Sheets is a big strong guy who I hope can swing the bat with some power eventually and if not it's not like there is any shortage of 1st base types be it Collins, Eloy or even Burger eventually. Sheets has moved from Rookie ball to AA in barely over 2 seasons . To me that's decent progress. Power is just another step on the development ladder.

And when you say those types of players it's as if they already are who they will be and that's my whole point. While it's also a message board so we message but so much SSS outlooks and yet we all abhor SSS supposedly. But I am happy we can do all this messaging and remain friendly while doing it. You were also worried about Roberts power too if I recall. I'm not sure ,while being optimistic on prospects, that I get disappointed when they fail. It's just the nature of the game. If I am wrong for liking Rutherford , Madrigal and Sheets for their ability to spray the ball around I don't mind being wrong. I don't see them play so I don't have much to go on. Power often comes later and I don't worry about such things, I know young guys get bigger and stronger and part of development is also developing your body .

Why would I weep ? I have been as vocal, if not more so, of Hahn's tenure as anyone . He's terrible and he isn't helped by the owner. Part of Balta's argument is that another thing that makes Hahn horrible is he can't convince Reinsdorf to spend money. Hahn as much chance to convince Reinsdorf to spend money as I do to convince you to lighten up. Reinsdorf has signed 1 free agent to a big contract and that was Albert Belle and it wasn't a GM who convinced him. It was all Reinsdorf . Everyone else has been B level free agents at best. Reinsdorf will give $50-60M to unproven talent (Abreu/Robert) sure, but he knows he will have them a long time. Even the Belle contract Reinsdorf had a way out of it. Machado ? "All he had to do is stay healthy" and voila $350M but yet couldn't guarantee $300 . He has a real hard time just giving money to guys who might actually hurt the team ( or his pocketbook) financially down the line due to injury and non performance no matter how young and studly that player appears (Machado/Harper).
