  1. It's official, I'll be home from Aug. 30th -Sept. 10th. The Sox should be 20 games out by then. Woo-Hoo.
  2. How about "1908 was so long ago that no matter where I researched, the same five lousy facts came up" ?
  3. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 11:27 PM) Saw the Simpsons movie. Like Kalapse, I'd heard all of you people and some of my friends saying how funny it was. It had some pretty funny jokes in it, but it's still as bad as the new episodes are. It got a few chuckles, very few.
  4. I've always wondered why no one in that family seemed to care that she was dragging the family name through the mud.
  5. A co worker and I have a friendly Sox fan-Cub fan rivalry going on at work. I'm trying to compile a list of what things were like in 1908. For example, a gallon of milk cost this much, this had not been invented yet, these laws had not been passed yet, etc. Can I find such a list?
  6. Last night we had a thunderstorm which lasted about an hour. Bright lightning, loud thunder and NO rain, not one single drop. I have never experienced that before. The desert can be very bizarre.
  7. QUOTE(Cali @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 08:40 PM) Listening to a little De-Loused in the Comatorium, soooooooo good. I wish Mars Volta would go back to writing song again. If someone remastered the last two albums and edited out all the jam session, avant garde BS, they would be a 1000x better. I really dont listen to you guys for the static and feedback portions of your songs... I remember hearing that they would prefer to get rid of songs all together and just basically jam all the time including concerts and s***. Lame. AMEN. I've always said there are about 45 minutes of great music in every Volta record. Unfortunately you have to suffer through all the other crap to find it. God forbid they lose their 'indie cred' by writing solid, three and a half minute songs.
  8. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:57 AM) Pearl Jam is doing a "fanclub only" show at The Vic. My neighbor, who is the biggest PJ freak I have ever known, is beside himself with glee. It's sho hard to show excitement about stuff like that. Really? That's nice of them. Wonder how much tix are? I have a buddy back who loves them too. Like a million other bands, I liked PJ's first two albums, then........
  9. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 11:41 AM) Or skip that area all together. Cologne tastes like s*** and should not be applied anywhere that could potentially be licked. So, basically, you're saying don't wear any at all. ;)
  10. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 11:46 AM) He was deceptive to congress. Claiming that Jose was FOS and that there was no problem. Him and Raffy were the two screaming to the high heavens that the situatuion was being exaggerated. Well, we can only go by what we know for sure. So far, what % of players have tested positive? I think Canseco claimed 75% of MLB was juicing. I'm pretty sure 75% of MLB has not tested positive, so was it an exaggeration?
  11. " Don't put too much on...people should only smell you when they are close to you. There's nothing worse then announcing your presence in a room with your scent." YES, classic amatuer mistake. A good rule is don't apply it anywhere above your chest. I do one squeeze on my chest, that's it. If you're going on a date, do a second squeeze in your lower ab area.
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 26, 2007 -> 10:01 AM) You know why all of baseball feels that way, Canseco? Because Schilling is 1. More talented and successful than most people in baseball 2. A better communicator and 3. Because so many people in baseball are upset with him for speaking out against the steroids that they were on and are. Schilling's a bit of a b****, but I like him enough. I agree. I've never really understood the hate towards Schilling. If I'm not mistaken, he's always responding to questions. You ask a question, you get an answer, right?
  13. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 09:24 PM) Well different things smell differently on different people. What smells great for one person may not smell great on the other. Look for colognes that have jasmine, vanilla, and/or cinnamon. Ding. Try diffrerent ones and find out how they smell on you and how long they last. Some colognes fade on me within minutes, some last all day. Back home, I had a winter cologne and a summer cologne. The winter cologne was bolder, deeper, darker and the summer one was lighter and more fresh. I'll never tell you what I wear though.
  14. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 24, 2007 -> 09:29 PM) Whoa we have a serious case of Rudolph right there Earlier in the week she modeled her alky-anklet She looks better in that mug shot than most women do on their best day and that picture of her in the bikini is completely off the chain. Give me a call LL, we'll party. She'll be fine, I'm rooting for a Britney and a LL come back.
