  1. A little managing by Renteria and timely hitting nets the Sox 3 runs. Pena singled. Hit and run single by Bourjos so 1st and 3rd. Bourjos steals 2nd. Moncada walks. With 2 outs Eddy Alvarez doubles to center clearing the bases . CF looked bad got turned around. 6-1 Sox
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 26, 2017 -> 12:19 PM) There's a place on a good White Sox team for Tyler Saladino. I don't know that he will ever be a solid positional starter anywhere, but there's no reason he can't play 8 more years as a utility guy. He should be the starter at 2nd base . He has a nice combo of speed and power along with a competent glove . I still think with all the competition at 2nd base and it being Moncada's eventual home Tyler could still play the OF. Of course I think Moncada could be an OF too .
  3. QUOTE (5+6=Perfection @ Feb 25, 2017 -> 05:37 PM) BASEBALL IS BACK!!!!! ?????? Welcome to Soxtalk ! Good name .
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 08:30 AM) It is, he makes the best backdrop for the logo for some reason, the Dunn banner also had Danks. If Rodon gets a shoulder injury I am blaming you ! On a serious note , great job, Q and Kalapse FTW .
  5. On the Sox 1st run the announcer said the Cubs lead 1-0. Charlie O'Brien I think.
  6. QUOTE (heirdog @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 04:22 PM) Hope he strikes out Bregman a couple times... Even if he is on his game I don't expect him to go more than 4 or 5 innings.
  7. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 09:43 PM) Throw away reaction, no value add here. Shocker. Meanwhile, we have crocodile tears coming from the owner who has presided over 36 years of ownership in which his team has scarce made the postseason but five times, not once in the past eight years, and one that's on its way to extending that period to a full decade, in this the period of two Wild Card teams. Real funny, SS2K5, eh? Do you find that funny, SS2K5? The fact our fan base, the one you routinely enjoy denigrating, will go a full decade without seeing their team participate in the postseason? Is this a HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA moment for you, too? Do you find it funny when the folks who put the team we passionately follow remain in their positions of influence? Is the Sox situation really just a joke to you, not to be taken seriously? I don't think you have an obsession or hatred , though your words indicate a very strong dislike and might be hatred just judging by the viitriol you spout. My opinion is that you have educated yourself on all things Reinsdorf and therefore your opinion is one that doesn't like what he's read. That seems unreasonably unbiased way to go about things if I am correct.
  8. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 08:11 PM) Lol - uhhh, boy. What to do with this nonsense. Just when you've started turning a blind eye to Hahn's abysmal four years since he was appointed GM at the end of 2012, as he's inspired a glimmer of hope in whatever capabilities he may have to develop a sustainably winning MLB ball club with his rebuilding trades so far this offseason, then there's this: the customary fluff piece to flatter the outdated owner of the White Sox. Consider: Hahn states in this article that "it (the rebuild) was the hardest thing for him...It was probably easier for us than it was for Jerry...So he deserves the most credit (for the rebuild)...because it was most difficult for him." Easier for us than "him"? Most difficult for "him"? "He deserves the most credit (for the rebuild)"? WHAT?!?!? He's the only one amongst us who will continue to PROFIT IMMENSELY throughout this entire rebuild because he is entering his 27th year of guaranteed profits courtesy of Illinois taxpayers due to the sweetheart lease deal he blackmailed the state into giving him almost 30 years ago. Never forget this salient fact about this scoundrel, folks. NEVER FORGET! No matter how bad the team does (e.g., the past 11 years), this guy continues and will continue to make a boatload of money, each and every year, on the backs of taxpayers. What a guy, eh? So during these lean years of the rebuild when you and me are still investing our time and disposable income into yet more of the subpar product Reinsdorf has routinely given to us for over a decade now, remember that Mr. "Oh, this rebuild is soooooo hard on me!" will still be making deposits into his bank account the likes of which most fans will never know. Reinsdorf is a sham and a scam and has been since he washed up on shore back in 1980 when he lucked into buying Our Sox. Our beleaguered fan base will be so far better served when we are finally rid of his influence on the franchise. Could you be any more wishy washy on the subject ? Judging by the comments in the thread, I'd say more than a few realize without bias that he puts profits ahead of the team and that's the nicest hing you can say about him. I mean sure he gives big donations to charities (write offs) and he must have a hell of a publicist to not take much more grief than he does. You seem very well spoken so I have no qualms with you voicing a very strong opinion. I really try to keep out of the more toxic comments but I do side with you on this
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 06:41 AM) I'm fairly convinced that CBJ and MIN are fools gold. They look legit to me. Min has a good goalie ,good defense, strong PP , balanced lines from top to bottom. CBJ hard to have as long a winning streak as they did without being legit. On a different note , my itunes was playing Love will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division and it matched the bounciness of Ms. Upton in your avatar perfectly.
  10. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 04:52 PM) That's great, except this is MLB , not CFB. Saban can teach his 5 star DT how to sink his pads and do a rip move, more power to him. if Renteria thinks teaching Moncada to bunt is a good use of his time, well, he's wrong. That said, RV blabbed non stop about how each year the team was going to do the little things and how they were stressing fundamentals and each year the team was a poor fundamental team: not taking the extra base, missing the cut off man, inability to get the bunt down, etc. So I'll believe it when I see it. And yea, don't ask guys like Moncada to spend time bunting. I'd much rather him him working on his double play pivot. You are speaking as if bunting is a fundamental and working on footwork to turn a DP isn't . They both are fundamentals .
