Sox pitchers have no hit the Angels hitters for the last 5 innings but Sox still trail 3-1 entering the 9th. -
Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to Fielder Jones's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is the article that Sportico.com put out on January 13th ,2025 about Ishbia's purchase in 2021. https://www.sportico.com/business/team-sales/2025/mat-justin-ishbia-white-sox-stake-twins-1234823444/ -
Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to Fielder Jones's topic in Pale Hose Talk
All are not taking the offer but many will be. There were sellers in 2021 when Ishbia and Reinsdorf's kids bought up some shares at $900M which is half of what the shares are being sold for now . And that's the distressed asset price which is why some are not selling because they expect share prices to be higher later especially if Ishbia's money brings positive changes in the spending habits of ownership. -

Yep it was me. Wanted him and Outman both the off season after the 2022 season. Garrett' s always hurts.Plays pretty good when he isn't hurt but best ability availability much like too many White Sox. -

It's like anything you sell. You can estimate it's value but you never know until it's bought. It's worth whatever someone pays for it. -

A bet means that there is a possibility of losing so they are conceding it can get worse just by betting that it won't get worse . 😜 -
Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to Fielder Jones's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Probably ? So no real proof of that. Ishbia could very well be the biggest shareholder of the Sox by Friday and whatever shares he's buying he's getting at $1.8B valuation so he's in a great position to buy out the Reinsdorfs at either a predetermined date or higher price or both for the sons shares. Then Jerry's upon his death. The biggest drawback is him living longer than expected. JR does seem set on avoiding the extra taxes his son's would incur but I wouldn't count him out on finding a workaround. -

That's best case scenario. The valuation is the shares is down from the high of around $2.1B . JRs made it attractive to purchase at a discount price while keeping the door open for much higher valuation IF money is put into the franchise and build a new stadium. If his goal is to make his and his sons shares worth more that would seem to be the way to do it. Ishbia somehow getting control seems to be the only way to make the team worth more in the near future. JR can't make that happen because spending is counterproductive to his son's inheritance . -
No I was saying that you called it stupid but I wouldn't use that word because it's like youre calling the other person stupid because their argument is stupid and that makes it personal.
-
When did I say that ? I wasnt being sarcastic. I was sticking up for your points. There is a pecking order and I have always maintained in numerous posts that Vargas and Sosa are at the top. I have no idea how you misinterpreted that post .

Tuesday - 2/25/25 - Sox at Rox spring training
CaliSoxFanViaSWside replied to WestEddy's topic in 2025 Season in Review
You're fighting a battle that can't be won. You're spitting into the wind. Game threads are going to game thread more than they have ever game threaded before after a historically bad season and a bunch nobodies and prospects duking it out for roster spots. No matter how logical your arguments to be patient and understanding because you can't be as dumb as you're acting , it will ultimately get you labeled as a water carrying , Getzasslicking know-it-all by the Lord of the Flies Soxtalk Militia. Save your knowledge for the Future Sox section where's it's much more appreciated. -
He didn't have those 600 AB with the Sox . Your stance while admirable judges a guy who is on his last legs because of his options . I don't like to use words like "stupid" to describe how not giving Vargas this last opportunity would be like someone else did but Ramos is just going to wait his turn . Who the hell else would you say would be the leading candidate to get the majority ABs at 3rd ? I'm sure Venable thought he was giving the most logical answer given the options ( no pun intended). When you're really bad you're walking a fine line between wins and hard choices regarding young players who have run out of chances and MUST play NOW.
-
While it's mostly a meritocracy certain concessions have to be made . The options situation and his previous status as a very good hitter combined takes priority. He'll be the 1st one out the door along with Sosa if neither one can step up. Ramos will get his chance but it's not like he's healthy or forced the issue. Also Rojas knows his role is to play well enough to get traded and play wherever they stick him. If Vargas proves once again that his fielding at 3rd is subpar but his hitting starts to come around Venable likely gives him more ABs at DH.

But 2027 is just 2 seasons away and there's not one core piece established yet. You're expecting an awful lot in 2 years just with what theyhave now, some top draft choices and a return from a Robert trade. Maybe your definition of competitive is not aligned with others here. .500 would seem reasonable during the 2027 season if there is one, but you'd still need a lot of guys to get good fairly fast . -
I think I have a baseball card of him somewhere. RIP Eddie.

I didn't get about the 1st 2 innings until I found other means so as far as I'm concerned the Sox won 3-2.😃

I thought of that for the exhibition games but VPNs cost money now don't they . Plus it's not worth it for just a few exhibition games if I can get the exhibition and regular season games " other" ways. I've never used a VPN any so not sure if they're easy to use intuitively or how you set it for a certain area.It might come in handy to get my daughter's Disney Channel if I could duplicate being in her household near SF.

Thought I'd see if the TV App was available out here in Cali. I downloaded it and the only thing I could do was watch highlights of Bulls and Blackhawks and related videos like shorts of the 3 teams , post game or general discussions by their talking heads. No game replays or broadcasts since I'm out of the area. So after the Rangers finished their 9 run 1st. I picked up the game on Streameast (shh). So as far as I'm concerned that 9 run 1st didn't happen 🤣

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox

I think getting a new stadium on the 78 is a stretch but the rest of it isn't. Share price will still rise . Building a new stadium might be completely Ishbia's baby. But we're getting ahead of ourselves now. Let's see what happens and if we get some answers on the 28th.
