Moncada has had 1/2 season of success Kopech nothing except a big injury. Madrigal has accomplished nothing yet. We all want him to but he doesn't belong on a list of accomplishments. Again many here could've picked the 4th pick in the draft last year. Eloy and Cease .Another 2 that have accomplished nothing so far. Bummer a relief pitcher with no sustain success. Stellar example. Giolito. His failures outweighs his success so far. Less than 1/2 a season of a good baseball career. Marshall another relief pitcher who has failed most of his career and with less than half a season of a good baseball career. Tilson , really ? You want to use a career minor league guy as an example of Hahn success stories ? The only thing Tilson has been good at is being injured. Harsh I know but unfortunately true. That leaves Abreu and Anderson on your 14 player list of Hahn accomplishments. I will give you these 2 as having some sustained success but even last year there were some on this board suggesting Anderson was nothing special. Let me also remind you and you can also use this to your advantage , that Hahn has many talent evaluators under him . Doing the legwork, making recommendations. He also has the owner over him controlling the purse strings. SO perhaps the best I can say about Hahn is that the right people below him may not be the best and the guy above him might not be the guy the Sox need to spend lavishly. Perhaps it is Reinsdorfs loyalty that hampers Hahn on his acquisitions and from hiring the people Hahn himself may desire but might not be able to get due to Reinsdorfs loyalty to his employees or his loyalty to his investors. Then there are the 2 guys you just said we should cut ties with , Alonso and Jay. Since you like to use players acquired to use as a gauge to message success then didn't Hahn acquire those 2 in a a experiment that failed miserably ? DId Hahn not approve of signing Eloy's brother in an attempt to appease Eloy and buy his loyalty ? Maybe Enoy is a player? Doubtful. There are also many on this board capable of picking the right free agents to sign and have demonstrated in in their posting history even if that is difficult to prove. Lip is a Sox historian and author. He has forgotten more about the Sox than most of us know. He's has read and wrote about it for many years. He knows failure all too well when he sees it. Oh I forgot McCann. Mosty below average production for McCann too in his Detroit career.. Of course as a GM you need some luck . So far McCann is 1/2 a season of luck falling into Hahn's lap. Mostly picked because all other cheap FA catchers were ancient.

Avi is actually very fast. He's huge like a linebacker and maybe he starts off slow but once he gets it in gear he can really move. In that 2017 season he had over 20 infield hits, many of them coming on routine plays where the SS took his sweet time and all of a sudden looked up to throw and there was AVi beating the throw. He hustles all the time, probably why he gets a bum knee and hamstring problems. Probably need to stretch those hammy's more than he does.

Have you looked at Scooter Gennett's stats ? I know he is primarily a 2nd baseman but he has also played 3rd and the OF in LF and RF . He has some pop. He would be a nice alternative if we can't get Rendon and might even play a decent RF though I have no idea. Also could just use him primarily at 2nd. Rather him than Madrigal and Madrigal could be used as a trade piece if he shows more on his way up. Or if he shows enough you can trade Gennett. You won't see any 2019 stats for Gennett because he's been out all year.

I expected this kind of response, but MLBtraderumors makes a strong case that he might be every bit as valuable as Castellano. Ozuna or Puig. Probably would come cheaper too than any of those guys.

I know what you mean about Avi. I vehemently argued 2019 could be a breakout better than 2017 because of the power he showed last year even while fighting the bum knee. I also noticed that his fielding is better leading to that higher fWAR .I was thinking that the dome in Tampa Bay might be responsible for that. No wet grass and surer footing in a dome while he was also getting better defensively the last few years. I don't blame the Sox for non tendering him because of injuries and unfulfilled potential but I also thought he was worthy of a re-sign at a lower rate than what his arbitration numbers would 've been much like how TB did it with incentives. In light of what the Sox paid John Jay, not re-signing Avi is even more mind boggling. Skip Jay, give Avi the $4M add some incentives and voila you had Avi for 2019. John Jay won't put up 1.7 WAR for the rest of his career . That's what Avi is at for less than half a season. Anyway Garcia is a FA in 2020 and MLBtraderumors has an article about Avi and compares him to Ozuna, Castellanos and Puig since all are FA's in 2020.
