As if the Sox are only talking about Semien. Conforto ,Corey Seager, Max Scherzer, Marcus Semien, Kris Bryant, Nick Castellanos, and Rodon are all Boras guys .

That's really only one position and that's relief pitching. It's been Hahn's biggest weakness playing with draft picks , FA's and trades on the most volatile position in baseball but the least expensive . Right now I'm just looking for a sign of anything other than going through the motions. I don't know if the Sox were at the Verlander showcase. I don't know if they show any interest in Andrew Heaney. I know they had no interest in Rodon. Meeting with Boras about Semien is most likely Boras being in the same place at the same time so getting it done as quickly as possible to tell the Sox he wants 8 yrs $200M.

The Sox also want you as a fan to rationalize that the Sox know more than us about his season ending medicals and they were afraid he would accept the QO knowing that he is unhealthy. There's posturing going on with both sides. The Sox dug themselves a hole with the Kimbrel salary and they are at 33 on the 40 man roster. Looks to me like a lot of salary concerns .

I don't think anyone is saying it's proof ,it's just more in line with the side other than yours that the Sox should've extended the QO, Carlos has to prove to other teams he's healthy . It's as simple as that. Some of us think he very well may be healthy enough to have made the offer. A lot of other teams are making offers to guys who didn't throw 99 in their last game or didn't even have a last game in 2021. Sure those guys have better track records than Los. Big deal. The track record you should be concerned about is 2021 when Los looked like the best pitcher in baseball for 1/2 a season and did not end the year on any kind of injured list. That's enough of a track record to make the QO. What is this the little league ? Real MLB teams do it.

Exactly which is why the Sox should've offered Rodon the QO and taken the draft pick when he refused it.

If my pessimistic side really take hold of me what I see coming in the next couple of months is the Sox reducing their 40 man roster even more by doing their best to rid themselves of Keuchel and Kimbrel with guys like Lambert, Foster, Burger , Sheets, Romy Gonzalez, Zack Collins, Zavala, Mendick and Mercedes thus reducing the 40 even more looking to give up more players than they get back reducing payroll until things get resolved with the CBA. Jerry has never been know to be player friendly and if he continues this he will surely not care how it hurts the Sox chances to stay competitive just as he didn't care in 1994. Other teams may end up signing guys like Tepera while the Sox do close to nothing. Supposedly Boras already has a meeting set with the Sox on his free agents according to the last tweet I saw above.

I do too. They should have offered him the QO. I don't see any reason to try to get into Boras' good graces however. I'm not sure there is a way to do that. He's all business. At least offer the QO and get the draft pick. The Sox have to be all business too and get a draft pick when they can. It's not like helping Carlos's market by not attaching the draft pick compensation would get them in Boras' good graces. On the other hand, my pessimistic side is telling me that the Sox were actually being all business and Rodon actually accepting the offer would've meant more guys on the payroll when they are bracing for a strike and probably prefer less players under contract. They just didn't want to take the chance he would accept. Isn't the 40 man roster at somewhere around 33 now when you count their 4 free agents and the guys they outrighted to the minors. I fear that all this was a precursor to how they will do business before and during a work stoppage. Others here thought he'd accept it and I would've been fine with that. Rodon pitched like a true ace for peanuts until he ran out of steam which most of us saw coming because of the limited innings he pitched in the previous 2 years. There's always going to be questions about his health but his last game was encouraging and if he was just fatigued and not truly injured he showed me more than enough to think what he did is sustainable. One year of a true ace for $18.4M isn't much of a gamble financially especially after what he gave the Sox in 2021.

Being one of the older guys I don't think you're being pessimistic at all. Of course I would say that because It's been my biggest fan fear since they started the rebuild and then Covid came along. I've been predicting the disaster scenario of over a year that Covid and a work stoppage and the owner and front office not being able to finish what they started with built in excuses. I've basically called it "Sox Gonna Sox" which just means they have been one of the worst franchises in baseball throughout their history and and I really haven't seen that much lately that encourages me. Of course lots of people have hope that Jerry and Rick H. can pull a Championship out of this mess but I've seen this coming for a while. Now it doesn't make me enjoy following the Sox any less. To me it's just a game by game experience and I tend not to get upset at final results because if that's the case it's pretty discouraging to think of 1 championship in 100 years.

Between those 3 I think one of them has a chance to be very good player at 2nd base for the Sox. Sanchez is 24 and Romy is already 25 with a lot of power and both with good eyes at the dish. Or we see them traded . The off season and the regular season are a total mystery to me now with the chance of a strike.

I don't know if you are serious or being sarcastic. If I thought you were serious I'd give you a "like" but then again if I give you a "like" ,some other admin might check to see who is giving you the like and could tell everyone else.

As an admin aren't politics supposed to be in another forum like Slam and supposed to be kept out of gamethreads . My pushback on ageism was because of ageist comments made by individuals here. Watching a baseball game and starting the NLCS thread was not racist. Surely you can see the difference. I did nothing to provoke the politics in the thread.

Did you enjoy watching the Braves in the 90's before you became woke and you decided that the Braves symbol was racist and so was the tomahawk chop? I guess you woke up when everyone else did . I know my position is a losing one because I am not acting like the woke people who must invade people's enjoyment of a simple game with how hip they have become.

No it still works because I made the NLCS thread and wrote Doders instead of Dodgers and I just changed it.

He only got a brief taste of AA so we will have to see how he does there next year. That level should be his biggest challenge. Yolbert Sanchez ,who played very well in AA after his promotion and Romy Gonzalez will perhaps get a shot and both should be in Spring Training .

Nice write up on Jose Rodriguez who hit a granny yesterday in the AFL. Interview is also on video at the same link with Danny Farquhar doing the interpreting for Jose. When was the last time the Sox had a 20 yr old climb 3 levels in a season and then jump into the AFL ?
