  1. So a trade that never happened is a way to prove the Sox can evaluate talent ? Pretty funny and ironic, that you said this in response to the Corbin Burnes trade to the Sox rumor which you were 100% against in many posts and turned out to be 100% wrong in everything you were afraid of. You and I had a discourse in that thread also and you rebuked everything I said yet I turned out right and you were wrong. Yet the Sox, in your book, get credit for being great talent evaluators when they couldn't make the trade, most likely because they offered too little. Then they turn around and trade the rumored centerpieces of that rumored trade, Madrigal and Heuer, for a relief pitcher Kimbrel who failed miserably .Then trade for a 2nd basement who also failed for one of the only minor league pitchers the Sox had showing any progress during the season. That's some mighty fine talent evaluation right there by the Sox and yourself !
  2. If they sign someone even ,if it's someone like Tepera before Dec. 1st ,I'll perk up a little bit. I still think what we see is trades more than any major FA signing. This place'll be a madhouse if they trade off any more young talent but I don't see how they avoid it.
  3. I'd love to tell you. You are an outstanding contributor to Soxtalk and a very enthusiastic Sox fan. Unfortunately I am in "wait and see mode" and I have already spread enough gloom.
  4. Buehler and Urias had damn good years with the Dodgers maybe not Burnes, Scherzer, Wheeler type years but not far off either.
  5. He could've said nothing about going after him but he elected to say that . He wasn't forced. So they did a favor to Boras and then he returns the favor and says fuck you to that favor when he said Rodon wouldn't have signed a QO ? Sounds preposterous. Fegan may be reliable but if you're talking about Nightengale since when is he a beacon of truth when it comes to the Sox ?
  6. He didn't have to throw in the part about him potentially coming back but he did. He said Boras knows that. Sounds to me like they have other plans and if they don't work out they could go after Rodon again.
  7. Hahn said "we made the assessment based on everything we know, which includes our needs and our other targets, that that wasn't an offer we were comfortable making at this time." He also said "We have not ruled out him returning," Hahn said. "He knows that. Scott knows that. We'll see how his market unfolds and what the options are for us over the coming months.
  8. Ask Hahn. It's my opinion. You got yours I got mine. Last I saw he threw 99 in the Sox last game of the season. Would Rodon start that playoff game if there was anything wrong with him ? Would the Sox start him in a do or die game if he was injured ? I think I'm closer to the truth than you are. You share the medicals that say he is damaged goods.
  9. 13-1 rejected but some how Rodon would 've accepted it in Never, Neverland.
  10. Be who you must That's a part of the plan Await your arrival With simple survival and One day, we'll all understand One day, we'll all understand One day, we'll all understand
  11. I wouldn't be thrilled with a Verlander signing but they do need pitching but if Rodon does better for less money . Woo boy what a shit show that will be.
  12. How great can a track record really be when 3 of the last 5 years he didn't pitch over 30 innings ? Sounds like a sure fire 21M contract to me. Rodon pitched like an ace for 130 innings in 2021. Last time Noah pitched significant innings was 2018. OK 2019 but he wasn't an ace by any stretch then missed the following 2 years.
  13. But but the Sox have a plan . It's fool proof.
  14. I guess we shall see how that plan works out . That trade deadline and LaRussa plans weren't really really stupid at all.
  15. If Scherzer doesn't end up on a west coast team I'd be surprised.
  16. Wasn't the 2nd half of the season expected from a guy who barely pitched the last 2 years. When you factor in Verlander's age along with him barely pitching the last 2 years wouldn't you expect around the same for him ? Maybe you would expect more from Verlander. After all he had 200+ innings in 2018 and 2019 . But how fast can a 39 yr old bounce back from 2 years off ? Rodon pitched 130 innings of ace quality . And with 130 innings under his belt, if healthy, wouldn't you expect more innings next year . It's an interesting question on who people would expect a better year from or who would provide better value or survive long enough to pitch in the post season Verlander or Rodon.
  17. In the way I mentioned and the poster I agreed with it does seem odd. In the way you stated it doesn't. But if it's Jerry's MO can you name another time he paid top dollar for an ancient starting pitcher who hasn't pitched in 2 years.
  18. I hope you are right. I want to have some of those posts that didn't age well. But as usual with any rumor it doesn't move me until it's official.
  19. Does seem odd. Turns 39 in Feb. Basically same status as Rodon was when Sox signed him with 6 IP in last 2 years. Rodon never came close to the track record of JV but then again he was 11 years younger. Would be hard to justify signing JV if he cant appear in the post season for the kind of money he'll get.
  20. They trusted it enough to sign him for $3M and got a steal. Maybe that means he put in the work when his back was against the wall or maybe it means he just finally found something that worked for him .
  21. Lots of teams may jack up price otherwise I'd say 1 yr at about Noah's rate . Now I'll guess 2/55M . I haven't seen what the pros say about it. Any guesses ?
  22. I think the cart is before the horse. You should pass a physical first then comes the contract offer. Why go through negotiations only to have that time wasted because you can't pass a physical. Physicals are usually just a formality but in a guy like Syndergaard's case I don't think so.
  23. I wonder if this sort of thing is a loophole that is going to be closed. Mets give him the QO but if he cant pass a physical for more money in November he has a payday to fall back on . If have a hard time figuring out why a team can't get medicals or require passing a medical evaluation before they are signed. No one wants to sign damaged goods. This would apply to every player but especially players coming off a lot of lost time due to injuries like Noah , Verlander and even Rodon .
  24. I saw I got a laugh emoji for this so I had to check if Conforto signed with the Sox. No he didn't . So I laugh at your laugh emoji.
