  1. QUOTE (qwerty @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) From everything he has said about owens in the past up until this very day there is no doubt is a fan of owens. He always gives owens always gets the benefit of the doubt. OK I won't speak for him any more but I know for sure he likes BA so ,maybe , he just hopes for the best for many Sox players as I do. If search actually ever worked I'm sure I could find many of his posts making smarmy comments about BA's lack of playing time. He's a good guy, knowlegdable and very fair minded.
  2. Liilibridge GO up the middle (0-5 ,3 more K's) , Kroeger K's (0-4 2 K's) , Konerko GO to 2nd (0-5) game over 11-7 Royals win.
  3. QUOTE (qwerty @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) Players actually ''fall off'' much quicker than the age of 30. Major leaguers? No. Life time minor leaguers? Hell yes. This sort of thing happens all the time, especially to players that were never very good in the first place, owens just so happens to fall into that category. Why do all the studs hit or pitch so well in high school, college, or any portion of the minors, and then go on to hit a wall? Generally when this wall is hit it is before the age of 25, thus us knowing they will likely never help out a major league team. Their best days are behind them, they are over matched, really that simple. Aberrations happen all the time in sports, the 2005 season for owens was just that. This is simply beating a dead horse as you are still a backer of his, though nothing will change your mind until he hurts the sox once more with his production, or should i say his lack of production. Btw, owens is really is not all that fast, so there goes his only ''asset''. Actually Balta is a big BA fan.
  4. Fields singles up the middle , Viciedio HBP , Eider Torres forces Viciedo but no DP as Torres ran hard. Flowers 2 run double into the LF corner 11-7 now.
  5. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) it was pretty ugly, which got me wondering what his minor league splits vs. lefties were....and he actually has hit lefties better in his career than righties Every hitter in baseball looks ugly swinging many times in the course of a season. I'm glad you looked up his splits , you just can't look at one at bat and make any kind of judgements. Well you can they're just not likely to be very accurate.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) I wouldn't mind Coop and Walker taking Poreda and Viciedo aside and just have AP throw live sliders to him for an hour. It might help both of them. An hours worth of sliders from your best pitching prospect would not be a good thing. That could be over 100 breaking balls in a row .
  7. Crede 3-3 today with a double and 2 run HR . Still hitting .185 so far. Swisher 3-4 all singles but 3 rbi now hitting .222 . Maier just crushes one way out to right 11-5 Royals.
  8. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) He plays good defense at 3 positions, thats why he has a good chance to make the team. I think we're seeing Nix at SS because Lillibridge isn't hitting. Can't afford more dead wood on the bench when all 3 of your CF candidates and maybe backup catcher aren't recognized as hitters either.
  9. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 02:47 PM) Egbert has a legitimate chance to make the team. So far so good , everyone still has plenty of time to impress or screw up.
  10. Restovich leading off with Viciedo on deck.
  11. Egbert with 1-2-3 inning 2 GO's and a K got ahead of all 3 hitters. That might be his 10th inning this spring with no ER.
  12. A lot of Soxtalkers keep insisting that Lillibridge will be a backup on the 25 man roster because of speed and his D but I don't see it happening unless he gets more wood on the ball.
  13. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 02:19 PM) since when is corky miller able to hit? Corky'ed bat ?
  14. I really loved that inning. Fields down 0-2 worked a walk. Then Restovich opposite field double , then Allen with the triple , Getz with the GO rbi and the Miller HR. Love getting to see the new guys perform well even if most of them end up back in the minors. We hardly see any triples during the season and not even enough doubles.
  15. Never underestimate the motivational power of one last big payday.
  16. Funny story about what happened when Griffey came to bat in the 1st inning of the exhibtion game against the Mariners and further down the page a heart warming salute to the US Marines who attended a recent Sox/Dodger game. There are pictures included and a link to a letter of thanks from 2 of the Marines thanking Barry Zito who paid for the trip . http://whitesoxpride.mlblogs.com/
  17. Final 15-5 Sox , Brandon Allen also homered, Beckham 0-4
  18. Kroeger just homered. solo .
  19. Beckham finally K's on a called 3rd strike. 1st time all spring if I'm not mistaken.
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 02:33 PM) Branyan must hate the Blackhawks.
  21. Russell Branyan homers and B'Hawks lose 4-2.
  22. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 02:06 PM) How many(if ANY) extra base hits has Owens had this spring? I cannot think of one Me neither .
  23. 4-1 Islanders, Dye pops out. 3 outs
