  1. Oh yeah, I bet his heart will be irrecognizable at the autopsy.
  2. That must have been a wild ride because it's all related. One of the many side effects of steroids is depression, especially once you go off of them. That might have led to him needing a little 'pick me up', like coke. Coke also gives you tons of energy, probably leading to better work outs, leading to probably more steroid usage etc, etc.
  3. Actually, if he didn't lift a finger and just ate right, he could lose a ton of weight. being inactive doesn't have to mean you'll blow up.
  4. It sure it is, 2005 could be a big year for the Sox to jump in and steal the limelight BUT we won't.
  5. Interesting to say the least. Frank needs to get on a serious diet. Since he's not banging out 65 home runs a year, there really is no reason for him to carry so much weight.
  6. Maybe he was extremely 'gifted'. Now think about it again.
  7. Why not Konerko? His trade value will never be higher and I'm willing to gamble that he won't put up those numbers again next year. Besides, Palsy can't run to save his life.
  8. the baseball season is far from over, playoffs tomorrow.
  9. Ok, this is going to be hard for you guys to believe, but here goes. Before the start of the season, I made a bet with my Cub fan buddy. It had nothing to do with the Sox. I bet him that the Cubs would not make the playoffs this year, not even the wildcard. He laughed and ridiculed me non stop. The bet? If they made it, I had to go to a game at the Cell in a Cub's jersey. If they didn't, he had to go to a game at Wrigley in a Sox jersey. 2003 kicked out the little bit of life that franchise had in it. 2005 will not be any different, they are in complete disarray internally. Remember, most teams tend to show you what they're gonna be like in the 1st couple of years of being together.
  10. Willie Harris' reaction immediately after he and Maggs collided in short right. He jumped up and looked like a mad man, anyone else remember that? Kinda Funny. The opening day shocker. No one throwing at Hunter, post Burke tackle. The realization that we're gonna stink......for a while.
  11. Like everything else, if it's cheap, there's a reason. Too long, too boring, too uncomfotable, not nearly as scenic as in the movies.
  12. I have different reasons for rooting for the Twins, Red Sox and Cardinals. Twins- I'd like the WS winner to come from the AL Central. Red Sox, my 2nd favorite team and I'd like to see that 'cursed teams, with old parks, pity us, support group fan base' relationship they have with Cubs be squashed. Cardinals-this one should be obvious.
  13. Crede's problem at the plate comes from a lack of confidence, which is all mental. He needs to approach his at bats with a 'one pitch at a time' attitude. If he swings at a bad pitch, so what, strike one, move on to the next one and don't dwell on it. If you read his body language, it says it all. He'll take a bad swing and then drop his head, frown, mope around the plate, drag his bat, then steps back in the box. In many at bats, he's defeated after the 1st pitch.
  14. I believe Nomar will leave the Cubs and not come to the Sox.
  15. I think we all see a great potential in John Garland and to me it's frustrating to see him be so stubborn at times. Ozzie and Coop have on a few occasisons said that he is only a few mental adjustments way from being a real winner. Specifically, that he needs to remain focused and tough and not allow the 1 big inning that seems to hurt him sometimes. Garland's reply is always basically that he is not going to change the way he does things. If I didn't think he had potentail, I wouldn't be as frustrated with him, but when he's so close to being a lot better and refuses to make adjustments, it's hard to be in his corner.
  16. Even if an individual had purchased them, if you explain the situation to them, most reputable places will try to protect you.
  17. Well, I know that if I shelled out that kinda loot for tix, I would have kept a receipt. All you'd have to do is call the ticket office, find out what seats they were and wait for the dumb asses to show up for the game. It was more common sense than honesty on the part of those kids.
  18. Maybe I missed this, how about HRs allowed?
  19. I'd think for tickets at that much money, you'd somehow get busted trying to use them.
  20. 10, but zero after August 15th. Next game for me at the Cell will be for the ALCS, so in other words you might never see me there again
  21. Yep, I think KW would have gone after and gotten Randy Johnson along with Contreras, maybe even a couple of other moves and made some real noise. Once Frank and Maggs went down, everyone knew that team was done and very few players had any interest in coming here.
  22. sorry to butt in here, but I read tequila and well. Have you ever tried 'Cazadores'? So smooth, you can pour yourself a glass and sip it. Very affordable too.
  23. We go out and only get arms in the off season. The offense continues to blow mules and we lose a lot of 3-2 and 4-3 ballgames. But hey, pitching is all you need right? riiiiiiiight.
  24. I don't know about that, I believe people of different ethnicities definitely handle the cold differently, lol.
