  1. Need to finish off this game with a win so I can reward myself with some good Pogues music.
  2. Way to go Cordy. Smack that crap down the middle with authority
  3. I actually like when everyone complains about the lineup because it usually somehow works and we all look like idiots. Beside we all know we lose most games because of pitching.
  4. Only thing I can figure is stacking the top of the lineup with lefties which is a bit different from his norm. But why can't Leury be played at 2nd base ? Maybe a rest but he's been arguably the Sox 3rd or 4th best player. Based On WAR he's tied with Moncada for 2nd on the team with .9 . Anderson near the bottom maybe he wants more production down there.
  5. Not really a dumpster dive. Sox did trade a low level minor leaguer and intl. money for his $9M salary and 1 year of service. Hopefully ( I say that a lot ) this last game is him regressing positively.
  6. And why would I mention it.? Not a single person reacted to the post about Tilson hitting .280 and 40 steals except to say he wouldn't hit .280 and steal 40. I proved it's possible to hit .280 and also said the 40 steals was a reach. I did not lie .I did not exaggerate. I mentioned OBP because it's tied to batting average.I just used what he had already done in his limited ML career You also take every opportunity to gloat about Hahn's acquisitions sucking. You said something like 2 of 10 being good so far. Herrera had a bad outing because of back problems and his ERA jumped well into the 5's. Before that it was 2.75 thereabouts . Baneulos same thing. .One bad inning in a small sample size does not denote how he has done the rest of the season. Most everyone was pretty pleased with him. But not you. You took that 1 outing and turned it into "there's another Hahn acquisition that sucks." You should also make a separate category that eliminates any dumpsters dives from those acquisitions because you know most of those are going to suck. Can't even include Santana because the Sox got out of him very cheaply. The Manny friends and family plan might have been responsible for the acquisitions of Nova, Colome Alonso and Jay though the Sox would never admit that. Yes the Sox needed an innings eater and also relieve pitchers . Just coincidence that those 4 found their way to the Sox this off season. ? We might never know but it sure is suspicious.
  7. Now I guess you know why people say the same about you. Overly negative or overly positive makes people wonder. I like overly positive better. I don't think batting . 280 is a reach. Last year he had 120 PA and hit .264 with a .331 OBP with the Sox. 40 steals is more of a reach. Very few nowadays steal 40. The stolen base is mostly out of vogue. In his Sox career he is 31 for 112 . That's .277 . OBP is .341 .
  8. I voted all the position players and no relievers. I know it aint' happenin' but if we don't believe in them no one else will. Vote early and often.
  9. Moral of the story . Keep El Pantera in CF. Fun Facts : El Pantera (In English, The Panther) is a Mexican television series released by Canal 5. It is based on a comic book of the same name. It narrates the life of Gervasio, a young man who fights crime in Mexico City. The title role is performed by Luis Roberto Guzmán. Notice the actor's name who plays the Panther
  10. Nice team win,many contributors. Moncada HR ,double, 4 RBI, McCann HR, Leury Garcia 3 hits, Mr.Anderson 2 hits, 2 RBI a SB, Tilson season debut 2 hit, 2 R, Nova 7 IP 1 ER, 5 K, 1BB.
  11. It's a baseball players funny way of saying I need to be stronger and that warning track fly ball becomes a HR
  12. Surprised no one has the twitter exchange between Bauer and Timmy in the thread.
  13. I gave you a like for all that you said besides your 1st sentence. The stuff might be there for him to be a major leaguer but we all know he has a long road to hoe to actually reach the majors. Would be a huge boost to get him being dominant again as a starter but if he can reach the show as a reliever that's OK too.
  14. I think I said it last year and I know I said it this year. There has to be a revolving door. Bodies in , bodies out like a morgue. Then you hope someone rises from the ashes.
  15. I know it's a message board so we live in the moment, in the here and now. And right now it's bleak. Nothing we can do about it. Gripe all you want about the future or the current suckage . That's you right and without it we have no message board. Just remember I will be here for as long as I can to point out that all is not doom and gloom . Granted it's a lot of gloom and doom and we as fans expect competent management. I don't mind being that guy who knows there are many reasons to complain and will complain myself , but overall I'm mostly like , let it play out. If we end up with no World Series win in the next 6 years maybe the team is still playing good ball after that. I don't know , I don't have a clue how things will be. It's like making a prediction on the Sox record after 30 games. I was pretty close 1 game off. In that prediction I know the roster I know the talent I know the schedule and try to look at it without prejudice . But what do you know about who is going to be here in a year ,2 years, 3 ,4 ,5 ,6 ? Not a whole hell of a lot. Maybe Jerry dies, maybe Hahn and Kenny are gone. I'm not saying lower your standards, just learn to live with the results because there's not a damn thing you can do about them. We all have standards on what to expect from a wife, a girlfriend, our friends ,our jobs and we have some degree of control over those things . Without any control makes no sense to me to stay upset for very long or howl at the moon too often. Que será, será Whatever will be, will be The future's not ours to see Que será, será
  16. That's just tunnel vision . I know we all don't think the Sox can sign effective free agents but they can. It isn't that hard. JD Martinez a few years ago was an easy choice when the Red Sox were the only ones who wanted him. They can also make trades. There is no specific window until we see what everyone is capable of. You seem to be worried some guys may reach FA before the newer arrivals get good. Too far down the road to care. You know you can always trade major league quality for other major league quality players or major league ready talent. You could be right but what's the sense of worrying ? It's the Sox. You're a fan of one of the worst franchises in baseball history. You know the chances of a successful rebuild resulting in a World Series win are scarce anyway. Is your goal to show everyone you are smarter than people like me, who are just hopeful ,for predicting the obvious ? For the Sox, 4 or 5 winning seasons in a row is a coup . 4 or 5 playoffs appearances in a 5 or 7 year period is likely beyond our grasp. I've lived to see the Bears win a Superbowl, the Bulls 6 championships, the Blackhawks 3 Stanley Cups and a White Sox World Series Winner. I actually feel blessed by all that.
  17. Have to agree here. Pitching is without a doubt a disaster now. Abreu is still the best hitter on the team. Might move him if you can get something good for him but the definition of good seems to be a top 100 prospect around here and maybe not even that. Maybe the Sox can get a major leaguer for him from someone who has some depth at a position the Sox have a need. Houston ,Boston , Seattle, Minnesota, Angels, Colorado seem like they need help at 1st .They might still need it come trade deadline.
  18. They had won 3 in row and 8 of last 12 so they were turning it around before the Sox series.
  19. You could also probably find a few guys like Whit Merrifield who didn't even sniff the majors until a bit older (27 for Merrifield) Since then he seems to be a 4/5 WAR guy. Obviously guys like that do not dominate for as long as true young talent but they have high value nevertheless.
  20. I'm not sure there are that many who refuse to alter the timeline. Everyone recognizes his upside. But everyone else who wants to push him also have to recognize because of injuries he still has very little experience. I mean look at you saying he's raking in AA . Yes he is but it's an ultra small sample size. There really no need to have him in Chicago this year unless you prefer him to get his feet wet to be more prepared for 2020 in a non competitive year at the expense of the years of control.
  21. Apparently so. Plenty of time to gloat over your predictions of failure at the end of the year and even then ( if they continue to struggle ) they will still be in the Sox top prospects lists.
