You really don't bunt when the count is no balls and 2 strikes , if you foul off the bunt attempt it is strike 3. What he needed to do was after the 1st pitch right down the middle realize how badly the pitcher had been throwing and take the 2nd pitch. Have to have a brain in baseball and be aware of the situation and how things have unfolded.

Oh Leury Keller was all over the place, Either he was missing badly or throwing it right done the middle. Can't K on 3 pitches there. 1st one was right down the middle after 2 of them just like that to Engel , then 2 balls Leury swung at.

I keep looking for the :predict the record after 30 games" thread but I can't find it. I want to say to those who predicted disaster records to know they were wrong the second the Sox pass the predicted wins.

Help him out tell him when talking about a 5 tool player they are talking about. Arm, speed. fielding, hit for average and hit for power.Educate the ignorant. Berating doesn't teach him anything. Arm and speed are usually natural gifts whereas fielding, hitting for average ,and power can be developed.

You know like in football we are all armchair QB's , In a minor league threads many are armchair scouts and coaches .Comes with the territory and it isn't going to change. It's great we're all excited about the way he's hitting but adjustments from the pitchers will be forthcoming in the next 550 or so AB's of this season. Stay calm and be the you of the 1st post more often. When Konerko learned not too be too hard on himself he became a better player . As fans we could all learn to not be as hard on our team especially in light of the fact there's a lot of players coming and going during a rebuild. Criticism is warranted when players or management establishes a track record but all the SSSS BS is analyzing baseball like it's football and success at baseball is incredible harder.

No people b****ed about everyone who wasn't Machado even though someone had to be brought in to eat innings and we did need good reliable BP pieces. All off season all I heard was Nova was a waste, we could get better cheaper innings eaters for 1 year and when I challenged anyone to tell me of better cheaper innings eaters who we could keep for only a year all I got was multiple posters giving me names of 2018 injured pitchers over and over again like they had no idea the definition of such a self explanatory term as innings eater.If Colome Herrera and Nova was not wasted money who exactly does that leave as wasted money ? ALonso and Jay of course but we all knew going in that those moves would suck if we didnt get Manny and all would be right with the world if we did.

Intelligent fans also realize that salaries are on a year to year basis. Saving money this year does not mean we can spend more next year. Otherwise since this is year 3 of the rebuild the Sox could afford to pay for better players as you suggest. But they haven't; Why ? Because we are rebuilding and better players may not fit the contention window as I have been told often enough when I wanted JD Martinez last year or Mike Moustaskas who was ridiculously inexpensive who got flipped for some decent guys. I am all for getting better players but since we are rebuilding and apparently tanking this year getting good players now only hurts draft position . I hated it just as much as you that we didn't get Machado or Harper however unlike you I see the value in guys like Colome Herrera Nova and McCann . Alonso and Jay are a whole other story since their main purpose was luring Machado and we all knew going in if we ended up with Machado they were fine and if not it was a disaster. Are not Colome and Herrera better players ? Yet you continue to call them a waste. I don't see how on one hand you call them a waste and yet you want better players. Have your cake and eat it too I I guess and contradict yourself.

Yep so you would have to trade him or eat the cost of his salary. After all the bellyaching around here about all the money wasted for scrubs n now we're just going to absorb Castillo's salary ? Not a chance especially when he can turn his season around and maybe net a lottery ticket or maybe even some Intl. money if someone gets hurt on another team .

Because there's a small chance he starts doing better and is actually movable or an injury occurs on another team. I tend to believe the reports Swihart isn't well regarded by pitchers . I just don't want the young pitchers dealing with that when that's the reason Narvaez is gone. You may not like Castillo's defense but pitch framing is a totally inconsistent stat and base stealing stats are dependent to variable degrees on the pitchers. While we all saw and complained about Narvaez' defense I didn't hear much about Castillo being so bad once he came back from his suspension. The Sox are not as likely to absorb his salary as you are I'm sure.

Do I have to be so specific ? If he's not catching at AAA then he's on the ML roster . Who do you replace ? Trade Castillo now ? You expect any takers the way he is currently hitting and to absorb the rest of his salary ? McCann is playing well for now and Rodon and others seems to like him.

What do you propose ? Seby and Collins are at AAA where do you put Swihart ?
