  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 07:04 PM) The refs suck, Boston deliberately made this ice s***ty, they're hurting our guys, and we still don't want to get back to Chicago. Let's go! I think it's hurt Boston just as much if not more.
  6. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 06:21 PM) Shaw is back. has bunch of stitches And a penalty.
  7. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 24, 2013 -> 06:03 PM) LMAO could these refs be more obvious? First they make sure the ice is complete trash, now we can't get a call haha. Shaw got busted by a high stick.....no call. Thought the NBA was bad.....NHL wants that Game 7 haha Unless you're thinking of something else Shaw got a puck to the face which isn't a penalty.
  8. Prediction: Toews gets a goal, Hawks win 3-2. Hawks win Lord of the Flies Cup.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 07:46 PM) I don't know why we want to trade pitching. The goal is to get good again. To get good, we pretty much need to replace every one of our everyday position players. The pitching is fine. If we trade all our pitchers, we may never be good again, 15-25 years. The way to rebuild is get 3-4 position players through free agency for next season while keeping most of our pitching. If you want to trade one reliever and one starter, I guess I'm OK with that. How bout trading Crain for 2 outstanding prospects and trade Peavy if anybody wants him since he can't stay healthy. Repeat: Completely turn over our lineup; keep the pitchers. Greg you hit the nail on the head. The Sox aren't losing games by a lot . The Sox look like crap because the defense and hitting both have been terrible. Even with that happening we aren't getting beat bad but barely beat . Get a few guys who can both hit and play D . Even 2 or 3 more decent hitters can turn those close games into wins and those bats and defenders don't all have to come in trades especially if the trades make a lot more money available. I think with this in mind the Sox will package some players together if they can find a contending team to take a lot of salary . So who will we see getting traded besides high salary guys ? Maybe some our young guys who are or will have trouble finding a true position because of their defense, aka Viciedo /De Aza. I really hope Viciedo goes on a tear and makes himself more marketable.
  10. I voted no. The belief the Sox have to take is that we have the starting pitching already. We do not have the bats or defense. We lose most games by 1-3 runs. Strategy going forward is keep the starting pitching , see what we can get for what we do trade away and go from there. Get younger, get more defense, get bats , dump salary ,even get more pitching . We average 1-1.5 more run per game , which may not seem like a lot but is, and we are right back in the thick of things. Add run prevention and run production but don't touch the starting pitching.
  11. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 02:01 PM) I don't think you shop Sale. Also I think when you are shopping a player you are focusing on him because you want a good return. There's no point of shopping Dunn or Paulie for example. So you're saying if someone is interested you say no ? You have to at least listen to offers . You're not the shopper in that case you're the retailer , hopefully not the wholesaler. But if you get an offer you like , you trade. So you can trade even if you don't shop them.
  12. Maybe all those scoreless appearances has something to do with it and who else is there ?
  13. Put this K machine down then get the DP.
  14. Since you said "shop" and not trade. Yes. You shop everyone, trade is another thing.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 01:34 PM) I'm not talking about perception, not the actuality. Like power forwards should rebound (the anti Bosh) and point guards should be creative passers. Doesn't mean it's going to happen, but that's part of the reason we've spent so much time and energy and resources drafting players like Mitchell, Walker and now Tim Anderson. Because KW/Hahn have always desired that prototypical guy, ever since Pods became an ineffective basestealer and they also tried to force Pierre into the role when he was no longer effective in that role. Finally, some of those teams without a lot of steals from leadoff....I'm going to bet they came from teams where they had strong 3-6 hitters i the order and they didn't want to sacrifice outs on the basepaths. Whereas this Sox team has to be more creative in finding ways to score. Maybe we should deal with reality. The farther we get away from the PED era , if that's even possible, speed , pitching and defense becomes more important at as many positions as possible .A lead off man stealing bases is not all that important. Over all team speed is.
  16. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jun 23, 2013 -> 12:01 PM) Anyone who thought there would be a suspension is delusional. A stick to the mouth is high sticking. Swinging a stick and connecting to the face is totally different. I didn't think there would be a suspension. After all a stick to the mouth can knock out a few teeth .What Boychuk did could paralyze someone . I realize there is plenty of opinions opposing mine including obviously the NHL's. I also realize when a teams top line is kicking your ass you become a target. That's part of the way hockey is played. It's quite a dilemma for the NHL to promote the skill of players while those very skills make you extremely vunerable to viciousness.
  17. Woo Dunn 2 run HR . Working his way towards .200
  18. Total BS . To hit a superstar like that ,regardless of if its the Stanley Cup finals, is inexcusable especially since Toews has missed time with a concussion before this. If Keith gets suspended for a stick to the mouth why not Boychuk ? Hossa would 've missed significant time with a hit like that last year during the playoffs if it wasn't for the strike. I know Raffi Torres was a repeat offender but the NHL just showed the Cup finals take precedent over player safety and all that talk about not tolerating hits to the head is just lip service.
