  1. i don't love the cell and it pales in comparison to the retro parks that followed it, but i think it gets somewhat of a bad rap sometimes. it has improved since opening and it has always been a good place to watch the game. really do wish they had accommodated mccuddy's though.
  2. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 01:32 AM) Source: Ramirez to Chicago let's go now. this is it.
  3. to be honest, the jaking it aspect of things about manny bothers me more than the steroids. not that i'm a fan of roiders, but it's clear that a ton of guys were using. it was the culture of that time period in baseball. it wasn't right, but it's hard for me to damn one guy and give a bunch of other guys a pass because they were fortunate to not get caught or have their names leaked.
  4. espn1000 doesn't know any more than we do at this moment. they probably have levine sitting at a desk and refreshing twitter every minute.
  5. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 05:02 PM) Does any NL team really want any part of Manny roaming in their outfield? Manny is a DH everyone knows this, Manny knows this, that's why he wants back to AL. you do wonder if manny has let it be known through intermediaries that he wouldn't accept a trade to an nl team.
  6. the earlier tweets from the dodger beat guy are a little ominous.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 01:26 AM) Konerko's stats have almost entirely been linked to his injuries, especially his thumb. He does tend to over analyze and get stuck in quick sand if he's going bad, but when healthy he's pretty consistent. yahoo! had a good story last week about paulie. essentially he said that he's come to terms with his swing and isn't as obsessive about his performance as he once was. he needs to talk to tcq.
  8. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 12:56 AM) Then Monday on WGN again @ Cleveland - a rare three days in a row for us out-of-towners. Sweet. no doubt. gracias el.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) link *boing*
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 25, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) This is exactly how I feel. We have a chance to add a potential impact bat for September. If he's even semi-productive, he makes our offense much stronger. Worst case scenario, he's an upgrade over Mark Kotsay, puts some people in the seats and sends a message to the team that this season isn't over yet. Why do some people on here want to give up on this season so quickly? people have been waiting to give up since may.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) Carter was not in the Swisher deal, that was Gio and Fautino De Los Santos, and Ryan Sweeney. Carter was traded straight up for Quentin. Carter was then dealt to Oakland as part of the Dan Haren deal. Carter could absolutely rake in the big leagues and I'd still defend that deal, since it single handedly got us a playoff birth. thanks. i got sweeney confused with carter. the swisher deal still is the one i don't like. hard to argue with the price we paid to get quentin.
  12. the swisher deal is the one that bothers me the most probably. i really liked gio and carter. i'd probably take back pena for brandon allen if given the chance.
  13. i don't follow the salary stuff as closely as others but what are the odds that the opening day rotation next year is buehrle, peavy, danks, floyd, and jackson? for the purposes of this question, i will say that there are no hiccups in peavy's rehab and he's ready to roll when spring training starts next year.
  14. just wanted to thank Athomeboy again for setting up the MLB Twitter list. been a great resource the past day or two.
  15. olney: Heard this: Already, a whole lot of speculation among rival FO about whether the White Sox will place a waiver claim on Manny in Aug.#trades
  16. rosenthal: #WhiteSox still working on Dunn. Would be Jackson-plus. Source: "This thing is far from over." #MLB
  17. QUOTE (Big Daddy Kool @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 06:02 PM) Luke Scott anyone? TBrownYahoo Luke Scott getting play. But, not from the Dodgers. half a minute ago via web
  18. somewhat sox related from stark: If #Mariners trade Brandon League, doesn't look as if it's to #Rays. Hearing Tampa Bay unlikely to make another deal today. #trades
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 06:40 PM) But then we're stuck with no pitcher? i'd imagine they'd tried to ham and egg it through the end of the season. i don't think the torres story in the trib today was any coincidence.
  20. as is i think the sox could win the division, but that's about it. the lack of a quality lefty bat is a flaw that cannot be denied. the further you go the more apparent the flaws you have will become.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) The Sun Times, obviously. they aren't editing his twitter feed, so they may or may not be ok with it. but frankly, if he's driving traffic and generating interest, they probably are ok. such is life in a dying business.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 05:31 PM) Really, it's ok to be that much of a jerk in public to other sportswriters? who said it's ok?
  23. yahoo's brown: Manny market heating up. Sources: Three teams have called Dodgers about him -- White Sox, Rays and mystery club. Dodgers are considering.
  24. i know he's not popular here but LOL at cowley digging on rogers: cst_sox In other shocking news, Phillip didn't like the trade, as the Trib Tower points its finger down on the South Side. at least he's an equal-opportunity a--hole.
