. Exactly, that is just going too far!! I can handle the smack talk, but once someone touches me or my s***, IT'S ON. Call the cops.
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 02:24 PM) Near a beer stand. Normally I avoid the taste, but I might have to go check them out.
  6. QUOTE(Spiff @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) The womens world record is 22.63m (24 yards). So I'd say at max it went 20 yards. The basic idea is that you have to pay attention at all times at a track meet, and 77 year old men are not always the most aware, nor are they the quickest to react. I'm not trying to be insensitive, but why the hell was he on the track then?
  7. We should/must win 2 if not all 3....and I'm not saying that because we're playing the Cubs. I'm just saying if we pitch smart or around Lee and take a lot of pitches early on from Prior (he's gotta be on a pitch count) there is no reason to believe we can't win all 3 games. One thing to keep in mind is that this year the shoe is on the other foot. By that I mean the Cubs are the team with nothing to lose and can come in, play loose and let it all hang out. The Sox on the other hand, who sometimes cry about attention, have to put up or shut up.
  8. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Just a reminder in case anyone is going: I wonder where exactly they'll be.
  9. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 12:06 AM) Freddy better have more control than his last outing. He also better not count on the wind that saved a few homeruns at Wrigley. I like our pitching matchups in the first two games and game three is probably a tossup. What ARE the pitching matchups for all 3 games????
  10. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) Did anyone see the CSN special on Nancy. They were interviewing a bunch of fans and I happened to be waiting there for autographs. I'm the kid in the Sox BP hat who has the black Buehrle Shirt on! I saw that piece, but I don't remember seeing you, then again I wasn't really looking. I'll look for it again.
  11. '......putting DJ in his place' is about as dead on as can be. No matter what DJ asks, Hawk always says he can't relate to it, or says the opposite is true. DJ: "Ya ever have one of those games where everything just seemed to go poorly for you on the field. I mean both on offense and defense, just completely not there?" Hawk: "Uh no, I can't say I ever had a game like that. I always had at least one positive thing happen in every game".
  12. Why the panic with getting a starter?
  13. Tell me this, What would our final season record have to be for us to LOSE the division? Based on that final record, what would our record have to be in the remaining games? Make sense^? God I can't write for s***.
  14. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) What a way to die. The guy makes it to 77, only to go out like THAT. f***.
  15. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 06:08 PM) I'm thinking about the max they travel is 70 feet, but you have all kinds of stuff going on at track meets right next to each other. Someone else on the board has an avatar of a guy doing the long jump with a stray female track person that walks in the way and gets smashed. I'm suprised more stuff like this doesn't happen, track meets are pretty nuts and chaotic, atleast they can be. I saw that, wait til someone catches a javelin in their chest.
  16. http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/3712790 How far do those things travel? I seem to think only like 30-40 yards.
  17. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) If the Twins trade for Randa, they would just move Cruddyer to 2nd base. Randa is 35, do the Twins think he's a long term answer for them?? They are 10 games back, do they see him as a tool necessary to make a push for this year?
  18. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 05:08 PM) I read that the Twins are going after Randa and I expect them to get him. He'll fit right in over there and give them a boost. Cudyer blows. I think it could have the same impact as the Stewart trade that they made a few years back. Still, I don't think it makes them better than the Sox. And as someone who has forever been on Crede's ass, I have to say it's nice to see him coming around before the break. That's a good sign. He could have a big second half. I can't believe I'm saying it, but I think the Sox should stick with him. I read the same thing and also that the Reds want arms..young starters, ready to plug in, no prsopects. I'd be shocked if the Sox got Randa.
  19. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) I don't exactly disagree with you about the bullpen shakiness, but at this point, I'm probably more confident in Marte regaining form than El Duque staying healthy for the duration of the year. I see your point, but I think this 'injury' to Duque is fatigue more than anything. He'll be rested often, but he'll be fine.
  20. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) I don't know if that's true at all. Our primary pitching needs will depend on the performances of Marte and El Duque. If Marte regains form, the pen is in much better shape with 4 solid relievers. Even if they regain form, I still consider Marte, Shingo and even Cotts "iffy". Sure I think they can get hot for a couple of weeks here and there, but then will slump. What if that slump occurs in October? We're talking about post season ball, I'd like something more solid.
  21. QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) Get a top line starter and El Duque goes to the pen. Sounds like killing two birds with one stone to me. Name that starter.
  22. We need an arm in the pen, that's priority #1. Unless there is a super-duper star ace starter available....and I don't see that out there.
  23. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) yeah my mindset has also changed towards that, i at least want garland to make it because im sure he wants to It would be nice for Jon.....but let's get him in and get him outta there quickly, lol.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) Everett is listed at 6'0" 215 LBs Konerko is listed at 6'2" 215 LBs Konerko's got 2 inches on him with equal weights. Right, so Everett is bigger, same weight on a shorter guy=bigger, no?
  25. It's funny how being in 1st place has changed my attitude about the All Star game. In the past, I would have wanted as many Sox player to get voted in and get some game time. This year, I think I'd rather have them stay home, not risk injury and rest. We have bigger fish to fry.
