  1. I think they did see him as a starter and a high end starter. That's why they took him in the draft when they did. You don't pick a guy that high to be a reliever. Maybe he can still throw 101, maybe not. That's not the point. The point is his development. He's good enough now to get a lot of guys out throwing 97 and with his slider but he has to develop his secondary pitches to be better as a starter and get better command. Right now with 2 pitches he is still good enough to be one of the Sox best relievers. He's a work in progress as a starter by relieving. He will probably follow the same plan next year as Kopech is doing this year. The only thing that can stop that is arm problems which might be the main reason why he's dialed it back. The only other reason would be he just can't do it any more .But even if he can I highly doubt he or the Sox are convinced that throwing 100+ is in his or the teams long term best interest .
  2. Now I know why they lost !
  3. Things have a way of working out when there are innings to be gained through injury and professional baseball people involved who do those things for a living. Kopech isn't going to go 200 innings next year but if you can get him to somewhere over 125 that will be good progress. Katz and the Sox are on top of it.
  4. All we can do is be patient and see what happens at the deadline and with our guys coming back. It's helpful they can dick around looking for internal options 1st with such a big lead. No one actually thinks Reylo is going to be an answer but if he looks competent for 2 weeks they can see if he's a piece for the rest of the year or trade him if there is anyone interested. We are all aware that the lineup now isn't ideal but so far the scrubs have made it work. Just have to hope they can keep the big lead in the division until reinforcements arrive or the pixie dust wears off.
  5. Might as well just say 3-9 in the order had a horrible game.
  6. What exactly does running him out there mean ? I hope you mean after you build up his arm again to the point he an pitch more than 4 innings and while doing that you still have to manage his inning since he hadn't pitched in 2 years but sure for you personally you don't have to worry about that stuff.
  7. If you are setting the bar really high with a guy barely removed from college pitching 6 innings while throwing 101 your expectations are too high. All young pitchers struggles . Every single one of them.
  8. A silver lining for a game with Lopez.
  9. Kind of a long way to go to make that assessment. Cease has been healthy and in the rotation all year. Kopech is back to 1 inning appearances after his injury.
  10. I think it's safe to say you can look good in a small sample size and also look bad in a small sample size. Put them both together and you still have small sample size.
  11. We needed 2 already. Do you really trust Marshall or Heuer or have seen enough of Burr to say he is one of the answers ?
  12. Ok Lopez is in you got your wish.
  13. Who is 100% dominant ? That would be perfection and no one is that. Hope that's not what you are expecting.
  14. Heuer was the 1st reliever in . Kopech and Crichet cannot pitch in every game either ahead or behind and La Russa prefers to use them when ahead most of the time. He know's we don't have the bats tp cpme from behind that often.
  15. And the rest of the BP is faring much better in high leverage ?
  16. Not much choice when no ones pitches well except Kopech, Hendrick and Crochet.
  17. That's always how it is with Bummer. Choppers that bounce over people's heads, little dribblers , seeing eyes hits and he doesn't help his cause by being wild. Houston's been on the verge of breaking this game open for the last few innings.
  18. 2nd HR for Sox in 2nd Game . Had one yesterday too.
  19. There will never be a better time to see if he can be useful. !. Coming off a good start 2. Diminishing team control 3. 8 games up 4. Need to save arms in the 2nd half 5.Looking for a guy who can do long relief 6. Gives you more trade options 7. Gets to work with Katz again. 8. Double header upcoming Monday
  20. There hasn't been much talk about the Sox making a deal with the Marlins. Marlins GM Kim Ng started off with the White Sox. She may proceed cautiously since this will be her 1st Trade Deadline and has to make an impression that she won't be a pushover.
  21. Or Sheets since is he the Ofer. Probably both eventually .
  22. I'm hoping this post doesn't age well. It's hard to imagine anything significant getting done until maybe the 25th of July. 10 more days of hell looking for something orange on my screen that isn't just speculation.
