  1. Post All Star break in 186 AB Eaton is batting .333 but leading the team in K's with 51. Strange what a sore shoulder can do but the end result isn't bad but he might need off season surgery. Eaton has said " it would be more fun hitting in the three or four or five hole" so if Micah Johnson pans out somewhere Eaton would love it.
  2. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) Cespedes has been one of the premier defensive LF (according to uzr) every year but 2012. The OBP is low but he has hit 20+ homers and doubles every year since he entered the league. I think he profiles as a .275/.320/.480 guy in the Cell with 25 homers/doubles and 10+ steals. I think he has a rep as a bad defender for some reason but stats prove he is a very good outfielder. This is where I have to take defensive stats with a grain of salt. Not that I have ever thought much of them but Cespedes has no regard for the cutoff man whatsoever . Defensive stats have a lot to prove before they prove Cespedes is a good fielder.
  3. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 07:11 PM) Was Cueto like working on a pitch or something? Probably not . Sox just caught him when he's been struggling his last few outings.
  4. In Eric Johnson's 2015 debut the Sox built a 6-1 lead then held on to complete the sweep in KC. Johnson pitched well giving up 3 solo HRs in 6 innings before he ran out of gas in the heat and humidity of KC. Johhny Cueto only lasted 3 innings before he was pulled after giving up 5 runs on 7 seven with 2 walks. David Robertson picked up a save. Recently acquired Mike Olt went 2/4 with 2 K's and played solid at 3rd.
  5. Zobrist has had at least 3 plays in this series defensively that were not good.
  6. Should be fun watching EJ even if he gets hit, but Royals are dreaming of the playoffs just enough for the Sox to beat on them.
  7. QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Sep 6, 2015 -> 01:38 AM) Olt will be our starting third baseman when we win the world series in the next few years. If the Sox are investing in Olt I hope they are also up on the latest in concussion treatment. I know Olt had a concussion playing winter ball before the 2013 season but he then had vision problems that probably were concussion related in 2013. Might as well send him to the best concussion Doctor's in the world.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 5, 2015 -> 11:26 PM) Johnson vs Cueto
  9. Yes you read that right, the King of the No Decision finally won against the Royals. If Danks can dominate them why not Q ? They both throw LH . What has Danks got that Q hasn't got ? Any way. Q pitched 7 shutout innings with 0 BB and 5 K as the Sox beat KC 6-1 Alexei Ramirez spearheaded the win with his late season push to be $10M richer next year with a 3 run HR in the 4th inning. Soto had a solo shot in the 7th . Its rare that KC lose series at home but that's just what the Sox did by outscoring the Royals 17-2 in 2 games. Better late then never but Q deserves it.
  10. Way to go Jonesy and Alexei. This should not be a game that Q gets a no decision.
  11. Soto sitting dead red on 3-1 count and hits a bomb. 4-0 .
  12. Sox have hit more 3 run HR's in the last 2 days than they probably had in the previous 2 months.
  13. John Danks pitched his 3rd victory against KC this year as the Sox romped over the Royals 12-1. Danks ran his record lifetime against KC to 10-2. Danks gave up 7 hits ,1 ER with 1BB and 5 K's. Adam Eaton and Alexei Ramirez both went 4/5. Eaton had a double and a 3 run HR to go along with 2 singles while all of Alexei's hits were singles. Tyler Flowers went 2/4 with his 9th HR , also a 3 runner. Abreu was 2/5 with his 25th HR going back to back with Eaton in a 5 run 8th inning. Tyler Saladino was 2/4 with 2 RBI and also made an outstanding play on a ground ball.
  14. Saladino drives in Alexei again . Eaton 3 run bomb . 11-0 Sox . Abreu hits #25 so back to back jacks and its 12-0 !
  15. Saladino drives in Alexei and drives Medlen from the game. 7-0 Sox.
  16. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Sep 4, 2015 -> 06:19 PM) Even with a six run lead I wouldn't count out KC. They've had a a few hard hit outs the first time around Have to get more off Medlen before he reaches his pitch count. KC didn't look in any hurry to pull him. He migh have to eat it and save the pen for the other games. KC basically conceding this one unless their bats heat up .
  17. 3 run bomb by Flowers. 6-0 Sox. How many hangers could Medlen throw him ?
  18. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Sep 3, 2015 -> 06:10 AM) His stats in Sox losses vs Sox wins screams "the fix is in". Can't that be said in general about any team losing ? Individual performances are down in losses and up in wins. And we have said nothing about sample sign. There's nothing anyone can glean about a "fix being in" based on stats in a a short playoff . It certainly falls way short as proof. It screams nothing except whoever thinks that is ignorant and grasping at straws.
  19. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 06:17 PM) I'd never thought of that about Pete's teammates, but as I said in the past about steroids, they knew. I'm certain of it just based on my experience in the workplace. There are always people who have info, and they're usually pretty ready to gossip. I doubt an MLB clubhouse is any different than most of our workplaces. I think most of our workplaces have women in them. Can't say that about an MLB clubhouse.
  20. Nice to come home from work and see a W on the board.
  21. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 08:20 PM) Tough loss. Definite turning point in the season. Droll ,very droll, I like it !
