  1. Don't forget when Preller was investing in Latin America that Hahn's recent response to that was drafting and concentrating on developing RELIEF PITCHERS . You know those guys who vary wildly from year to year in performance and are available year in and year out for fairly cheap.
  2. The obligations on contracts for next year is ridiculously low. The Sox could easily add $100M in contracts for next year alone. Will they ? 10 $10M , 8 12.5M , 6 $16.6M, 5 $20M, 4 $25M , 3 $33M contracts or some combination of these.
  3. We need a catchy phrase for this disaster like The White Flag Trade, The Machado Disaster ? The Machado Catastrophe ? Calamity Manny ? The Manny Machado Misadventure (Mishap) ? Front Office Flop ?
  4. I just had a revelation. Ron is sacrificing himself and trying to unite us all to make us all realize we still love the White Sox by making himself and the Cubs the enemy and not the Sox front office. Thank you Ron . Your sacrifice and humility has not gone unnoticed.
  5. Nah when you temper your expectations you get used to disappointment and get over it quicker . No one died here and we didn't catch a spouse cheating on us. We all vented. I vented pretty good . Time to move on.
  6. I don't think now is the time to give up hope. Yes it sucks and it's always an uphill battle given that every year you battle 29 other teams and our own front office. Maybe Moncada becomes a smash hit at third (doubtful). The Sox have this year to find out some things. Hopefully less injuries to prospects and more linear development of others in the minors and our young big leaguers. Management won't stop trying and we can hope they stop failing . We cannot sulk forever. It's OK to be disappointed or sad or even angry but if you are to continue being Sox fans then you will continue to want them to win, maybe not with all your heart for now. But if they do manage to sign a premium FA or two and we see some progress they will start to capture your full heart again and you will be there rooting for them to win in the playoffs. So we might as well get over it and get back on the horse .
  7. Rendon's last 2 years have been MVP quality. but he'll be 30 for the 2020 season so the Sox might want to put incentives in 3 years of a six year deal or might not even offer 6 years .
  8. Yes it did and later on Belle said he made a mistake not staying with the White Sox.
  9. Of course they don't . I didn't see any person mention it so apologies if someone did. When the Sox signed Albert Belle to the richest contract in baseball history he got out of it from an opt out.
  10. Just make the new banner with the participation trophy on top of a seat at the kids table.
  11. We can't always control what our kids end up liking. Yes my father was a Sox fan so I became one. But when I had kids I tried to get my son to become one at an early age. He showed a lot of athletic ability early on but living in California made it much harder . He ended up liking the Blue Jays because I watched them win the World Series way back when because he was a kid and probably thought the little birds were cute. But he never became a big fan of baseball or any sport because he liked video games much more, Divorcing didn't help either especially when his mother moved both my kids to Arizona and I became less of an influence on him.
  12. Oh, I'm so blind, oh, I'm blind I wasted time wasted, wasted, wasted time Walkin' on the wire, high wire But I must let the show go on Edit: I know I could've used PInk Floyds or Queens versions of their own The SHow Must Go On songs ,all great songs ,but I chose Three Dog Night for the Circus Music along with those particular lyrics.
  13. Keep me informed about that please. I might be retiring in a year or so. So cal is too expensive to live here and state taxes ridiculous . Will only be for the rich . the working poor or the homeless soon.
  14. You’ve got to sing like you don’t need the money Love like you’ll never get hurt You’ve got to dance like nobody’s watchin’ It’s gotta come from the heart if you want it to work.
  15. I'm not using alcohol I'm listening to the best rock music from the last 50 years that i have on itunes. My favorites tunes for extended hours always works for me along with singing and dancing to them . Thank God no one is listening or watching.
  16. Oh there you are. I 've brought up that diminished skills clause a couple of times already. Nice bag and glad you're ok .
  17. Has ChicagoWhiteSox ( the poster who was the most positive about signing Manny) said anything yet since the announcement of the Padres getting Manny ? I've read through a lot of posts and haven't seen anything from him. I'm seriously worried about him.
  18. I was thinking the same but I decided it is an overreaction, I mean it COULD be if the rebuild fails but they still have a lot of talent in the organization . Now more than ever you have to try for whales again but we have 2019 to see how Eloy Cease Dunning and all the young OFer's. relievers and catchers do.
  19. Yea imagine putting future incentive clauses in a 29 or 30 year (Arenado, Rendon etc ) old FA's contract. You either are serious about getting and paying for the best or you are not. What you don't do is dick around with those incentive clauses knowing full well they are not in the players best interest to accept those.
  20. Um no he needed to play baseball good and contribute to a winning team. Eloy is going to be the face because he appears to be a nice thoughtful and funny kid.
  21. i'M ACTUALLY NOT UPSET AT ALL ! Seriously I'm not. This is the dispassionate reality of the situation and has been for a while. Once in a while we get thrown a bone and we all salivate thinking things have changed but we never get thrown continuance bones. Sustained success ? Please right now all the talk is just blah blah ,blah blah blah, blah, blah blah blah.