  15. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 03:20 AM) All I can say is that Terry is a man, and Beckham should learn from him. Plays with a toe he broke on Weds, in a game that means nothing, and scores the only goal. Yep, Backham should man up and take a 250 million dollar gamble.
  16. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) In the past few weeks, I was shrugging off all this hype and kind of got tired of the coverage of David Beckham coming to the US. I accidentally turned on ESPN during pregame coverage and actually got into a tad. I don't watch soccer or follow it, but found it interesting that so many people were into it. I thought it was kind of cool. He only played the last 10 minutes. I found out before the game it was just an exhibition game, so I really don't blame Beckham for not playing the entire game. If it helps soccer in the US get popular, I'm all for it. I watched the 1st half. Did he play at all?
  17. Surprising this kind of thing doesn't happen more often. How difficult would it be to track down a ref, or umpire and threaten him. Who is gonna protect that ref? The cops? Pfft, how exactly and for how long?
  18. Ok, so add up who played the most sports at the College level or higher and end the discussion.
  19. QUOTE(Cali @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 12:24 PM) Yeah they're still around and sound NOTHING like they used to. Kick ass rock music with Big orchestral arrangements and s***, pretty awesome stuff. They're starting to get back into the main stream now though, they play them on the radio out here and they were just on Leno the other night... Also they're still huge in Australia. They're like as big as Coldplay is in the US over there... I really liked Frogstomp, so I might not like the new stuff, but if I get a chance I'll give it a listen.
  20. By best athlete, do we mean simply the guy who plays the most sports? To me the best athlete is a guy with the most ATHLETICISM, even if it's just on the baseball field. Speedy, agile, quick feet, hops, etc.
  21. I'm amazed at how much more affordable homes are in the burbs. Put that home on the northside of Chicago and it triples in price.
  22. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 12:38 PM) I don't know man...If her story is true then she was originally going to a public pool with hundereds of others. What was her comfort level with all those strangers? Good point, but don't you think it should at least raise an eyebrow to investigators? QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 12:49 PM) either not enough or too many depending on what beach you are at. lol, bikinis, the best and worst part about beaches.
  23. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jul 12, 2007 -> 09:09 AM) I've been kinda going back and forth with my with my wife about this. She and all the news programs keep hammering the fact she is in a bikini. I say...who cares? Since when did bikini become such a dirty word? Since when did bikini become construed as having an affair or doing something immoral. Women wear bikini's around other men all the time. Would it have been better if she was in a one piece? I think the big deal here is that she brought her kids over to a murder suspects house. DUMB DUMB DUMB. I'm sure she felt safe and all. Even if this guy did off his wife he hasn't shown anything to say he is a mass murderer and he's going to kill other people and children too, but still. This guy may have murdered his wife in cold blood. Is that who you want your kids to hang around. Lets just assume for a quick second that her story is true(as much as we never want to do that). She hadn't spent any time with her kids. She promised them they would go to the pool. Then on her way she gets this phone call. She thinks she can get some big scoop and the kids will still get to go to a pool. There's other mothers and other children there as well. Yeah it was a dumb decision. You shouldn't mix your private time and professional time, but I'm sure she's not the first reporter to do it. And if she did get some big scoop, NBC wouldn't give a s*** how she obtained it or what she was wearing when she did so. If this was Chuck Goudie in that exact same situation, brought his kids there, wore his swim trunks would this even be a story?? No, because nobody would assume anything sexual between the two guys. It should be a story, because it's a reporter subjecting his kids to a murder suspect, but it wouldn't be. Throw in a female reporter though and this has some nice tabloidness to it. Take any woman, no mattter how hot she is and she is at least somewhat self conscious in a bathing suit. Of course there is nothing 'wrong' with wearing a bikini to a pool party. BUT, IMO it demonstrates a certain comfort level between her and the suspect and that should be enough for any good investigator to at least question what kind of relationship they have. That's all.
  24. Anyone catch the piece on Rick Ankiel on SC last night? Apparently the guy is playing lights out in the minors.....as a center fielder. Good luck to him.
