Lambert and Dunning at 100%/pain free
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to southsider2k5's topic in FutureSox Board
Somehow I feel like this should be in the Pale Hose section since many times people don't look at Future Sox after the season ends and it's good news foe the franchise. -
That's what happens when the opponent isn't considered the enemy.
-
Arenado maybe could've sold that more. Like try to break free of the hug forcefully and bitterly complain he was prevented from throwing.
-
Rockies can't keep giving the Cubs chances to walk it off. It's gonna happen .
-
So looks like we are posting on this game in 2 different threads ?
-
Strange take considering you can't play a ball you can't see or is stuck somewhere.
-
Those 1st 2 pitches to Story with a man on 3rd and 1 out were balls and called strikes. If not for the ump Rox could be up 2-0 . Just bad umpiring not a conspiracy.

Hey I get it hot takes are your thing but please let them make some sort of sense. He's a trainer they have a training staff. They have strength and conditioning coaches. I don't even see how you can blame a trainer if some gets hit by a pitch or slides into a base and breaks a hand or ankle. Some of these guys are unique physical specimens with extraordinary muscle mass much of the time built through weight training which might not take into account the true hereditary nature of what their body can tolerate. Pitching in and of itself is an unnatural motion for a human being. Its far more natural to throw underhanded. You can't prevent pitching injuries when just the act of pitching is against the natural flow of body movement. Maybe if you ever took the time to say which injuries you think that could have been prevented you might make some sense but you don't dare do that since ptatc might shoot you down. If you are not a medical professional throwing baseless accusations around is not just a hot take its an idiotic take.

Yep and I already broke down the Cubs and Astro's draft picks from 2011-2015 in the 99 losses or fewer goal thread.. Both teams produced a lot of good to great players from the draft in those years. Still to be determined but doesn't look we we will see the same type of results from the draft. I have no idea about talent from international youngsters but with Aldolfo and Roberts we'll have to see if they can stay healthy and start developing. Altuve came very cheaply to the Astro's that way. Even with the Aiken situation the Astro's turned that into Bregman so really they just traded themselves a #1 for a # 2 in the next draft and took another great position player. With Correa they passed on Buxton when Correa agreed to go under slot and then used the saved money to pick McCullers as a supplemental 1st rounder. Anyway that's all in this article about how they put together their WS winning team. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/world-series-2017-how-the-al-champion-houston-astros-built-their-roster/

Have to agree with you here. Just wish he had done more like it. I expect a lot of trades and roster movement this winter.

Garneau removed from 40 man roster

1 down 20+ to go. -
That last sentence you said was my whole point. We are just not discovering enough talent be it trades or the draft so far But we seem to be very good at hanging onto our wonderful ML talent to evaluate them.

This year's goal: 99 losses (or fewer)

Cubs 1st round draft picks from 2011-2015 : Baez #9 , Almora #6 , Bryant #2 , Schwarber #4, Happ #9 Astro's 1st rounders 2011-2015 : Springer #11 , Correa #1 , Mark Appel #1, Brady Aiken #1 , Alex Bregman #2 and Kyle Tucker #5 both in 2015 Looks like the Cubs picks are more in the Sox range but they picked all position players in those years and everyone of them has made significant contributions. The Astro's had 3 # 1's and 2 of the top 5 in 2015. What is the trend here with 2 World Champs ? They both had the most success drafting position players who turned into superstars or very high quality players. Only 2 pitchers taken by both teams both #1's by the Astros and both bombed, Will the Sox end up with similar draft results ? As of now it doesn't look that way. Jake Burger taken at #11 like Springer was. Zack Collins taken at #10 , Baez #9 . Happ at #9 Fulmer at #8 in the same draft year. Maybe Madrigal or this years pick end up good, Even if you throw in the kids we got in trades do we have a Correa, Springer, Baez or Bryant or Bregman among them ? We will see. -
I frankly don't care who goes and who stays. I am not worried nor do I care if anyone becomes better with another team. The Brewers lost Khris Davis and Scooter Gennett and look where they are. The A's and Tampa Bay make a ton of trades and somehow they survive and even strive. Just show some moxie or balls or w/e you want to call it and flip them all . I don't care how crowded it gets at AA/AAAA .Get some defenders , see if the Twins will deal Byron Buxton. The Sox stink at their 2 highest levels. Trade Castillo, Narvaez, Smith,Palka, Davidson, Abreu, Rodon, Avi Engel, Delmonico, Cordell, Tilson ,Sanchez ,Leury and whoever from AAA. ( Guererro , Stephens, Adams Danish) Trade the 24-27 yr olds for 22-24 yr olds. Don't try to win trades when you trade trash just focus on decent defenders who might surprise you with the bat or guys who make better contact. Trade quantity for quality. Maybe someone will be dumb enough to trade 1 good player for 3 of our bums if they want some depth.

You keep saying Altuve is on roids and no one says anything. So what makes you say that ? I know you don't have any proof so why hasn't he been busted ? Is the MLB drug policy a sham ? Do they overlook superstars and just bust guys like Castillo . How does Cano get busted then? Are other drugs easier to catch than steriods ? Are the people who produce the steroids better at masking them than MLB is at finding the abusers ?
-
They also got some luck with Aguilar (waiver claim ) and Thames. Or is that just good scouting ? Sox in a rebuild can't seem to find hidden gems as well as other teams. I haven't done a deep dive on this subject but guys like Muncy and Taylor with the Dodgers and Mikolas with the Cards and has to be some Oakland A's in there. They reamed the Brewers in the Khris Davis trade a few years ago. Scooter Gennett was a another waiver claim for the Reds also from the Brewers. Joey Wendle and Mallex Smith are parts of the revolving door of players that came to Tampa Bay in trades.

Yelich knocks in 1st run of the game and steals second,
-
Brewers have been great their last 30 games and Yelich has been unreal for those 30 and the 2nd half putting up huge numbers. Right now he's a legend in Milwaukee. How Yelich does this game may determine their fate.

Teams don't offer them. Players negotiate for them. Player options if they have a few spectacular years and baseball inflation goes up and voila you're a FA free again if you want to be for even more money. . 2nd year seems unlikely but 3rd and 4th year seems pretty likely in a young superstar's contract. If you want me then give me the option of making more money elsewhere in a few years. -
Sox have "flexibility" to add "long term pieces"
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This x100000. One day I was writing about the death of the tank and now I feel like its the death of the rebuild. At the time I was writing about the death of the tank Kopech came up. Rodon , Giolito and Lopez were coming around and the Sox were playing .500 ball for a long stretch.all with a lineup that wasn't very good offensively and defensively. Now Kopech is out for a year Rodon and Giolito have sucked lately and the whole team looks tired and as uninspired we we all do here.
