  1. Yea not a lot of real strong right handed hitters in that lineup even with a lefty on the bump.
  2. I can't remember how good of a fielder Longoria was back when he signed his extension or how high his injury risk was. Being a corner OF or even a future 1st baseman and his injury history I'm not sure I'd be putting Jimenez in Longoria's class. But its probably the closest you can get except for Kingery who is also an infielder.
  3. All were a win as far as I'm concerned but none were still in the minors when extended . They still gotta show that ability up here before I'd approach them about being extended. Kingery isn't exactly tearing up baseball as of yet. Longoria signed after 6 games in the majors and management won that deal .Tons of older free agents or international free agents bust management loses. Jonathan Singleton signed 5 yrs $10M players hated it but, guess what ,Singleton won and you could also say management won because whats $10M to them ? it's all about cost certainty where a player can win if he ends up sucking or hurt and management isn't paying huge dollars for old free agents nor big bucks for when a promising kid gets hurt or just never lives up to his potential.
  4. Sure but I never said that they get a lot of men of base because that would go against the whole lack of walks and hit tool thing. It was meant more in the context of the offense being bad and the guys they actually do get on base aren't getting home often enough to have big innings . We're on the exact same page . They have bad hitters and guys that don't walk enough and also play crap defense and many of them will be gone soon enough.
  5. But none of those guys were still in the minors when they extended them and an argument can be made that they jumped the gun on Anderson. You also forgot Eaton
  6. OK ? Isn't that a given considering they don't walk and don't hit for average either ? Wasn't that what I just said ?
  7. You really think that ? Already ? I mean I believe in Eloy as much as anyone else but why would they ? There's still a chance he becomes less than we expect and a chance of some catastrophic injury . In the event something bad happens then that money is wasted when the Sox might really need it . I know you might argue that if Eloy doesn't make it we are screwed especially if Moncada doesn't figure things out but still what's the rush ?
  8. I think you also should have looked into what percentage of the Sox HR's are solo shots and how that also corresponds to league average. Of course the low walk rate hurts as does the low hit tool abilities. You have more guys on base you score more runs. It's simple . You have more guys hitting for higher averages while taking more walks you have better players and your offense and team doesn't suck. It's hard to have rallies when guys don't hit or walk consistently enough to sustain longer innings. I truly love speed but it becomes much more effective when guys who can hit for some average are able to send them around the bases instead of massive amounts of K's and weak contact stranding runners all over the place. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what usually makes an offense bad. Speed and HR's are not as effective without men on base.
  9. Having LH power is fun. If its not Palka all of a sudden its been Delmonico.
  10. Yep I was hoping the Dodgers would want both Avilan and Cedeno in a package deal since their BP is a mess that has to addressed soon. They didn't pick uo Machado and Dozier to not make the playoffs,
  11. I think that is the plan. The Sox will add free agents this off season. I'd guess 2 of them minimum.
  12. When the other team knows you need to protect players who are Rue 5 eligible it hurts your bargaining position.
  13. This was just the baseball gods way of limiting his innings
  14. I actually think they could get 30K . Unlike Moncada, Kopech is a cultural phenomena. Not just a highly rated baseball player but a blonde studly type who is known nationally even by non baseball fans because of who he dates and his appearances on various TV shows.
  15. Doesn't have to be Verdugo . Dodgers have some interesting prospects, 3 catchers out of their top 11 . Keibert Ruiz and Will Smith are 2 and 3 . Gavin Lux doing great.
  16. Verdugo isn't on the active roster. Same rules apply ? If Avilan and Cedeno are o coveted why weren't they traded already ? I know blocking goes on but I'm just hoping .
  17. They need a lot of help in the bullpen. They should get serious about fixing it since they do want to win since they got Machado. Maybe the Sox still have a shot ae moving Cedeno and/or Avilan . Just give us Verdugo.
  18. Get well soon Ricky !
  19. Go Go White Sox ! Go Go Kopech ! This thread needs a haiku !
  20. So you're saying Rodon and Abreu who are absolutely fueling the stretch of good play don't matter ? So anything that Giolito , Lopez ,Fry ,Palka or anyone else that may prove to be a semi useful piece over the next few years doesn't matter ? It's dominos man. You put a guy like Rodon pitching amazingly well in a rotation and its like taking out bad starts and putting in really good ones. Then when you get some quality starts from Gio and Lopez and it absolutly does matter. All this was with a bad Moncada. These are exciting times now that Kopech is up. With some progress next year from Gio , Lopez, Moncada and Rodon and Kopech pitching every 5th day and Eloy up also, throw in some free agents while subtracting bad performers and the Sox will be looking for big improvement next year. See the forest not just the trees.
  21. Yeah the timing isn't curious at all.You call a guy up when he is on a roll . I'm sure I had a post or 2 in Future Sox that predicted this . If he could put together 5 good starts in a row he would be up. I think it's been 6 or 7 good starts now so he's put the bad stretch behind him and learned to cope with the loss of someone close to him.
  22. MLB network's morning show MLB Central had a segment about 15-20 minutes on Danny that was done by Matt Yaloff who also had a stroke . Matt was talking to Danny about what he remembers , about pitching again, his wife, the doctors at the hospital, Herm Schneider , Nate Jones and others about everything from Danny pitching that night to where he is right now. Just a great inspiring segment and I highly recommend keeping an eye on MLB Networks website or twitter to see when they post it. Just a little preview on where he is pitching wise. He hit 90 in a practice condition , not on a mound and he said he had never done that before.
  23. Thank goodness the Royals and Sox didn't put up another 6 spot because it would've signaled the coming of the Antichrist
