4/5: Chicago Royals @ KC Royals @640 CT - Fedde vs. Singer
Lol I only brought it up because I read about 10 different opinions on the call. Most angles showed nothing , the ones looking at it from the first base view behind the runner, because you couldn't see his foot. After the tag on the foot the glove came up very quick and missed everything else by a wide margin ,which is what you see from perhaps a LF camera in front of the runner. Royals announcers were saying the knee . I was like wtf are they looking at. I saw top of the upper half on his foot. That's the only angle I saw that showed a tag.

Finally someone sees it correctly. Got him on the shoe and nowhere else.

The moment this all started
It changed nothing. It was just a more public display of who was in charge. Jerry Reinsdorf.

The moment this all started
The rebuild was doomed to fail from the start. Hahn, Williams and JR especially we're still running things. Organizational failures go right to JR . Sure he let his GM get old nearly washed up veterans for Tatis Jr. and Marcus Semien. Chris Bassett is still pitching effectively. Where's one International guy from the DR who became anything with the Sox ? It's laughable to hear Getz talk about the DR academy. DR was too corrupt for St. Jerry to conduct business but that's just an excuse to not invest in youth which has always been his calling card along with not paying for tech and people to develop it. These tired old arguments trying to pinpoint one major mistake and wrap it all up with a bow are just lame. It's one person Jerry Reinsdorf .

Jake Burger
Hated that trade. I thought all the bros here on Soxtalk who loved it had their minds made up about Burger being a low OBP low batting avg , poor fielder. I thought he was very close to being a good hitter. His hard hit rate was near top of the AL and he just had a month where he walked 11 times. Hard to know if the Marlins made any immediate suggestions to increase contact but he immediately produces for them. Either just really bad timing by the Sox or a development failure. However Burger had always been focused on using the technology available to him . Ozzie Guillen always poked fun at it in the post game shows but it's easier for dinosaurs to poke fun than it is to say anything that helps is a good thing. I'm not here to crow, maybe Eder can become something but trading away much needed power and hard hit rate from a major leaguer with plenty of control for a pitcher who was coming off major arm surgery with very few innings under his belt seemed like longshot at the time. Time will tell on the trade just as it will on Fletcher /Mena. Debates will rage on but nothing is etched in stone now .

Sox @ KC Royals 4/4/24 6:40 central start
These ump really suck. 2 called strikes to Lopez off the plate and 1 to Fletcher

Charlotte Knights/Mendick victims of 26 run Norfolk/Orioles attack
I guess Nastrini got roughed up. He started that game didn't he ?

White Sox bring Mike Clevinger back, pending physical
Hard to guage the market. My guesstimate was meant to be conservative. Snell and other good pitchers weren't close to getting the HUGE contracts. Lorenzen got peanuts. Cleavingers comes in somewhere between Lorenzen and Flaherty if he didn't have the baggage.

4/2: Sox vs. Braves @ 640CT - Crochet v. Reylo (weather permitting)
Early game today. Free game of the day on MLB. TV. LFG !

Under what scenario would you consider offering Crochet and/or Kopech extensions?
I think we too often get ahead of ourselves like name the starting lineup in 2026. I just never understand the point. I know there is big picture thinking involved but Crochet has started 2 games and has an extensive injury history. We're a long way from an exercise in roster building.

Why are we thinking extensions right now exactly ?

You gotta be bleepin' me !!

And that's a 3-2 Garrett Crochet led White Sox winner!

or just pointing out that some fans don't think like lifetime baseball followers. Yea these umps have sucked since the beginning of the season and perhaps Pedro could've found the right time to get tossed but I don't think it was a good idea in that situation. But we do need some calls to go our way . If these umps are going to treat our guys like rookies because they lack talent and give superstars like Acuna the benefit of the doubt, Grifol is going to find plenty of opportunities to get tossed.- And that's a 3-2 Garrett Crochet led White Sox winner!
These things do happen every so often !- 4/2: Sox vs. Braves @ 640CT - Crochet v. Reylo (weather permitting)
That's why I say " interesting". I don't get too emotionally invested in the games. I like wins , want everyone to do well but losses are going to be plentiful because there's just not enough MLB talent on the team.- 4/2: Sox vs. Braves @ 640CT - Crochet v. Reylo (weather permitting)
A win !!- 4/2: Sox vs. Braves @ 640CT - Crochet v. Reylo (weather permitting)
Getting interesting- 4/2: Sox vs. Braves @ 640CT - Crochet v. Reylo (weather permitting)
Harris has a quick bat.- 4/2: Sox vs. Braves @ 640CT - Crochet v. Reylo (weather permitting)
Some times you don't want to start a protracted argument with your new pitcher, who has trouble throwing strikes, having a pissed off ump. You might wait til your guys are at bat and a call goes against us.- White Sox bring Mike Clevinger back, pending physical
Without the baggage the guy easily gets offered $10M+ maybe for multiple years.- White Sox bring Mike Clevinger back, pending physical
And ? I mean that was what Getz seemed to be doing from the onset. Call it what you will , the Bannister Plan or whatever. Get innings from Clevinger as a cheap innings eater and make guy in the minors earn their spot in the rotation. I thought that was what people wanted instead of rushing guys.- White Sox bring Mike Clevinger back, pending physical
Yes ? I think one part of Getz plan is to gather as much minor league talent as he can and at some point they will come up. But he wants them to force the issue by performance. You can't say Nastrini deserves to be in the rotation already based on performance unless you put a lot of stock in ST results. Clevinger is just a means to an end. Pay low, buy your young guys time.- White Sox bring Mike Clevinger back, pending physical
That's overblown. Gio has always said he liked it in Chicago and would be open to coming back.- White Sox bring Mike Clevinger back, pending physical
Same as Pillar actually. They didn't have to pay Pillar . His contract wasn't guaranteed so they said you're not making the team when we rather have the money. They didn't have to pay Clevinger more than they did because he was unwanted. He got a little more than the Pillar money. Both purely business decisions. There are contracts structured the same way all over baseball for the guys hanging on by a thread that say if you make the team we'll pay you more and then they are cut. Pillar's situation was not unique . No one would give him what the Sox offer was. It's a contract ,maybe him or his agent should have read it. If you have people over a barrel in business they have to accept offers on your terms. - 4/2: Sox vs. Braves @ 640CT - Crochet v. Reylo (weather permitting)
