Silverio is Raking
QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) Damn, that's impressive for any league. We must either have some really good talent there or guys too old to be playing in that league. Hopefully the former. In Silverio's case he just turned 18 . Didn't have a particularly impressive season at Bristol especially with the glove. But he's very young with tons of upside.

If Konerko can't go... Who should come up?
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) I posted in the game thread that if they think they are still in it, Thome has to play first in the national league parks if Konerko can not go. That lineup would be embarassing if Thome, Konerko and Quentin are all out in the NL parks. Thomes 1st base days are over. Don't expect him to play and if Konerko gets DL'd should be a lefthanded bat. Allen and Ward are both lefties aren't they? Considering most pitchers are righties ,Allen could start a lot of games with PK out.

Floyd gets Inge with 2 great curves: one the big breaking slow curve then the hard breaking curve that starts off like a fast ball.

Silverio is Raking
After 10 games the DSL Sox are 10-0. Silverio with 4 HR and 16 RBI. Also at this point in his career he's an error machine at SS.

Trayce Thompson signability
The kid could end up with Dunn type power.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 11:42 AM) Well, on avg your fav baseball team will lose 80 games a year. They wont get a hit more than 70 percent of the time. Its a game of failure, people need to realize that. Yep. Gotta learn to appreciate the little things, find the silver lining or w/e cliche is en voque.Take the kid out for ice cream weather they golden sombrero it or hit a walkoff or a sink a buzzer beater.Never get too high (cough cough) or too low.

If Konerko can't go... Who should come up?
Also Ward is a vet and it's always good to have a guy on the team with the same last name as moi (Maybe I can get his game worn jersey very very very cheap at the Sox garage sale.) Me and my older bro were happy as kids when we could lie and say Pete Ward (ex-sox 3rd baseman for you kids) was an uncle .

Has Viciedo played any 1st base this year? I don't think he has. I'd love to see Allen . Haven't seen an Allen at 1st base for the Sox since Dick.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 11:32 AM) His upside is probably Grady Sizemore. Grady and Brady (Anderson) both have(had) quite a following amongst the ladies. For those of you bored waiting on the game. Check out a very funny woman's thoughts on Brady Anderson. We don't often get a woman fans perspective around here on baseball hunks. Also the comments after are pretty good too. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...sa%3DX%26um%3D1

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 11:28 AM) I think his median should be around Mike Cameron or Steve Finley in their primes. or Brady Anderson minus the 50 homer year.

Konerko and his thumb
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- « Josh Fields in White Sox's lineup, weather update | Main | U.S. Cellular Field weather update » Originally posted: June 11, 2009 Paul Konerko could return as soon as Friday, Ozzie Guillen says no talk of breakup By Mark Gonzales First baseman Paul Konerko believes he could return to the White Sox's lineup as soon as Friday night at Milwaukee. Konerko said he will take a pain-numbing injection Thursday, adding that the discomfort is similar to what he coped with last year. He hoped to hold off on an injection until the All-Star break but the pain became too acute. He said the discomfort was so bad that he had to take a two-strike pitch in his second at-bat Wednesday night against Justin Verlander that resulted in a called third strike This doesn't sound good. What's the point in playing him ? Call up Ward or Allen let them platoon with Fields and put PK on the DL.

QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 10:55 AM) It'd be great to see Allen up with the big club, and see what he can do.... I think so too. I hate giving up on the season so early and I really won't until we're like15 games out in the middle of July. Then I'd expect to see Allen , Danks and whoever else the Sox want to call up.

Konerko and his thumb
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 09:58 AM) Yep and it really is a great situation since Viciedo is quite the talent. That said he's gotten better and better each month in Bham and I fully believe we'll see him up in September to get a cup of coffee. He is going to be an incredible hitter, the only thing that might prevent him from being a perennial all star might be his lack of plate discipline, but the guy flat out can rake and uses all fields. He's going to be a special one. I love Viciedo. Still looks like we have too many 1B/ DH types unless we see big improvements from guys like Viciedo and Flowers with the gloves. Right now Viciedo's D is atrocious . But if he learns to be more selective at the dish he will be a monster.

A MESSAGE TO THE SOXTALK COMMUNITY
I've learned over the years you just have to let the losing go. Every year you will eventually be disappointed if the goal is to win a World Series. So sit back ,relax , and strap it down. And when we lose get up ,unstrap it, take a deep breath and go spend time with the wife , kids, g/f ,or bff and realize what's really important in life.

SI: MLB Team by Team Draft Rankings Past 10 Years
QUOTE (gsoxs1 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) Wow. Reading this makes me depressed about how bad our team has drafted over the years. Are biggest steal was Matt Guerrier(10th round in 99). I don't remmember him being that good. Current Key players Fields, Getz, and Richard. Verdict is still out on all 3, but seems like Fields might be on his way out. Link http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...tml?eref=sihpT1 The farm system's taken a lot of heat of the last 10 years but really its a crapshoot. The bottom 15 teams could all have been interchangeable and the Sox have produced more major leaguers then a lot of teams who are ahead of them .Also have done wll trading minor leaguers who never made it for established players.
