I swear Cesar, Goodwin and some times Moncada have that I've hit the bong look about them. I know that's not fair at all . -

Why is that interesting ? Eloy is playing LF. I must be missing something. -
It will be very interesting what position players make the playoff roster. I would suppose it will depend on what the Sox feel is more valuable against Houston, speed , defense or more left handed power . Engel would seem like a lock over Vaughn and Goodwin but it's difficult to judge based on his mere 105 AB's . Where does Hamilton fit in ? How often can he be used as a defensive replacement and pinch runner. Do the Sox carry 2 or 3 catchers for the 1st round ? Vaughn is 4 for his last 50 AB's without any extra base hits and we haven't seen him since Sept. 9 . He could be in danger of losing a post season spot. Is Sheets more valuable than Vaughn for the playoffs based on health and power against RHP ? Basically it'll be a choice between Goodwin, Sheets, Vaughn, Hamilton and a 3rd catcher. That's 5 guys for how many spots are available ? That too depends on how many pitchers they carry.

Just perusing the box scores looking for anything interesting and looked up Haylen Green. 2021 20th rd pick from TCU . Started in ACL promoted to Kanny . He's been in 9 games with 10 IP without giving up any runs , 14 K, 0 BB. .60 WHIP. While in the ACL he pitched 8 innings and gave up 0 runs . He's 24 yrs old. 5'11" 185 and pitched for TCU. Here's a rundown of his Senior year. 2020 (Senior) Led the team with eight appearances... did not allow a run over 17 2/3 innings pitched... pitched multiple innings in six of eight appearances... tallied 19 strikeouts and issued just five walks... was 1-0 with a save... did not allow any of his 10 inherited runners to score... made season debut on Feb. 14 against Kentucky... earned the win in relief after tossing 1 2/3 scoreless innings... tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings at Minnesota (Feb. 23) with three strikeouts... retired all five batters faced and fanned two in an appearance against Stephen F. Austin (Feb. 26)... struck out three and allowed two hits in 2 2/3 innings against California (Feb. 28)... retired the only two batters faced to pick up the save in Game 2 against Cal (Feb. 29)... pitched two scoreless innings against UT Arlington (March 3)... was brilliant at USC, tossing 5 1/3 scoreless innings with a season-high seven strikeouts... final appearance came against Vanderbilt (March 8). So basically he hasn't given up a run in his last 35 2/3 IP . Could be longer depending on how he finished his Junior year at TCU. I have no idea about his stuff. Probably isn't overwhelming considering he lasted to the 20th round but he does appear at least by his stats to know how to pitch.

Oh I saw baseball reference had Eaton listed because I checked but it doesn't make any sense. I pretty sure all the other players listed as similar to Gio are all pitchers. NVM there was a pitcher named Adam Eaton lol. That's the part I couldn't find.
-
Something does not compute with Adam Eaton listed as similar to Gio. Why they would have a position player listed as similar to a starting pitcher ?

The changes to his stance help so much with executing his plan. He's seeing the ball better so he gets that extra split second to decide to swing or not or locate the pitch and just crush it or even just put the ball in play. With his strength and bat speed just making more contact improves his hitting tremendously. -

You just could have merged the threads and not said anything to me. No need to be defensive about it. I'm just doing my part to keep the place efficient. I think you do a great job as an admin which I certainly wouldn't want to do. -

'Here's 1 way Robert is already making history' -MLB.com Thread by @joesaiditstrue made yesterday. Carry on. Seems to me the article downplays the physical changes he made to his stance but to me they are as important as anything else. "Robert's physical adjustments since coming back from injury are minuscule; he's opened his stance just slightly and that's allowed him to stay on his back leg and take in pitches a hair longer." I'd actually like to see Moncada do the same thing. Moncada already knows the strike zone very well . I think that if he does the same thing and see's the pitch just a hair longer and stays on his back leg he'd cut down on the swing and miss that's so prevalent in his game . Yoan hits the ball hard and he just need to hit the ball more often and he'll get a lot closer to a .500 Slg. % than the .400 he's at now. -
Grandal hit a solo HR and walked, Abreu with 2 hits and 2 RBI to tie Salvy Perez for the RBI lead. Sheets with a double and 2 walks, Leury 2 5 with 2 RBI, Cesar 1 for with a walk and 2 RBI. Good start by Gio 5.1 IP, 1 BB, 4 K ,1 ER Bummer .2 IP, 0 ER, 1 K Kopech back to back games 1.0 IP, 0 R, 1K Wright, 2.0 IP ,1 R, 1H ,1 BB ,1K and lots of people calling for his head in the game thread for apparently no reason. It's not like he's going to be on the post season roster. Sox take 2 of 3 from Rangers All good starts by Lynn, Cease and Lucas G.

July 25th he got his 10th win in his 18th start. Since then he's had 7 starts with 6 no decisions and 1 loss. -
Rodon may need extra rest in the postseason
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Because it's health related doesn't mean he isn't healthy. I got 2 Covid vaccine shots and wear a mask which is health related but I am healthy . They are managing innings because of arm fatigue. Now if you want to say a fatigued arm isn't a healthy arm then sure I'll buy that but I don't think there's anything structurally wrong with his shoulder or elbow... yet. -

IL'd once, extra rest between starts. 12 days in July which coincided with the AS break. A couple of extra days between July 29 start and August 7 start. Then August 7 start and next one was August 26 so 18 days between those starts. He's supposed to start in Detroit after the Texas series so Sept 17-19. Just seems like they want to keep his time between starts to around 9-10 days in the hopes he can pitch more often in the playoffs. -

CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You made that thread because I kept getting in arguments with people when I proclaimed he had to be shut down at some point in the season ! Then you disappeared from the Rodon IL'd thread when he was IL'd in August with shoulder fatigue when people started saying you could see it coming from a mile away and I called them out about the poll results. Of course then it became a war of semantics about some silliness "Should he be shut down" and "do we expect the Sox to shut him down" are two completely different things ." Thanks for the help buddy . -

I agree with you . Everything was above board and I did not see your comment when I wrote my comment disputing that claim by one poster that he isn't healthy. He's getting rest , he's been pitching well and only going 5 innings lately. When he showed signs of fatigue they gave him extended rest in August . Everyone involved wants to see him do well and stay healthy through the post season. It benefits no one for Rodon to be injured. -

CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He's not 100%. What player is? He's been pitching well. And he will pitch. Why do you insist on proclaiming him not healthy ? With all the rest they are trying to keep him healthy and if he wasn't healthy they would prevent him from pitching and so would Rodon and Boras. No one wants to jeopardize his future or future payday by pitching him went he isn't healthy. -

How the fuck is your prediction coming true? They can finish the season with a 10 game winning streak and also win the 1st round. Your lame prediction isn't even close to coming true. -