  11. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) Doesn't he have a history of coming in lighter? Sure hasn't made much of a difference before...still the same bad swing, and being lighter won't help him take better routes to fly balls... No idea of his history on his weight. I ain't his personal trainer. He might be a bit faster in the OF , have a quicker jump and also a quicker 1st step on SB attempts. Also his swing could be looser . Not saying it'll make any difference but you never know. He is fast once he gets moving. It's the 1st step or 2 that's slow with him .
  12. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 22, 2017 -> 11:26 AM) Well maybe he should have allowed his front office to utitlize more of its resources in player development. Or hired more competent people. Literally, he has no one to blame but himself. This. Also boo hoo.
  13. Q since I proposed honoring him
  14. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 08:18 PM) it's a stupid change. Has no real benefit (ooh saves 30 seconds every other game, big whoop) and as you touched on -- that element is now gone from baseball. Stupid, Manfred sucks. Not really sure you can blame Manfred. There were a lot better changes proposed like limiting the number of trips a catcher can make to the mound but the MLBPA wouldn't approve anything and Manfred had some harsh words for them. Next year the owners will get what they want changed without the player's association approval.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 07:40 PM) That pass on goal #4 was just sick. Toews with the hatty and five point game, great win. If neither team gets upset in the 1st round, this is gonna be a great second round series. Amazing game . I know the Toews line got all the points but the the KAP and kid line both looked good too. Hawks are really good when they get their top 2 lines working. I wonder who they can get at the deadline to help the PK.
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Feb 21, 2017 -> 06:27 AM) Reading this article, it says "He also got into better shape, dropping from 268 pounds to 258 at the start of Spring Training." Like it's such a huge difference lol Then you must have also read that he wants to finish spring training at 248. As one of Avi's strongest supporters I am pretty sure I had a post suggesting he lose some weight so I'm glad the Sox and him came to the same conclusion.
  17. On the fun side of things Derek Holland calling Saladino Captain Jack Sparrow because of his mustache. Tells him I must ache you a question but I'll shave it for later .
  18. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 18, 2017 -> 05:25 PM) I vaguely remember the play. Respectfully disagree on the team player thing. 25 Albert Belle's in the same clubhouse would never take the field because they would be brawling each before game time. Yeah, you aren't kidding! It's one thing to be an asshole but Cobb was juuuuust a bit more than that. He was on Cleveland at the time and he nailed Fernando Vina and actually he prevented the DP Here's an article about Belle Moments including the highlight of that play. http://www.cheatsheet.com/sports/mlb-the-5...html/?a=viewall
  19. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 18, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) I don't hate anyone but Belle is and always was an asshole. I spent alot of time at the Cell that year in what I think was called the lower deck reserved in LF. Belle was an asshole to fans as well as the Sox bullpen pitchers. Witnessed that first hand on more than one occasion. Then there's the stories of him being an asshole in the clubhouse , just ask Lofton and Thomas. No doubt Belle had an incredible year but Belle was always about Belle first and foremost. The prick always had a chip on his shoulder for some reason or another. As good as he was I was glad when he opted out. Give me a team full of assholes who can produce like that. Remember the play when Belle was on 1st and a grounder was hit to the 2nd baseman ? He went to tag Belle and Belle tagged him with a huge elbow . At the time loved it. Not sure the 2nd baseman completed the throw to 1st but the ump called the out for interference or something. Now that's a team player ! He definitely had some Ty Cobb in him.
  20. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 08:13 PM) Let's go all out and put Jaimie Navarro, Jose Paniagua and Joey Belle up there. The ultimate s***-show. Why do you hate Albert Belle ? He had one of the greatest seasons in Sox history and then were able to get rid of him before he got hurt ? Win Win . In 1998 Belle had 399 total bases . The most Frank Thomas ever had was 364 . Trout and Willie Mays never got that high. Hank Aaron reached exactly 400 once. Pujol's high was 394. That 1998 season was a historic year for Belle.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 01:24 PM) His retirement doesn't deserve an article or any pop and circumstance. :debbieDowner Is the highlighted supposed to be pomp or poop ?
  22. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 06:23 PM) While we appreciate everyone's feedback we've decided to go in another direction, instead of highlighting the exciting young players in the org the site banner will instead be honoring heroes of years past. First up: White Sox legend Adam Dunn, i think all can appreciate his contribution to White Sox history. So we're going with the tongue in cheek banner ? Who's next Keppinger, ? Latos ? LaRoche ? Swisher ?
  23. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Feb 16, 2017 -> 07:35 AM) Schwarber in the outfield will be ugly. He is a classic American League 1B/DH. Catching is out of the question, and he is a liability in the outfield. I think it would be hard for the Cubs to trade such a valuable bat at this point in his career though. Schwarber will be lucky to have a Mike Napoli type career.
  24. I see how the vote is overwhelmingly for the kids ,however those kids will not be White Sox players to start the year. They will be Knights, Barons and Intimidators. Plus has Q ever been on the banner ? I think he deserves it, even if it lasts a very short time ,as a gesture of appeciation for his body of work and professionalism' I love the new blood but it's a White Sox banner so guys who are on the 25 man roster should be on the banner. The kids will have plenty of time on the banner if they pan out.
  25. QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Feb 13, 2017 -> 02:16 PM) It would be shuffling madness to put him in the pen to soon. There is no reason you can't pamper him this year and if he is still dominating he would be able to fetch highly regarded position prospects. Supply/demand stuff could work out...unless he has locomotive breathe! I didn't know this would become a thing in the thread. But I like it.
