QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) A high school friend has been living in Moscow for a couple of years. Got married over there (mail order bride in reverse I guess), and has become fairly assimilated. He was a pretty formidable drinker before, but now that he's been drinking vodka like water with the Moscovites he's got to be Olympic class. He moves back to the states in August. I won't be challenging him to a drinking contest. I bet. We went to a holiday party at a Russian restaurant a few years ago and they had pitchers of water set up on the tables. So, I fill up my glass, only to find out it was vodka!! Then of course, not wanting to look like a lightweight forced myself to down this huge glass over the course of the evening. I was lit up.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) No.. and I didn't say I was sure it did. Season ticket holders were given THREE months notice of when they had to get their orders in... 2 letters and several emails. I'd be really, really dissapointed if it's flat out scalping. At those prices, you're almost better off going to a broker. I checked, it's pretty comparable pricing.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) Who in the world would take a guy making $60 million over 4 years and who hasn't been healthy for a full season's worth of games since 2003? I mean, I know the Yankees need another outfielder or two, but Jesus, that was a terrible contract when the Tigers signed him to it, and it's a terrible contract today. No one else was considering offering him more than 2 years, and Boras got 5 out of the Tigers. Exactly. Didn't we say the same thing before the Tigers signed him? I've learned to never be surprised by how much or how long a guy is signed for.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) I'm sure it'll get called out and I would bet high that the additional funds are going to the charities. One thing they can not afford is to be linked to scalping. I know that a lot of ST holders are pissed about this though.. a lot who were told they had passed the deadline to order additional tickets (which they did) feel that they should be offered these first before the public. I bet the season ticket holders wanted to pay just face value for any left overs and the Sox weren't feeling it. Are you sure the money goes to charity?

Did you see how much the 'bids' are up to? $140.00 for a $30.00 seat, GMAFB!

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) It's Russian, so it's a bit strong. Nothing is stronger than K-19 Russian Submarine vodka, though. If you think Skol is rough, find a bottle of this and you'll gag for minutes. But I've been told that I was seen drinking from a bottle of Stoli at a house party that I co-threw...half the bottle...while blacked out. It wasn't surprising when I woke up in some girl's room at 530 that morning. It's not really that it's strong, it's just nasty as all hell. Well, I hope you were still able to 'handle business' My wife used to work with a lot of Polish people. One of them gave me a bottle of moonshine vodka to try as a X-Mas present. No lie, my throat was not the same for like 2 days after just ONE shot. My voice was hoarse, I couldn't taste my food. It was rocket fuel.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) I prefer Svedka over anything else really. Cheap and smooth, and I haven't blacked out while drinking it (how I love you, Stolichnaya and K-19 Russian Submarine vodka). Stoli is poison. :puke

QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 05:53 PM) I quit drinking Absolut when I turned 21. Effen and Gery Goose are much better.

Sorry if there is another thread on this. Basically, these tickets are being sold to the highest bidder, or scalped, right? http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...ions/061505.jsp

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) Actually something off of the top of my head that could be interesting... why not get something like a store card system like the grocery stores use for something exactly like this. Everytime you buy tickets day of game you get your card scanned, and after say 7 games, you get vouchers for free seats in whatever section you buy tickets in. Rules would be something like whatever increment you sign up to buy tickets in (2,4 etc) is how many freebies you get, and you get into what ever section of seating you pick to buy all of the time. I've thought of the same thing. OR All tickets bought on a game day (not half price nights) at the Cell are marked as such, say printed on a different color. Collect say 7 tickets and you get half off of the next ticket (not half price night) you buy. There's a glitch and ways to scam every system, but they're worth a shot. I know people who walk up only and still get to like 30 games a year. They don't really get any kind of discount (unless they go to half price nights) or thank you. -
How do I cut out a segment of a thread an then forward it on as an e-mail? NOT the whole thread, just one post for example, thx.

Constitutional Amendment on Flag Burning

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) And yet all of those things (shirts, plates, ties, etc.) still aren't a flag. If the flag is a symbol of freedom, wouldn't burning the flag be a symbol of destroying that very freedom? ...or it would be a sign of living in a country where you have ultimate freedom? -
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) I think Katie Holmes is both Hot and a very good actress. Some movies that she was very good in: Phone Booth Wonder Boys Pieces of April Go Abandon She does have amazing eyes and 'Pieces of April' was a surprisingly good film, but she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, that's for DAMN sure.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) Sure. Myself, though, I'm more of a "spur of the moment" guy. I'd like to get the "Sox 7" or "Ozzie 13", but I just can't decide 6 months ahead of time which games I want to go to. It's one of my flaws that my wife repeatedly points out. I had the same problem last year, because of work and weather, I just could not commit to games in advance. There should be some kind of 'frequent walk up buyer' incentive. -
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:48 PM) Is this a joke? In his entire career I don't think he has ever not been selective at the plate... ..........and that's a good thing, right? He might have the best eye at the plate in all of baseball.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) And the American Way.. Of course it is. There will come a day when people commit crimes just for the pay day to come later. Criminals are our new celebrities. Reminds me of 'Natural Born Killers'.

QUOTE(ISF @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) I'm more concerned with Frank continuing to be selective at the plate. The power threat is a huge addition to the lineup though. what do you mean?......concerned about what exactly?

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) Just keep Mike North out of the booth and I'm fine with it. ....I could do without Farmer, but oh well.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 08:17 AM) I like Gload but I just like to call him the Choad. By the way, Konerko's name when he is playing like crap is Paulsy. Unfortunately, we gotta keep that kind of fun in the chat Jabs. Some people are way too serious around here.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 08:06 PM) Jay Leno claimed it was the dad that was the freak.. and George Lopez flat out called Jackson and Mezz liars when they tried to claim the mother went to him for $$. Tucker owes MJ his life since it was Jackson who pulled his sorry butt off the crack infested streets he was living on before he made it.. Every single person that testified for Jackson had a reason not to cross him, IMO. From what I've read not all the jury had issue with her, but that's really not my point. My point is that based on the 1108 the jury believes that he DID molest children based on a pattern of behavior. It's a proven fact that pedophiles DO NOT rehabilitate. They, based on their gut feelings.. allowed a pedophile to walk free. I hope they are proud of themselves. Well it happens ever day, just like those who appear to be, or are innocent, get locked up. It's the system and that's how it works. I'm done with MJ.
