  1. Here's what JR is thinking: I can either finish in 2nd in the Central year after year and not make any money OR I can finish 3rd year after year in the East and line my pockets nicely. See, it's not about winning. Does he really think that if the Sox moved to the East and made more money, that even with that extra money he would ever be able to match what the Bankees have?? C'mon Jerry, you gotta do a better job of fooling us.
  2. I hate to be Mr. Gloom, but I'm ready to get excited about all the possible things JR could do and be dissapointed by how few of them actually happen. The Sox will throw out big names and claim to be 'interested' in them, just to stir up fan interest, sell tix and then go out and get 'B List' guys.
  3. Last night, she said Oh baby I feel so down...... anyone? anyone?
  4. What does it tell you guys about a player, or about a team, when it plays well after the pressue is off?
  5. I'd rather give up Paulie and either way I don't think we'd get Beltran.
  6. So basically, you can't have all power and no speed or all speed and no pwer. A balance of power, OBP and speed is the key. It scares me to think this might be a revelation to KW and Ozzie.
  7. I think KWs 'interest' in Maggs is all P.R. and B.S. He's gone, but KW still needs to say all the right things.
  8. But there are no negotiations going on right now and there won't be any until after the season, but I see what you mean. Let's assume that even after the season ends, Maggs condition has not improved and Drs say he might be out for all of 2005, I can't imagine any team would sign him during the off season. Is he then without a team for all of 2005?
  9. ...to clarify, I did not mean to imply that the Burke incident was the cause of our demise, it was just a reply to it. One would have to be a fool to say losing Frank and Maggs didn't hurt tremendously, but the race should still have been a lot closer, maybe even winnable, IMO.
  10. Maggs is a free agent at the end of this season and I know the season is not officially over, so techinically he is still property of the White Sox...but KW talks like the Sox have "dibs" on him. Nice try Sucka.
  11. Ozzie didn't say or do anything wrong about the Hunter/Burke incident. He said the play was hard nosed. When Ozzie made those comments he also said that if any of his players had a problem, they should 'do something about it.' That's like when you came home with a black eye crying as a kid and your Dad said 'well, are you gonna keep crying or are you gonna go do something about it?' If I'm a player, to me that is a challenge and the green light from my manager. I'm not waiting for him to directly TELL me to plunk Hunter, I'm plunking him regardless. Ozzie doesn't take the field, his players do. The Sox players punked out, Ozzie did not.
  12. Sweet, good reason to plan a trip to Frisco. The Sox, Bond's HR record breaking season, relatively new park, cool town, etc.
  13. The suggestion to get Griffey and the picture you have of that guy banging his head on the keyboard could not go together any more perfectly.
  14. In today's Sun-Times he says something like, 'in spring training if you had told me that Harris was gonna hit .260-.270, I would have said "Great".... (Harris was hitting .260 going into Monday's game.) .... I just would have wanted more from Willie'. What does Ozzie mean by that? If Harris hitting .260 is great, what's the problem when he actually hits .260??
  15. Ozzie has stated numerous times that this team needs playes with better OBP and more speed. How does your line up help in those areas?
  16. Amen, does a line up which includes, Crede, Harris, Uribe and Borchard strike fear into opposing pitchers?
  17. Then the system is the problem. I agree, lawsuits shouldn't be profitable, they should cover medical bills and time off from work, no more. As for all this 'pain and suffering' BS, pay for them to see a shrink for as long as they need to. No one should get a house and 3 cars out of a lawsuit.
  18. Not only that, but if you look at the WAY he threw the chair, it wasn't aimed at anyone specifically, it was a reckless toss into their general vacinity.
  19. Maybe June-Sept. of 2000 was a fluke and everything since is reality. We have to forget about 2000 and look at Aug. and Sept. of 2004, cuz that's REALLY the team we have.
  20. She shouldn't sue over getting hit by a thrown chair?
  21. Did you guys hear the latest? The woman's husband said he was blocking her for protection, but when saw the chair flying, he ducked.
  22. Do you remember last year at Sox Fest, when Ozzie asked: 'Why are you people so angry'? Think he'll ask that again next year?
  23. I'm not an attorney, nor do I play one on TV, so I have never understood why people are awarded extra money in lawsuits. You should have your medical bills and time off from work covered, you break even, that's it. All this emotional trauma is BS. On the other hand, if the chair had hit me, you'd better believe I'm calling an attorney.
  24. I agree 100%. I could deal with a broken nose...if the price is right.
